Another one from the "Will these clear UK brakes" category

That's so close !! I'm not really a fan of spacers. From what i see, there's no point in ordering them at the moment because i don't really know if they clear or not.. I'll be taking the car to Whifbitz next year and if the UK's fit i'll have them, if not im sticking to JDM ones. New calipers might help refresh the look of the current beat up ones. New discs, pads might help my car finally brake properly and make that damn hand brake hold lol . -

Thanks so much 2soops ! It's going to be really tight ! 25mm or so is the clearance i'm getting now between the caliper and the spoke. -

Out of country mate Thats's why i don't have hopes of getting my hands on some UK specs for a test. Found these which might confirm what you've said, that the length might be the biggest issue. From what I see i have plenty of room. The caliper\spoke clearance is going to be tight tho. -

Cheers for the offer mate but i'm not from that area. They are 18" wheels. -
I really want to move to UK brakes, as i want my car to finally be able to brake lol. Question is, will they fit under the new rims? The fronts concern me a bit which are 8.5J with 45mm Offset. From the pics you can see the current clearance with J-Spec brakes(facelift NA model) is about a 50 Euro Cent coin and a bit. I have no way of testing Uk brakes until i order them, so i'm relying on the advices on those who have done the conversion and know how much it affected the clearance. Cheers Alex

Jesus mate ... glad you're OK though. Car looks done. -
What's "worse" a NA with a 3" exhaust or a TT with a 2.5" one ?
alex2jz replied to alex2jz's topic in mkiv Technical
Cheers guys. Thinking of a 2.5" Even though it seems there can be no real compromise.. Probably will sell the 2.5" when the time comes. -

Cheers mate. Was your friends NA decated ? -
Chaps i need your advice. I'm planning to get an aftermaket exhaust. I will most likely go NA-TT next year (finally decided ) but until then i need a change. My question is what exhaust to get 3" or 2.5" ? I will still be using my car with the NA engine more than an year now, MOT is coming... What's the best compromise ? I just want to get one exhaust which i can use with bot engines. Will the NA engine with a 3" exhaust have backpressure issues ? will it be obnoxiously loud (both cats in) ? What are the consequences of a TT engine with a 2.5" exhaust fitted ? I want to know Cheers Alex

I think this is the best and most logical route to take. Brakes and suspension then engine conversion. Even though the prospect of more power and a turbo engine is very tempting i must say I'm also thinking of getting a 2JZ-GTE engine and slowly rebuild it with OEM parts all next year. I've said it, i need to drive a Twin Turbo Supra until 2012 lol
-
I really don't know what the next year has installed for me mate. It's going either a NA-TT swap or a K-Sport brake conversion, exhaust replacement, suspension refresh job. Lately i'm thinking about the second option. My J-Spec brakes don't behave very well, lower suspension arms are a bit rusty but don't really influence the handling\ride which is very good at the moment and top of that my NA engine runs very well, even though the car is a little bit slow for my taste. Wish i could do both but i'll have to make a pick sooner or later
-
Cheers guys:) Not sure i'm ready to drop the suspension yet Luc

I didn't need a fender roll because of the 45 mm offset. Cheers j_jza80 ! Yes they seem really quality stuff that don't break your wallet either. Pretty light too. Can't feel any difference in performance even though they are bigger and wider than the old ones, as well as the tyres.
-
You might need to roll the fenders if you go 295. I didn't really needed 275's on the rear (considering the car is NA), it was strictly for looks.
-
Yes it's true. I love them really. Red on black is also a matter of special taste
-
Fronts are 245/40/18 and rears 275/35/18. Coming from 17' wheels all i can say is i can't feel any difference in ride comfort at all! More than that it seems i've finally fixed my 60mph steering wheel juddering issue
-
Well, after 6 weeks of waiting the special order Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.3 wheels have arrived. And i must i say i'm pretty happy with how they've changed the look of the car. They are 8.5J fronts and 10J rears. Took a few not so good snaps of the car with them fitted. Better pics to come.

Looks amazing !

Can anyone explain why 60.1mm spigot rings won't fit over the wheel hub?

They don't look too good really. Bits are ripping out of them. -

Looks so mate. Just need getting them off now. Wonder how they got stuck on the hub though..Spigot rings attach to the rim from what i know. -
Hi chaps, Just bought some new wheels with the center bore of 73.1mm. Spigot rings to convert the bore to 60.1 were included in the package. To my surprise the wheels with the spigot rings in place don't fit, without they do. I don't get it, doesn't my Supra have 60.1mm center bore or what. Possible mods by the previous owner in order to center the current rims (hope not) ? What do you think Cheers Alex

Cheers Jamesy. I guess it shouldn't rub at all on stock suspension then
