  1. The company is Norwich Union Direct. Been with them in the past for motorcycle insurance and had no problems with them when I had to make a claim. It was all sorted out very smoothly. Sorry, Throttlehappy, but I'm 40 at teh end of this year, so don't expect these sort of numbers when you get your quote. In fact, I don't think NUD will insure drivers under 25 on a car over 2.0 litres. I'll post in the insurance thread as I got a quote off Houghtons last night too. £928. Not a bad price as that is what I was expecting NUD to ask me for, but £670 is a real bonus!
  2. After writing off a Supra about a year and a half ago, (When I had only 2 years No Claims Discount because I'd been riding bikes for years) I ended up having to take out insurance on another Supe last February with NO No Claims. For the GZ aerotop TT it was over £1300. Anyway, this year I thought it might come down to maybe £900 to £1000. I was getting fed up with paying £134/month and was looking forward to saving a bit of cash. Then the insurance renewal hit the door mat. Opened it up and had to check they had definitely got the right model etc. as it is now £670! This year I can pay over 12 months (last year was 10 monthly payments) at £56ish a month. That's nearly £80 better off per month!! Happy Days!! Who was the insurer? Let's just say I've been Quoted Happy. (And whilst I do actually work for a company in the same group as this insurer, the only discount I get is that I can pay in installments without being charged for the credit.)
  3. Re your insurance. Act of God??? What about Storm damage? That should be covered. Sounds like someone has fobbed you off. However, I'd need to check whether you would be able to claim on your house insurance or whether you would have to claim on your car insurance. Oh, and isn't "Lucky" in the 'More Than' insurance adverts as oppose to Norwich Union?

    Joke

Nothing that can't be sorted out with some antibiotics I hope, Rosie? (Sorry, couldn't resist!!)
  5. Geoff, you said that the 2nd turbo came in at 4k, but not with a rush. But then you say you want a Supra 'Completely standard inc wheels if poss, but NO other mods whatsoever'. Don't get me wrong, but if you get one with the completely stock exhaust system with the cats still fitted, I wouldn't expect TOO much of a rush from that 2nd turbo. Good luck with your search, but remember, if you can buy one at a lower price than the car is worth for its' age and condition, hence saving maybe a grand or two, you can make a great car out of it to your own spec. Even facelifts are up to 8 years old now. Most of them aren't going to be absolutely mint.
  6. We'll be there! Si + 1 Angie Brian (Soop Dogg)
  7. West End Girls Pet Shop Boys. Saw some stuff similar to this in Minneapolis in winter. It gets down to -45 deg. F. (Yes, that's 77deg F of frost) When there's a cold snap, it might get up to -30F by lunchtime. Not a cloud in the sky, bright sunshine and -30F!! 3 to 4 feet of ice on the Mississippi River and cars driving across it using the slipways to get back on land. Bizarre!

  9. Nah....forget the cooling probs at the front, get a rear Modena style rear bumper too, then put two rads in the back, with nice big fans and hide them behind some mesh! Or has someone else done that already???
  10. Me 'n' Angie. Camping Beausejour. 17th 'til 20th.
  11. This may sound an obvious thing to say, but the more weight you're carrying, the more damage you might do to your joints. I want to do some running, but I think I'll be out on the bike first for a month or two to get my weight down before I go back to running. (All down to Christmas of course.....cough!)
  12. LOL!! Looks good mate! Look forward to seeing it at the next meet!
  13. Well done guys...looks sweet! I'm sure I'll get all the details and a few 'war wounds' stories at lunchtime someday this week then!
  14. Glad it works now. I thought it was hilarious!
  15. What team then? It'll give us an extra feeling of involvement when we watch the MotoGP's!!
  16. This may get moved to Members only NWS, as it probably isn't particularly worksafe, but you have got to try this: Test Hilarious!!
  17. Perfectly worksafe: JOKE: Customer: "I want to download the Internet. Do I need a bigger hard disk?" Download the Internet HERE Leave it downloading for a minute or so.
  18. Just to expand on this a little. In 'MANU' mode, L = !st Gear only. 2 = 2nd Gear only. (First gear will not engage even when pulling away from stopped) This allows you to pull away from a standstill in 2nd - useful when you're on a slippy surface/snow etc. D = 2nd AND 3rd gear. Overdrive (the apparent '4th gear') does not operate in Manu mode at all. Also, using 'Manu' mode makes the transition of gear changes a bit quicker. (But when the foot is down hard, also a bit harsher) Useful for when you do standing 1/4's at Santa Pod etc.
  19. I have those black bits.....lying in a corner at the back of my garage! I had a plate made up to cover the JDM size hole. Go to Fancyplates.com You can order plates to be made up to custom sizes.
  20. I have cat insurance with Allianz Cornhill via Norwich Union Direct. I know they also cover dogs and offer a feature whereby if your pet develops a condition that requires treatment for the rest of his life, it's covered - for the rest of his life. Good one to get when the animal's young! I'll see if I can dig out a link for you tomorrow. Beautiful dog, by the way!
  21. Nah...that's top stuff. We all need to be reminded of how things can go wrong once in a while!
