  1. Lol! That was a good day out. And the Police coming round asking who was doing donuts when we were at the photo-shoot down at the ship yard! Lots of 'Not me officer.....' Happy days.
  2. About 2 weeks is enough. This year we used a Tom Tom Go Sat Nav unit which is a Godsend! Being able to select "Avoid Toll Roads" takes you through some beautiful countryside and villages etc. It also means that when you arrive in a town later than you planned, you can find hotels/restaurants easier! I don't think we did much more and 200 miles most days. Usually about 130 to 150 with a day or two at the start and end of the holiday where we did maybe 250 to 300. There's something about discovering places by yourself. Oh - and go and see the Millau Viaduct - it's awesome!
  3. I've done two of these in the last couple of years. I love it! We only ever book the boat/tunnel and then wing it from there. Don't like having to keep to a schedule as we always find somewhere we like but had never thought of staying in and then stay there for a couple of days. Angie and me did the Pyrenees this year and the Alps 2 years ago. Personally I recommend the Alps for spectacular scenery. They Pyrenees are beautiful too, but the Alps just have the edge for me. Great for getting good pics! When we did the Alps, we ended up just outside Monte Carlo for 3 nights. That was fun! A fantastic experience and I'd recommend doing something like this at least once in your life.
  4. Yep, that one is in Monaco. Where the F1 circuit comes out of the tunnel and down to the chicane, the cars was parked just over the wall to the left of the circuit. What you can't see there is the 550 Maranello parked in front of her! At least I'll have some nice pics to remember her by if someone buys her, I guess.
  5. Attached is actual correspondence which occurred between a London hotel's staff and one of its guests. The London hotel involved submitted this to the Sunday Times. --------- Dear Maid, Please do not leave any more of those little bars of soap in my bathroom since I have brought my own bath-sized Palmolive. Please remove the six unopened little bars from the shelf under the medicine chest and another three in the shower soap dish. They are in my way. Thank you, S. Berman -------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Room 635, I am not your regular maid. She will be back tomorrow, Thursday, from her day off. I took the 3 hotel soaps out of the shower soap dish as you requested. The 6 bars on your shelf I took out of your way and put on top of your Kleenex dispenser in case you should change your mind. This leaves only the 3 bars I left today which my instructions from the management is to leave 3 soaps daily. I hope this is satisfactory. Kathy, Relief Maid -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Maid -- I hope you are my regular maid. Apparently Kathy did not tell you about my note to her concerning the little bars of soap. When I got back to my room this evening I found you had added 3 little Camays to the shelf under my medicine cabinet. I am going to be here in the hotel for two weeks and have brought my own bath-size Palmolive so I won't need those 6 little Camays which are on the shelf. They are in my way when shaving, brushing teeth, etc. Please remove them. -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Berman, My day off was last Wed. so the relief maid left 3 hotel soaps which we are instructed by the management. I took the 6 soaps which were in your way on the shelf and put them in the soap dish where your Palmolive was. I put the Palmolive in the medicine cabinet for your convenience. I didn't remove the 3 complimentary soaps which are always placed inside the medicine cabinet for all new check-ins and which you did not object to when you checked in last Monday. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Your regular maid, Dotty -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Berman, The assistant manager, Mr. Kensedder, informed me this A.M. that you called him last evening and said you were unhappy with your maid service. I have assigned a new girl to your room. I hope you will accept my apologies for any past inconvenience. If you have any future complaints please contact me so I can give it my personal attention. Call extension 1108 between 8AM and 5PM. Thank you. Elaine Carmen Housekeeper -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Miss Carmen, It is impossible to contact you by phone since I leave the hotel for business at 7.45 AM and don't get back before 5.30 or 6PM. That's the reason I called Mr. Kensedder last night. You were already off duty. I only asked Mr. Kensedder if he could do anything about those little bars of soap. The new maid you assigned me must have thought I was a new check-in today, since she left another 3 bars of hotel soap in my medicine cabinet along with her regular delivery of 3 bars on the bath-room shelf. In just 5 days here I have accumulated 24 little bars of soap. Why are you doing this to me? S. Berman -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Berman, Your maid, Kathy, has been instructed to stop delivering soap to your room and remove the extra soaps. If I can be of further assistance, please call extension 1108 between 8AM and 5PM. Thank you, Elaine Carmen, Housekeeper -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Kensedder, My bath-size Palmolive is missing. Every bar of soap was taken from my room including my own bath-size Palmolive. I came in late last night and had to call the bellhop to bring me 4 little Cashmere Bouquets. S. Berman -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Berman, I have informed our housekeeper, Elaine Carmen, of your soap problem. I cannot understand why there was no soap in your room since our Maids are instructed to leave 3 bars of soap each time they service a room. The situation will be rectified immediately. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. Martin L. Kensedder Assistant Manager ------------------------------------------------------ Dear Mrs. Carmen, Who the hell left 54 little bars of Camay in my room? I came in last night and found 54 little bars of soap. I don't want 54 little bars of Camay. I want my one damn bar of bath-size Palmolive. Do you realize I have 54 bars of soap in here. All I want is my bath size Palmolive. Please give me back my bath-size Palmolive. S. Berman -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Berman, You complained of too much soap in your room so I had them removed. Then you complained to Mr. Kensedder that all your soap was missing so I personally returned them. The 24 Camays which had been taken and the 3 Camays you are supposed to receive daily (sic). I don't know anything about the 4 Cashmere Bouquets. Obviously your maid, Kathy, did not know I had returned your soaps so she also brought 24 Camays plus the 3 daily Camays. I don't know where you got the idea this hotel issues bath-size Palmolive. I was able to locate some bath-size Ivory which I left in your room. Elaine Carmen Housekeeper -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mrs. Carmen, Just a short note to bring you up-to-date on my latest soap inventory. As of today I possess: - On shelf under medicine cabinet - 18 Camay in 4 stacks of 4 and 1 stack of 2. - On Kleenex dispenser - 11 Camay in 2 stacks of 4 and 1 stack of 3. - On bedroom dresser - 1 stack of 3 Cashmere Bouquet, 1 stack of 4 hotel-size Ivory, and 8 Camay in 2 stacks of 4. - Inside medicine cabinet - 14 Camay in 3 stacks of 4 and 1 stack of 2. - In shower soap dish - 6 Camay, very moist. - On northeast corner of tub - 1 Cashmere Bouquet, slightly used. - On northwest corner of tub - 6 Camays in 2 stacks of 3. Please ask Kathy when she services my room to make sure the stacks are neatly piled and dusted. Also, please advise her that stacks of more than 4 have a tendency to tip. May I suggest that my bedroom window sill is not in use and will make an excellent spot for future soap deliveries. One more item, I have purchased another bar of bath-sized Palmolive which I am keeping in the hotel vault in order to avoid further misunderstandings. S. Berman
  6. Thanks Homer. I have something in mind, but I'll know better by next week.
  7. Edit: Taken off the market until springtime. I am returning this car to stock and reducing the price to open it up to a bigger market. The aftermarket parts will be available shortly as separate items. List to follow.
  8. Decided to sell up and move on. Just put the car in the For Sale section. Comes with loads of spares, but initially these are only available with the car as I want to get rid of the whole lot. This car has done me proud over the last few years and I'll be sad to see her go. I put alot of work into getting her to the standard she's now at and won't be easy to let go of. Time to move on to something else I think. Link to for sale thread HERE
  9. Oops - wrong Section!! You should be HERE (I think!)
  10. Here you go. CLICK The yellow Coupe at £25,500, about 6th one down RHD Corvette C5, 2001. Conversion kit for this car was apparently £8500! PLUS fitting!! I almost bought this car just the other day but he was being stubborn on the price...
  11. I also have one. It should be in very good condition, but it's been in a box for a while and I need to take a look as I can't remember just how good it might be.
  12. I seem to remember the prop shaft is 2-piece?? I'll have a dig in my garage if you like. There's a sub-50k mile one in there somewhere!!
  13. I have one that's had a Gibson & Boyne re-trim. Still in new condition as I never used it as it came with a car I bought a few years back and I put my own wheel on it. (It had only just arrived back from being re-covered when I bought the car.) I'll take £50 as it's virtually new. PM if interested.
  14. Have you ever had an engine go pop on you before then? In the case of a bottom end, it's usually a case of 'by the time you can hear it, it's already too late'. Try it sometime!
  15. 0-60 for a single? Big question that as it depends on the size of the turbo you put on. The bigger the turbo, (generally) the slower it spools up and gets on boost. (But when it does it really takes off.) With a single, 0-60 isn't really where the car's aimed at. Look at 60-140 and it'll be a huge difference over stock. 0-60 in some cases could actually be slower in a single.
  16. Check all the vacuum hoses for any leaks/splits etc. You may have an air leak somewhere. Good luck!
  17. And by the way - only Black cars allowed from the looks of things!!
  18. I have the scoop on mine and Angie has hers without. I fitted the scoop a couple of years back with most of the gubbins under the hood. However, if you have a strut brace, you have to remove the ducting on the underside of the bonnet as they hit each other. Also, if you want to fit one, make sure you fit the sticky strip arount the base of it VERY well otherwise it leaks water every time you wash the car. Mine leaks for about an hour even on a hot day until I take it out for a run. Makes a mess of the nice clean bonnet and is a right pain in the @rse!! But it does look nice IMHO.
  19. See you tomorrow. Going to be a quiet one!!
  20. Sorry, but you got this wrong. If you're not in MANU mode, you select 'D' and it will start in 1st and go through all the gears in sequence. Select '2' and it will start in 1st but not allow you to go beyond 2nd until you move the lever into 'D'. Overdrive will only be engaged after 3rd if you have it selected. Now press the MANU button to select MANU mode. If you start in 'D' you'll start in 2nd and the shift will allow you to go as far as 3rd but not allow overdrive to engage. Select '2' and it will start in 2nd and hold 2nd until you move the lever into 'D'. The only way in MANU mode to get 1st is to select 1st.('L') Overdrive doesn't operate in MANU mode. Got that?
  21. I've changed role recently so no longer get callout. However, up until a month or two ago I got paid as follows: Disturbance - Paid EVERY time you get called out: £14 PLUS £35 per hour if during the week. £42 per hour if at the weekend. So a 2 hour callout on a Saturday morning paid me £98. (Wish I still did it!)
  22. I did say that I had posted it before, but it was in response to one of those 'how much do you think this is worth' threads that most people don't bother reading, so I thought I'd put it in it's own thread. At first I thought this was actually shoved into a Supra engine bay. The rails behind the headlight and the plastic bit at the bottom of the windscreen look so Supra - but now having looked at the enlarged image I reckon you're right - it is actually an FTO engine bay. Dealer had me fooled for a while!! (DOH!)
  23. I mentioned this in another thread a few days ago, but it seems not many people saw it. This is absolutely bizarre. I'd love to see how the drivetrain is configured! CLICK It's the Aerotop with 79,000 miles. 2nd advert down. Just take a look at the pic of the engine bay!
