  1. Didn't see the other thread you refer to, so am not sure if I fully understand all the symptoms you might be experiencing, but the blue smoke is likely to be valve stem oil seals if you're getting it after letting it idle for a while. Get those hoses back on - you have 2 that have come off there. The one you've obviously spotted as you're holding onto it, and one has come off the VSV in the background also.
  2. As Chris says, if the shells had gone you'd very likely lose enough oil pressure to bring on the oil light at idle. It sounds just like a sticking valve to me. (When it releases and pops up to hit the cam) I've heard one that sounded just like that before. As you lift the engine speed, it tends to get less too. Have you had any work done around the top end recently?
  3. God - all the memories flooding back in this thread!! Tom Petty - Learning to Fly is my ringtone at the moment! Don Henly & Patty Smyth - Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough. Sarah McLachan - In the Arms of an Angel. Goo Goo Dolls - Iris. The Jeff Healy Band - While My Guitar Gently Weeps. (Cover) Prince - Nothing Compares 2 U Matchbox Twenty - If You're Gone. Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever. Queen - Love of my Life. I'll think of more....
  4. I got all confused! DaveM.....DaveK.....Porsches.....Jags.....must be that I'm getting old!
  5. Glen Fergusson - Sales and Marketing manager for a brand new Californian Porsche dealer. Has lost his job and faces possible legal proceedings as the company strives to reclaim the costs of the 18 Porches given away free under Glen's Opening day "buy one get one free promotion" "I admit I didn't really do the numbers properly on this one" said Glen who told reporters that he had "seen the concept work really well for coffee stores" and in terms of numbers you could argue that Glen's campaign worked. As the new Porsche dealer sold 18 Porches in the first hour of the store opening. It took the head office a full hour to realise what was going on and subsequently shut the store. Local man Bruce Stepper took out a second mortgage on his home after getting a promotional flyer in his mailbox. "I am ecstatic - I brought a shiny red Porsche today, got another one free and I have sold just sold it on EBay, all up I end up getting a Porsche 911 for $5000" Jane Cameron was arguably even more entrepreneurial. The local Janitor purchased a Porsche using the dealers "no deposit finance plan for low income earners", sold both cars, paid off the finance account and walked away with $120,000 profit. The finance plan was another one of Glen's initiatives that has now been cancelled. A red faced Glen stated "I have never really been too good at Math and I was sure the whole time we were making money - I was initially blown away by the amount of cars we were selling in that first hour. I had seen the "buy one get one free card" work extremely well for the new coffee shop down the road and thought what a great idea I will try it here." National spokesman for the dealership chain was quoted as saying "We are just glad that the idiot didn't have time to run with his 'test drive 5 cars, get one free loyalty stamp card' campaign.
  6. Put it this way, how much slower does your car feel with someone in your passenger seat? (And they'll be loads heavier than a space-saver spare wheel)
  7. 'fraid so. In fact - at lunchtime I picked up a pair of fronts for the price I was hoping for. (Sorry...)
  8. Me neither - I'm in the market for a FULL set (fronts AND rears) and was hoping to get them for under £100. I let my fronts go for about £40 for the full set.
  9. Thanks, Charlotte. So does everyone else it seems. There's a lot of really nice stuff being submitted this year. I just try my hardest to get a location that's different.
  10. Here's my effort. This is under the worlds' tallest bridge, the Millau Viaduct in France at about midnight on a full moon last October. The pier closest to the car is just about as tall as the Empire State Building! Oh - and it's not photoshopped.
  11. Here you go: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=18132&d=1121282730 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=18134&d=1121285233
  12. Which ones? There's at least 3 O-rings per injector. There's one at the top for anti-vibration, a large one in the midle and one at the nozzle. None of them are very expensive (pence each) and should normally be ordered in in the usual 2 days.
  13. I haven't bothered posting in this until now, but I've been around here for almost as long as Ian and I've seen some of the 'experts' that have come on here to bestow on us the 'benefit' of their wealth of knowledge. Apart from the rear subframe thing, he hasn't said one thing that we haven't heard before. ALL that he has said can be found by someone who has a passing interest in finding out about the MKIV and a bit of time to look around the 'net. The ONE thing he has given us that is new is, as I said the rear subframe info. But when asked about some info regarding how this happened and to explain one or two things, he's followed the now tried and trusted (not to mention well-worn!) path of 'ooh this is just causing bad feelings - please lock this thread - sorry I mentioned it.' I'm not saying whether he's right or wrong, genuine expert or a troll. But his behaviour in the face of searching questions is somewhat familiar. Bob, how about some details of where you worked? Where testing was carried out? Anything that would REALLY take inside knowledge? Might just help your case here mate.
  14. ok then - look at this CLICK It's on plug E10, pin 16 (TACO) Or you could buy a Saxo instead?
  15. Which is exactly what I told you when you asked this question before!
  16. This year is the 30th anniversary of when I first went out to the States as a kid. (Got a foster family out there in Minneapolis) We're going this year (first time in 8 years) and my foster mother doesn't know anything about it! Can't wait to see her face when we rock up!! She'll be a little shocked I reckon!
  17. Saw one just outside Minneapolis in 1999 - they look MASSIVE from behind! (not to mention very cool!)
  18. Sorry guys, but you should have watched sky channel 992 - BBC2 N. Ireland. The match against Sweden was excellent. Even when N. Ireland don't win, at least they play their hearts out - that's all anyone can ask I suppose. Great result, great entertainment and now top of their group.
  19. You mean you want to give your sister one???
  20. Right - I posted the following two pics in the Scenic Views thread, but I guess I shouldn't have done as I should only be putting my one entry pic in there. Is it ok for me to post them here for a couple of days to canvass opinions about which is better? I can't decide if I like the colour or the B/W. Also, would it be best in Scenic Views/Arty/Supra Portraits?
  21. There is an RPM feed at the ECU that you probably should be using...
