Hi all, I've not got a supe yet, still looking and I'm wondering how much people paid for their cars, if its not any trouble for people I'd be interested if ppl would post and say how much they bought theirs for, something like below would be cool: (year bought) - (reg year) - (model) - (mods:none/some/lots) - (condition:poor/good/great) - (uk/import) - (colour) - (price) So if I'd bought a import silver GZ Twin Turbo this year for £6000, it was a 97 ® reg, in great condition and wasn't modified, it would be: 08 - 97 - GZ TT - none - great - import - silver - £6000 I'll leave the judgement of how many mods are some or lots, and also the condition. Thanks to anyone who does this, would be nice to build a picture up of how much I might be paying, also, I guess its kinda pointless to list very old purchases, unless your bored EDIT - I forgot the (price) at the ewnd, lol, I'm a fool

Ah, I thought the mileage on the car was in KM's, but it is miles, so 100k miles. Thats why the price is low I guess.

Yeh, it could be, which would be an arse. I might try my dads grinder/sander/buffer - you can slow it right down and it has polishing bonnet's, i'd buy my own tho. I don;t wanna spend £100 ish on a decent polisher for it not to work

Anyone seen this car on pistonheads: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/548545.htm Looks very nice to me and doesn't seem to have been fiddled with much, but it seems too cheap at 4.75k, I've spoke to the advertiser who says there is about £300 pf paint restoration work needed, but this only goes to just over 5k which still seems cheap for a nice black supra. I'm not sure yet if the 100k is miles or km's, so if it were miles I would understand the price I guess... GZ as well...anyone gone to look at it?If anyone is gonna go look at it, would they mind posting back what they found? I'm interested, but cautious about the low price and I'm quite a drive away Wood dash tho, that would get torn straight off EDIT - I didn't post that he is asking for a quick sale due to baby.

Hello, I've only been here 5 minutes myself, but I'll say it anyway

Well, been reading since my last post, very vey helpful guides, thankyou. I think I'll try with an orbital, seems safer in a newbie's hands. One thing I noticed was that the guides suggested oxidisation won't be removed on a car with clear coat, does anyone have any info on this? I've been advised it will help. As a side note, I'm quite naive and don't know its oxidisation, all I know is its slightly darker than the rest of my paint! ITs on plastic bumpers.

Thanks a lot for those links, Im going to look at them now, as for the wet and dry talk, yeh that much be pretty hard stuff. I know I was spraying, so was using 1200 grit (not opn the finished product!), but I was told to scuff the surrounding area to blend the paint in and it made the surface cloudy instantly, which (imo) seemed pointless as I then couldn't blend, so had to use rubbing compound to remove the cloud. Worked nice in the end tho

Hi all, I'm thinking of usnig a machine to polish my car, I've never done this and am looking for advice - is it a good idea? I have some oxidisation on my front and rear bumpers so would like to remove that with G3, and have heard you should use an orbital polisher for that. So, any advice for general polishing, and also how to remove oxidisation, and would everyone think that a machine is better to use than by hand? Also, Is it any quicker? Cheers! EDIT - also, seems as though the small battery polishers are called orbital ones, yet the bigger ones (that look like grinders, connected to the mains) don;t seem to be called orbital, whats the difference, any recommendation between the two?

I'd like to try before I buy Besides, I had a ride in one recently and its arse (well, in my eyes) was wobbling all over the shop, having spoken to ppl on the forum about it, they seem to think its probably the car at fault, thats why I want to see what they are like, so I have a point of reference to pick out bad ones and so I know what I'm getting, if all supes were to wobble around like the one I drove recently, I think I'd actually rather keep my Celica!

Well, I have a Silver Celica GT, being very honest £5k would be a big push for me, but its maybe possible...depends if you want a Celica tho! EDIT - its a 97, so gen 6, and has done 78k and is in standard condition, also its a UK Celica which is not that usual

Well, theres another I'm interested in so being honest yours is second choice, but it does look pretty good. I wouldn't be able to buy for something like 3 weeks tho, as I've still to sell my Celica. But yeh, looks nice

I have a silver Celica GT 97 (silver), and the front and rear bumpers are faded, they haven't been replaced so I think its just that plastic fades quicker than metal? Anyway, any way of fixing this without blow over / respray? cheers!

Well, it was happening while going totally straight, and without putting any power down at all (30 mph, going steady not accelerating) on a dry day going over manholes and such that were very flat to the road. It did seem like the rear was drifting, though quite heavily...certainly I wouldn't expect the conditions to cause what was happening, but I'm very naive in this respect - not driven many RWD cars at all, but put it this way, I'd be very very surprised if any FWD car I've driven did that, I drove my celica on the same roads no fuss whatsoever.

Bizarre, I definitely noticed it, and it seemed...not dangerous or anything, but uncomfortable - it seemed odd to me at the time, because I thought to myself, jeez, if this wobbles like that then the ride in some of the turbo Porsche carrera's must be horrible, cus they have massive wide tyres
