nope that explains a lot, cheers.

    leakdown test

I think any more than 20% loss is bad.. i had my 1J done a while back and it was between 10 and 20% on all cylinders, which i think was borderline pass.

  7. Hi all.. Just testing the water to see if anyone has a 2JZGTE shortblock in good order for sale (has to be the GTE) and if so how much they want for it. Basically im doing some work to the 1JZ and are thinking of using a 2J shortblock.. depending on cost. Cheers adi

    550's wanted..

within a month or so.. i could get away with 440's but would prefer 550's... depending on the funds i have left I also need a 2J map sensor.

    Smoke :(

chnging to a thicker oil isn't the solution
  12. You can only use T-IV in your boxes (or its equivalent, which there are some available). Your boxes were designed for T-II (apart from the n/a which i belive uses dexII), yet T-II was superceeded by T-IV, its basically the same stuff but with a different name... the only difference being that the new T-IV (brought out in may last year) is compatible with both dexII and t-II boxes and fluids, however that doesnt apply to the mkiv box as it uses t-II anyway. SO !! Dont bung anything else in, use T-IV... you'll all be glad tohear they've recently revised it yet again and the price has gone up to £63 for four litres , meaning that for a complete flush youre looking at £250 Like i say, there are alternatives to T-IV which match or exceed its properties.. one i think made by amsoil? not sure.

    Smoke :(

i have to agree with nick and Chris and everyone else at the start of this thread.. its turbo seals. In the initial stages of seal failure the smoke does seem random.. sometimes it'll do it, sometimes it wont. But whenever it does its always when sitting at traffic lights, after a run etc.. basically when the car is idling and has been run for a while. The smoke is normally 'wispy' and hangs around the back of the car,as opposed to being blown out.. I was in denial for about two months when mine went, eventually i gave in and admitted it.. get them done now before the summer comes !
  14. has anyone got one? Just how big is it? From what ive seen onthe universal filters the inner hole is only 65mm, and the whole thing looks no bigger than 150mm across.. Isnt this a bit small? Bearing in mind im running the intake to two hybrids i'm a bit worried that a 65mm neck might cause a restriction, as the intake piping is bigger than that.. Can you get larger ones? Can anyone that has got one for the 2JZ confirm the size? PS its going on a 1JZ and not a 2JZ. Cheers adi

    apexi intake

hi all.. just floated in... does anyone know if all apexi intake filters are the same size for different cars? Ie are they all 65mm neck with the same body and filter dimensions? If i buy one for say an evo or a S15 will it be the same as one for another car (filter wise). cheers adi
