It isn't what I expected myself doing, but it is in the same industry I've been in for 10 years, so the knowledge base isn't completely wasted.
Sorry to hear that - just got to keep at it and something turns up. I start next Tuesday - I've been out of work for four months, so my start date is actually something to look forward to.
Exactly my thoughts - 9 hours a week less (on average) for 30 quid a week less. Not a bad compromise. Plus I will actually get paid for overtime, which wasn't the case at my last job.
I agree - better to have any sort of job in this climate than none at all. As long as you still have an income, you can fight off the recession for that little bit longer.
Relief doesn't even come close. The money will soon tot up, and as mentioned above, I get paid +50% for overtime, which I can do in the first few weeks under the guise of "learning the ropes a bit sooner".
