  1. This thread will tell you all the best fluids to use and intervals they shoud be changed etc - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=56684 I'm having a similar problem to you, though the pump isn't as noisy you've suggested. I'll have to give that a try, the gauze is just at the bottom of the reservoir then?
  2. This sounds great, and the setting looks amazing. If my cars running I'll be there! I'll won't know untill nearer the time though.
  3. I went there on a uni trip over the summer, to the north around Zurich. It is expensive but I couldn't give you any idea of the cost of living etc. What's the job if you don't mind me asking, I'm thinking about applying to some places over there when I graduate.
  4. I'm not interested in buying but I think those others are Trial, see my garage...
  5. Right, I'll do that. It'll probably have to be in a few days though as its snowing again up here again Thanks Ian
  6. Just checked those codes again today, they're definately 63 and 64. What do you think Ian? I'm tempted to take the thing to toyota dundee but I don't know what they'll make of it and I don't want to end up paying them through the nose getting it fixed, don't get me wrong I'll spend what is needed for a propper job but they'll not be for using refurbished stuff / parts off one of the breakers.
  7. My TDi golf, Great car and awesome mpg, but not sporty enough!
  8. Jim, Ian posted the ABS error codes in my thread - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=210087 It seems we're having similar problems. Afik the ignition should be at position 2 engine not running.
  9. I don't know I checked it twice, I'll have another look tomorrow...
  10. I might give you a call about that Chris, cheers.
  11. Just tried this Chris, and I have some assistance, it starts squeaking when it does start to turn so I'm guessing its the bearing, there is some metal dust etc behing the pulley too, so that settles that one, Thanks! Edit - Will this have damaged the pump? If its only giving partial assistance then surely its more than just the bearing now.
  12. Ok, as per your first 2 posts Ian, I've checked for the ABS errors... The ABS light is off, Trac light is on and Trac Off light blinks, so OFF,ON,ON. I get 2 error codes 63 and 64, but they're not on the list Please don't ban me!
  13. Thanks w41k3r, I read your thread, had a look at mine but couldn't see if anything was loose so I bought a voltmeter to test it. The battery had actually run flat so I had that charged and tested them both, battery was 12.4V and the alternator was charging at 14.5V at 2000-2500rpm. So that rules that out, its funny its all the same symptoms though.
  14. Wow, thanks for that ABS info Ian, I'll have to give that a go tomorrow lunch time.
  15. Thanks Ian. I'll have a look at the brake fluid reservoir tonight, the MIL (! red triangle) isn't flashing though, just on full time. Have you any thoughts on the PS pump? The pulley was squeaking but I had it in a garage a while ago and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, could really only hear it when doing low speeds / stopped. Full lock didn't make any difference. I can't tell if there is only a small ammount of assistance or none at all, from another thread it was suggested part of the problem could be a faulty de-limiter, I take it these just plug in somewhere so I could remove it and see what that does?
  16. I'm having a bit of trouble with the supra, the engine warning light (red triangle) and ABS light never go out when I start the car, and there is no power steering assistance. After about 5 mins the traction control light starts blinking too. I've topped up the coolant (remember someone maybe saying this led to funky lights) also checked the battery and alternator and all was fine. I think the battery is loosing charge somewhere though, this maybe connected. Checked for error codes too and the orange engine light just blinks regularly so no error codes stored. I'm up in dundee so my options of good places to take the car are limited and I'm wary of driving it too far untill I know whats up so I've been trying to diagnose it before I decide what to do. Can anyone shed any light on this, I've tried searching and quite a few people have had similar problems but no clear solutions. The car is TT6 btw and I've not had anything done that could have triggered this. Scott M had a similar issue (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=179709) he mentioned a thread by Ian C about how to check ABS error codes, how would I go about this? FuR had something similar too (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=50396&highlight=abs+light+power+steering) I PM'd him a while ago but not had a responce yet.
  17. I'm glad you're still going with the project mate, sounds fantastic. I thought about this before I got my supe and glad I didn't attempt it, best left to people with a bit more know how than me. Peter P is doing something similar, I think he's going for a single turbo 2jz as the stock twins are bulkier and may not fit. I love the smoothness of BPU though, don't think I'd like a single tbh but it really depends what you're into and what you intend on using it for. Heres a link to one of his threads on the matter if you haven't already seen it... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=178033
  18. mustang

    Edinburgh anyone

Thanks for the PM dave, I dunno if I'll be able to make this, I've loads of uni work on and having car trouble too When It comes round I'll make it if I can, what about the forth road bridge viewing point, the place it took us ages to find that DAT meet? Convenient for out of towners and would be great on a sunny day, probably not much chance of that though!
  19. that had me untill the last line! So funny the people that bought it!
  20. Exactly what Scotty said. Good luck with the search, I traveled from Dundee to Oxford to get mine, the drive home was the best bit!
  21. I would definately want the plug to be pulled. Imagine just your mind trapped in a useless body, you'd have all the time in the world to re-run the mistakes etc you'd made in your life, you'd be forever sitting in the 'waiting room' trying to keep your mind amused with nothing. As for the happy dream senario, what about nightmares? This sound too much like 'Vanilla Sky'!
  22. My parents have an old wood fueled one of these converted to oil, I think its been in out house for about 65 years, it makes the kitchen lovely and warm this time of year. Surely you could put it on freecycle or something? Edit - Wow thats some extension, and a nice looking old house too.
  23. Welcome to the club mate, thats a beautiful supe, definately a bargin!
  24. Give them a call mate, mine was nearly 2yrs old and they replaced it no bother
