  1. After seeing a few mentions in various threads about having a Supra Dyno Day, I have spoken with Rich at Dynodaze, and they are happy to have a Supra day early next year. The two provisional dates I am looking at are Sunday 19th January, or Sunday 2nd Feburary 2014. It is £30 for a power run with a printout, and an extra £10 for AFR or Boost. So the maximum cost would be £50 if you wanted a run with both AFR and Boost included. They can open from 10am until 4pm, or when the last car has been done. They can get catering for the day, so we can buy hot tea/coffee and bacon butties etc for a very reasonable price. The day is open to all Supra owners, but it would be good to see a good NA-T turnout If your interested, get your name down and a preferred date with an indication if you want a run on the Dyno. The date is now confirmed as Sunday 2nd February 2014. - - - Updated - - -

  3. Keep them in guys, as they will all be considered. I've spent a fortune on mine over the years, but the NA-T build was originally only £1200. The fact that a boat load has gone on wheels, brakes, styling.... etc isn't the point. Its about showcasing what can be done. Like I said, you can get an NA for £3k and go NA-T or TT for around another £3k. Likewise you can get a BPU TT for circa £6k. This doesn't mean that if you have a £4k set of wheels, a £2k re-trim and a massive stereo install that you wont be considered.
  4. Thanks for the offer, but the brief for the feature was to show people now that Supras have become more affordable, that there are a variety of options for tuning and engine mods without having a big budget. With NA's coming up for around the £3k mark, you could buy one, go NA-T, TT or even just get a BPU TT for around £6k all in. Leaving you with a 400BHP car and a smile on your face, for less than the price of a new, cheap, eco friendly, boring hatchback.
  5. Dynodaze in Hinkley work weekends, and are pretty central being in the Midlands. We had a midland meet there this time last year for a Japanese Performance Supra feature. To be fair to the lads the day went well, they were very helpful and knowledgeable, it was well organised and they laid food on. If it suits everyone, and we get enough people interested, we could have a Supra day again one Sunday. I am happy to organise this if there are enough takers wanting to put there cars on the rollers. Check out http://www.dynodaze.com for info.
  6. The FFIM was fitted and mapped at the same time, so all I noticed was the benefit. It was surprising the difference it made without any alteration to the boost, just a tweak to the map. One thing I did notice was the improvement in midrange response. Lyndon did say with the oem inlet, that the second throttle butterfly that opens around 4,000 RPM was a pain to map with the E-manage blue, and this was visible on the rollers. Some of the lads have removed the butterfly on their build which has eradicated the issue for them. So with the Boostwerx IM this was not an issue, and it flows loads better. I'll post the results once its dyno'd again. Rich, when do you wanna put them on the Dyno?
  7. Some great examples, thanks for the support guys. As for the NA cars, they don't have to be power mods, as we all know when it comes to corners chassis work is where its at, so where you loose out on the straights, time can be made up in the twistys. So brakes, suspension, uprated ARB's etc are just as important here. Like I said at the start of the thread, the article is aimed at being a realistic comparison, it will be good to see all of the cars on track and where all of the strengths and weakness' lie amongst the cars.
  8. Feel free to add me to the NA-T list. I completed my conversion in May 2009, it was road mapped at 0.5 bar and later put on the dyno showing 374BHP at the flywheel. Manifold unknown, T70 Turbo with a T3 flange, 40mm external wastegate with screamer and a 0.5 bar spring. Standard head gasket and internals. GodSpeed FMIC and a Blitz style BOV. MKIII tuebo 440cc injectors with resister pack, E-manage Blue, 3bar map sensor and a great map and plenty of advice from Lyndon. This year I swapped over to a Boostwerx inlet manifold with an Accufab 80mm throttle body and uprated the fuelpump to a Walbro 255lph unit. This with a remap from Lyndon, transformed the throttle response, as it removed a load of IC piping, and with the pipework going directly from the FMIC to the throttle body, there is a lot less heat soak. I have yet to take it back to DynoDaze for a comparison run on the rollers, but i'm guessing somewhere in the region of 400BHP still at 0.5 bar boost.
  9. I've been talking to Dan Sherwood (editor of JP) regarding a Supra feature. As Supras are becoming more affordable, and there are plenty of ways of extracting power out of both the GE and GTE lump, he would like to do a comparison between a modified NA, NA-T, NA-TT and a BPU TT. This is to showcase that you haven't necessarily got to have deep pockets to build a quick car. And with the four options in question, you can have a fast and reliable car without spending a small fortune, whether it is the smooth delivery of a TT, the big bang effect of an NA-T, or a well sorted NA that you are after. The feature is planned to take place at Bruntingthorpe, no date has been fixed as yet. If you feel you have a car that fits the bill and is feature worthy, please put a spec list together, along with a recent photo of the car and post it below. Car choice is down to Dan himself, and he will be monitoring the thread to check out the entries.
  10. I can't make that weekend, but I'm sure after the success of the last meet that it will be a good night!
  11. Try 'Listers Motorsport' in the midlands for the heat wrap. They are Thermotec stockists, and their prices are more wallet friendly than Demon Tweeks. Tel: 01215255800
  12. There is a tarmac track there, as stated in a previous comment it would be good to get a parade lap organised.
  13. I have emailed Dan Sherwood to see if he would like to cover the event in 'Japanese Performance' I will post an update when I get a reply from Dan.
  14. Thanks for the text Josh, else I'd have missed this. Looks to be a good meet, I have been to the Falcon before, its a great venue, and some fantastic driving roads in the vicinity. Just a word of warning tho, if you are coming in from the Meriden direction there are a couple of speed cameras in the 50mph section of the dual carriageway, one of which is a Specs camera. As thse don't take film, it's more than likely still live. Josh & Rich, you are welcome to meet at mine en route if you like, as it is about halfway to the Falcon.
  15. The meet on the 10th August sounds good Josh. Do me a favour and text me closer to the date, as you know what I'm like.
  16. What version of windows are you running? Mine only seems to work with XP. May be worth giving Nodalmighty a PM, as he got mine up and running las weekend!
  17. Hi Lee, can you just buy the alloy expansion tank on its own? Had a look on the SRD website, but couldn't see it. If so, how much delivered to Birmingham? Thanks.
  18. The February issue of JP should be on sale today! Looking forward to seeing the feature
  19. The feature is in the February issue of JP, which goes on sale in January.
