  1. Exactly. Plus the fact that these things are not a Calibrated device like the ones used for the substantive breath tests in Police Stations. They should only be used as a rough guide. Personally I think people use them to 'drive to the limit' and many get caught out. Better not to bother drinking.
  2. Remember, 'Driving with Excess Alcohol' is different from being 'In Charge of a Vehicle with Excess Alcohol' in your body. For the first of these, if found guilty, you WILL lose your license. For the latter you CAN lose your licence, but this will depend on the circumstances and the magistrate has some discression. If you are supervising a learner, you are deemed to be in charge. But to answer your question, Yes, it is illegal.
  3. Normally this is correct, but you CAN request the details of a vehicle's registered keeper in certain circumstances. One of these is if you find a vehicle parked on your land, you can use this process with DVLA to obtain keeper details and pursue the owner to remove it/charge them for keeping it etc. Not sure what other circumstances there are.
  4. I've had an auction pulled for trying to sell a Red Bull motorcycle jacket. They reckoned I couldn't have a pic of the Red Bull Logo or use the name 'Red Bull' in the advert!! Thought about putting it back on with the logo blurred out and say something like "Red Bovine Animal"! Pathetic, particularly when you see so many people use the HKS advertising pics on their ads for a SSQV BOV obviously against copyright.
  5. Went from having Nokia for years. It's different, (but that's not necessarily bad) but I find it easy enough to use. As for gimicky? Well the LACK of features made it one of the least gimicky phones I could buy. It makes calls - I wanted a phone. I have a camera for taking pictures! I bought it for its' looks and style.(Got the black one) And it's comfy to use too. Had it about 3 months and love it. I know a girl with a pink one (V3 that is!) and she seems to like it enough too. (She paid about £200 for hers when they first came out - DOH!)
  6. It just bolts in directly, metal to metal. I have a spare front subframe I could take some pics of if you like?
  7. But you will need a pipe between the rear cat and the backbox, won't you?
  8. Something you aren't telling us, Ian???
  9. Hey, I asked her what she wanted and she said a BOV, so that's what she's getting. (SSQV variety) If I got her something else she'd be well miffed and I'd never be forgiven. (She also got some other things too like a coat and undies) Oh, and rather than do the Mail Order thing with Tiffanys, I'm taking her into Tiffanys in New York in a couple of weeks to see if there's something she'd like. Is that good enough?
  10. Buy her a BOV! That's what I've got Angie! (Don't worry, she already knows!) The main reason was because I nicked hers about a year ago and she keeps nicking my car now just to play with the 'whoooshing ' noise. Now she can drive her own Supe again with a smile on her face!
  11. Sandpaper. Insulating Tape. PTFE Tape.
  12. You could try all 3 ways and release them as 'Cheesecake1.0' etc?
  13. "In God We Trust" a national motto??? Not this nation. That's an American phrase isn't it?
  14. And as he wants a TT aero, it'll probably cost a little more than your £6000-7000 for the car too.
  15. My in-laws were awake when this happened this morning and quietly reading a book and they heard it..........in Norfolk!!!! Apparently they have had reports of people in Holland and Belgium hearing it. Something to do with a blanket of warm air over this part of europe and almost no wind meant that the sound (and now the smoke) was unable to penetrate into the upper atmosphere and instead spread sideways. Bizarre! Looks a mess down there though!
  16. You aint going to make it to the Normandy Landings sites from Le Touquet and back to Calais in a day. The Normandy beaches (Gold/Sword/Juno/Omaha etc) are west of Honfleur which is about 170 miles from Le Touquet.
  17. You don't mean 40 years since Chernobyl happened do you? It was 1986. Anyway, I don't think we can compare old nuclear power plants with what can be built now. Interestingly enough I was listening to a discussion on this very subject last week on radio 4. Johnny Ball was on there giving some interesting facts. New nuclear plants produce less than 10% of what we have had in the UK up until now. Denmark tried the 100% reliance on wind power idea in experiments in some areas and it won't work. It is just not realistic to depend on wind for a steady power supply. In Denmark, theyre lights kept flickering! A PC would run well in those circumstances, don't you think? So what would happen to business users who rely on a good supply? We all know The best way of producing energy is by generating enough heat to boil water into steam and use that to power turbines. When water boils, it almost instantaneously expands to 600 times its' original volume. To get this amount of energy from any other type of turbine would take hundreds of the damn things. In the UK we would need a few hundred thousand of them.(can't remember the exact figure but it was in this region) Wind will only ever account for about 30% of our power. That might even be a little optimistic! We are due to decommission old reactor sites. These can be used for the new ones. I reckon that at the moment we don't really have a huge choice but to accept nuclear power like the rest of Europe.

    5th Gear

email sent. Oh....and I suggested that our fastest girlie (Angie) does the driving just to rub salt in 5th Gears' wounds. She's up for it if they are. What do you think?

    5th Gear

Yes, but they tried the 200mph thing first. I've been thinking about this. Should we bombard Top Gear with emails asking them to try to beat 5th gear to the 200mph barrier for little over half of what that Esprit has cost them by using a Supra? It's a long shot. But it just might woik!
  21. Wow indeed! I didn't even see him take that drink!!
