    HTC Mobile

This is where I was heading in July, but I've been reading about the HTC Incredible S which seems to be capable of outperforming the Desire HD - said to be (just about) the current flagship model. The thing that would sell it to me would be the 4" screen instead of the 4.3" on the Desire HD. (Hopefully I've read all the info right!)
  2. He'll keep and FULL years of NCB that he's already earned. However, how far through his current insurance year is he? He'll lose any of the current year and have to start that year again when he starts another policy. Also, if he's more than a couple of months through his current year, he may find that he'll get less than about 20% of his unused annual premium returned to him - if he's lucky! If he's unlicky, he'll get almost no refund at all.
  3. Nah - 'Christine' was a Chrysler Corporation piece of rubbish! (And wasn't she a '58?) Chevy FTW!
  4. Right then....who's going to start with the Muslim jokes now.....?
  5. There is a way you can schedule a text message, but not from your phone....however - it can look like it's from your phone. I have an account with fastsms.co.uk I pre-paid £10 for a bundle of sms messages @ approx 10p each (inc vat). I log onto my account on their website and I can enter the text for the message and I can then enter the 'name' that will show up on the recipient's phone as the originator. (i.e. if I enter 'Elvis Presley' in the 'From' box, that's who it'll say it's from) I can then choose to send the message immediately or schedule a time and date for it to be sent. Could this be just what you're looking for?
  6. Our servers are almost all virtualised now and I always snapshot prior to applying updates. (And we only choose certain updates that are relevant to us) When it comes to sql stuff, (such as the recent SP4) I normally apply the updates to my witness server first and leave it a couple of weeks before applying it to the (physical) principal or mirror servers. This has reminded me that I need to get our servers up to date next week! I know this isn't helpful with your current situation, but maybe something for the future?
  7. Hate to pick you up on that one, Digsy, but if you see a car's indicator flashing, all it proves it that his indicator works. If you pull out in front of him, you'll be at fault for not giving him right of way.
  8. Prices are bad all over Europe - when it comes to Unleaded, we're by no means the worst. Diesel is a bit different as we are taxed more highly on that here than almost anywhere else. Check this post from earlier this month: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?238682-This-country-sucks.....&p=3025566&viewfull=1#post3025566
  9. Just out of interest, if you pay tax - is that by PAYE? If not, then i presume you complete a Tax Return each year - where do they send your tax return to make sure you get it?

  11. Been with Virgin since before they were Virgin. (NTL a few years back) Service has been brilliant. Only offline once for 24 hrs when someone knocked over the local junction box in their car. (Can't really blame Virgin for that) Only had to use the helpline once and that was during the above incident.
  12. Nothing other than sending the log book off to DVLA like you would if you bought a car on the mainland. N. Ireland is part of the UK, so you can just register yourself as the new keeper and drive it. Oh - and if it has a N. Ireland reg. number, keep it on there - it won't cost you anything to do so and you've then got yourself a free non-year related plate. Bonus!

  14. Have you seen some of the roads out there mate? And then there's the other things to do with how you'd have to live your life - 10 days annual leave per year, massive bill each month for medical insurance.....
  15. The shopkeeper is called Syed Shah. Hmmmm......
  16. Nope - mine is pre 23rd March 2006. £245 for me. And if I had a US import, I'd have to get the European Certificate of Conformity if I wanted to sell it in Europe.
  17. Well, the Supra has fantastic memories for me and I wouldn't ever have done things differently than I did. I absolutely loved my Supra. I bought a C5 Corvette and my Supra stuck around as I couldn't quite bring myself to sell it. 2 years later and a chap came along and bought the C5 - while the Supra was still sitting under the car port as if to say 'I saw you arrive here and I'm watching you leave! I'm still here...' Anyway, I then bought the C6. The Supra was gone within about 2 months. I don't want to offend anyone, but the Supra was an older car and so maybe it's not fair to compare them directly. It'd be like comparing a 1993 Porsche 911 against a 998, I suppose. The corvette is also very different as it's a 6-litre N/A, so the power delivery is very linear. Handling is quite superb and the whole experience (with the soundtrack and all that!) is just awesome. I now feel that I'm in the place where I want to be with my car, and nothing else really matters. I was this way with the Supra for a long number of years, but I moved on when something came along that was a worthy replacement. That'll happen again one day when I move on from the C6 I guess... Someone mentioned insurance prices - my C6 costs me £360 ish per year with an Admiral multicar policy, and because it's a UK market car, I think this makes a difference like it would with a Uk Supra.
  18. Not as much as you might suspect. Most owners use these as a 8-10 month-a -year weekend car anyway - if they can afford to spend cround £25k+ for a weekend toy, and with the mileages that many of them do, the fuel isn't that much of a problem. Also, despite what the reviews say, the C6 is cheap to run. Since October 2009, I've averaged just a shade under 25mpg. Obviously, over that amount of time, it's had a good spread of uses - from cruising down motorway to climbing Alps & Dolomites, to driving around the country roads in Norfolk where I live. Best tank (and this was from full to empty) was 29.8mpg - worst was about 18. I normally get about 24 which is a sight better than I ever got in my TT. There is no major service until 100,000 miles, the minor services normally cost me around £110 at a specialist (including the oil and Filters) and if I should ever need parts, (which in close to 3 years of ownership I haven't - other than filters and a pair of front pads and a set of wipers) I know they'll be much cheaper than most of the parts I ever bought for the Supra. Tyres are the only expensive thing as I won't change away from the runflats. The last set I put on were about £900, but as they last me about 3 years, then I don't think that's too bad. They're not a large volume car (UK sales wise), so you're not really competing with loads of other sellers, and because they're LHD, you can sell them to Europe (they'll pay good money for a well looked after one) which means you're not just restricted to selling to a relatively small uk market like you would be with a RHD Porsche/Merc etc. Oh yeah - where's this 1p/litre drop coming from in April? I just heard that the 1p/litre rise might not happen. Not quite the same...
  19. Lol. The TRUTH about Toyota factories in the US is because a certain Mr Bush introduced an unfair trade policy that meant that the US car buyer would have to pay more tax on cars that were made outside of the US. So Toyota built factories in the US, paid higher labour costs (giving jobs to US workers who can then still pay taxes into the US economy), because it was still CHEAPER to do all that than to bend over and take the US's unfair and protectionist trade policy up the wrong 'un!
  20. Don't bet on that price becoming a reality. 'vette prices have hardened in the last couple of years. Since the pound has dropped against the dollar, it's been so expensive to import one from the States that it's barely worth doing. Then there's the Euro. Since the pound also dropped drastically against the Euro, AND the fact that they charge huge purchase taxes in most European countries on cars like this, the UK has become the absolute bargain basement for Europeans to pick up cheap 'vettes - that's why you can barely find a good 2nd hand Z06 for sale in the UK - and those that are for sale can ask top dollar. My C6 isn't a Z06, but I've had it for over 2 1/2 years and I could probably still get back what I paid for it if I were to sell it today. Even C5's are still holding their value well too. Awesome car though! I love my C6. I wouldn't buy the Z06 because I like the targa roof, but I'd have the new Grand Sport. (Z06 body & brakes, but with the LS3, 6.3 litre motor - plenty good enough for me.) And yes - the sound is awesome! Oh - yeah - as for not being well built - I will agree that the interior isn't up to the standard of a 911, but then it's cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain and the Chev smallblock is bulletproof.
  21. As others have said, stay alert and treat other road users as idiots. Think that everyone else is out to get you - this means wearing bright stuff and getting the best lights and helmet you can for a reasonable cost. I ride a similar distance to work as you every day now - started last year when I got a new bike on the cycle to work scheme. I've lost weight and feel so much more healthy these days - not to mention feeling really awake after getting into work and having a good shower. Enjoy yourself and be safe mate.
  22. Just buy a deVilbiss and be done with it. For good.
  23. Excellent! I'll be watching this as ever. Come on Ireland!
  24. We drove to Venice a couple of years back. Not sure I'd stay actually IN Venice during the tourist season, but it really is a fascinating place. Couldn't believe the price of a coffee in St Marks Square though!
  25. Bloomin' heck! After it took me about 10 evenings to get gold in the final part of the intermediate AMG Merc (the 7min 05sec one), I've not gone back yet to do the advanced section. Which part would you say was the most difficult? If it gets much harder than gold final test in intermediate, it'll take me forever!
