  1. Ottawa shift system - I'd forgotten about that one! Yuk!
  2. Both of mine are autos. and my wife used to have an N/A. None of them have been THAT different on fuel consumption. So, can you tell us what sort of economy figures you're getting here? We're trying to help - I don't want to see you not enjoying your car simply because it has a problem that would cost under £100 to fix. (and NO, that wasn't an offer to fix it for you! )
  3. Or oil coming out of somewhere onto the tyres - but I'm sure he'd have spotted that....
  4. We have both a TT Aerotop and a TT hard-top and with the roof in the aerotop the difference cannot be noticed - either on the road or on the track. Obviously with the roof out, there's the usual flex and scuttle-shake, but really, when the roof is bolted in it does feel every bit as solid as a regular hardtop.
  5. Damn - beat me to it!!
  6. Has anyone tried Pandora.com - that's usually good for finding music of a similar type to something you like. And it's done by real people - not a computer. I've discovered some bands I'd never heard of before using this.
  7. I have a feeling the on ein the pic should be rotated through 90 degrees clockwise to be in the right position. Even then it really doesn't do a lot though!
  8. Is that because you're driving everywhere blatting it about and enjoying the power? Power costs - you have to burn more oxygen to produce more power - then you have to supply more fuel to burn the extra oxygen - there's no other way to produce big power without blowing the engine up I'm afraid. This is what made us all suspicious of your 'device' in the first place. Out of interest, what are you getting to the gallon in the new car? If it is really excessive, it may just be that something isn't right - like an O2 sensor gone up the swanny - but it really shouldn't be THAT different from your NA....
  9. Hey, don't get me wrong people - I don't understand it either. I think it's daft too, I just think that sometimes we have a go at other cultures for not understanding our culture, when they do something that we don't understand in ours. Maybe we all need to give each others cultures more respect. (nah - that's an ideal world scenario isn't it? Never gonna happen so I'll shut up!) Anyway - here's an even bigger example of something in another culture that you really couldn't make up: http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/ukfs_news/hi/newsid_4740000/newsid_4748200/4748292.stm Made me laugh!!
  10. Hang on - they're having a go at what happened because something which is perfectly normal in our culture is obscene in theirs. Now we're calling them ridiculous. Could it be that we're not affording their culture the same degree of understanding that we demand they give to ours??
  11. I remember when I worked as a motorcycle courier a few years back, getting a job to go Manchester direction from Norwich. I thought I'd go via the Cat & Fiddle, (hadn't been on it before then) but I wasn't going to be there until after 11pm and this was in the winter. I hit this particular road late on in the evening and it was in thick fog. (Not ideal.) I remember cursing at myself inside my crash helmet as I got just about every corner wrong! Probably lucky to get away with it! I've ridden it many times since and on the right day it is absolutely awesome.
  12. No problem. I'll give you a shout.
  13. My wife - Angie off this site is going to be selling her '93 Black TT auto in the very near future. 76k miles on it, cherished plate, HKS Super-Dragger exhaust with stainless steel pipework, HKS SSQV blow-off valve and with the option of RLTC fitted to it too. It'll be around your budget too. Let me know if you want me to contact you when it goes up for sale.
  14. It's ok until you look at the size of the rear side windows - they rather give the game away!
  15. Yes, the airbag and cover (the black leather-look bit with the Toyota logo on it) are one piece. I bought one of these about 2 years ago.
  16. There was once a Supra going around with Aston Martin badges on it too. Anyway - Calibras. Seeing this thread reminded me of the thread I saw just a couple of days ago on Pistonheads. Seen this yet?
  17. Yep. What started out as an interesting debate seems to me to have descended into pointlessness. I love you all - peace and harmony to everyone and all that - but I'll go read other stuff around the forum now.
  18. I don't profess to know what you mean, I only know what you actually said. It's not my fault if you can't express yourself. You said "They all use the same useless babble!", clearly stating (as if fact) that the 3 books mentioned by Penguin actually ARE using "useless babble". If you meant to say "They all use [what is in my opinion] the same useless babble!" then perhaps you should have done so, then perhaps I and everyone here would have known what you meant. Sorry, but if you are going to pick holes in what I say, then expect me to return the favour.
  19. Oi! Leave him to his opinion - after all he's entitled to it - this is after all, a democracy! (Oh - that's your line isn't it? Or have you changed your mind now, given up on democracy and decided to dictate to everyone what is and what isn't the truth just because it's what you believe?)
  20. You wish! I've been around too long to walk away just like that, new boy. This site is too valuable a resource to me and besides, I'm a lifetime member, so you'll have to put up with me a while longer. I didn't mean to upset anyone - I simply thought it reasonable to ask that people don't post inflamatory comments for the sake of it. By all means, be amused if it amuses you, but if by posting things like "Did the voices in your head tell you that?", you're only going to wind someone up, then why post it at all? Perhaps I missed some deeper meaning in the question? I know we've all been guilty of this in the past, but wasn't this when we poked fun at some kid at school to get a reaction? The comment I was referring to was quoted in my original post - sorry if you missed it. Perhaps you can explain just how it contributed to the discussion and put forward a point of view or argued against another point of view? As for democracy - where did I say that people can't express their opinion? In fact, I said "So what if people have different beliefs?" This comment in itself accepts the fact that people will have different points of view and indeed suggests that they should all be accepted as such - points of view. What I was objecting to was when the discussion (which is what this started out as) falls to the level of simply making derogitory comments such as this. This is not contributing to the discussion and is effectively un-democratic as it is ridiculing someone for their beliefs. So, Matt, if you class my opinion that proper and fair discussion should be encouraged amongst the members here without resorting to snide comments as not being democratic, then you obviously have a different idea of just what democracy is? My comment about the site going down hill was separated from my other comments because it referred to many other things that have been happening here over recent months, not just the direction taken by this thread. This is my say, Matt. Thanks for letting me have it in true, democratic style.
  21. Oh that's helpful - really helpful. And so this goes on...and on.... So what if people have different beliefs? Why try to wind them up repeatedly? This is achieving nothing but prolonging what is now a pointless thread - it's not even a discussion any more. This whole site is going down hill rapidly I'm afraid.
  22. We found this happened to my wifes Supra after a trackday last year. Prior to the trackday, I had replaced the brake fluid on both of our cars. (As well as transmission fluid, diff oil etc, etc.) When bleeding the brakes, I always just 'nip' up the bleed nipples - they cartainly were not over tightened and there was no sign of cracking when I bled them. But a few days after the trackday, the warning light came on and we found the fault on the passenger side front caliper. (J-spec. 1993) This is obviously a common thing to happen to at least the early cars and if you drive your car in a 'spirited' manner regularly, I suggest you keep an eye on this. Or of course, you could change to UK brakes.
  23. This sort of thing is horrible and don't you just hate it when some people say you shouldn't get so upset about a pet - they're like members of the family for god's sake. Really sorry to hear this mate.
  24. How about these? And they'll fit over UK brakes if you ever need them to. 18" Braid Interlagos 3-piece split-rims. All tyres are good too.
