Hello all, As I know that many of you are keen mechanics I was wondering if anyone has come across the above problem. From looking on the net this looks to be a common thing, but I cannot find a straight answer. A specialist says a new gearbox at £1800, and I'm happy:rolleyes: to pay it if that is the case, but was just curious as the forward gears are all fine and there are no nasty noises. Cheers Ilicos

What they said dude. 2JZ is a non-interference engine - This means that even if the belt goes you will not have the issue of your valves and pistons mashing each other up. Just put a new belt on and you're ok

Have you checked that all vacuum pipes are connected properly and not perished/split? IACV VSV?

Yes, Which is what I was trying to put across and some 'know-it-all' tried to shoot down everything I said.
