He's a stripper - didn't you know? (Must be careful as he lives within walking distance/stone throwing distance now!) Great bloke - mapped my EMB a year or two ago and fuelling was perfect. He knows his stuff with the EM units.
  2. Over 150 views and not one comment? Have we priced this wrong, folks, or is there something else that's putting people off?
  3. Sounds muscular, but every injury is different - and when it comes to your neck, you don't want to take any chances by accepting that something said on an internet discussion database is going to necessarily be good advice. Get yourself off to a doctor or to the hospital just to make sure they haven't missed anything. (I'm assuning you sought medical attention after the crash...)
  4. With more than 96% of the greenhouse gasses in the atmoshphere being produced naturally by the planet itself, how much difference will our contribution to reducing human ouput really help? (Especially if China and India etc don't cut back their output too) If this is all just part of the natural cycle of the planet, then are we just being misled by our politicians? Shouldn't they really be encouraging a proper debate within the scientific community rather than just accepting one side of an argument that TBH seems rather flawed?
  5. Has anyone wlse been a bit concerned about how the whole 'global warming' and saving the planet thing is becoming like a religion lately? It seems we're getting hit with messages every time I switch on the TV these days. I know global warming is happening, that's not really in dispute, but I think there's enough evidence out there that conflicts with the environmentalists arguments to at least spark off a proper debate as to what is really causing it and how much of it is really down to the human race. I find all the politics surrounding it a bit worrying really.
  6. ....large quantities of vaccine...... (There's a place in Surrey, I believe...)
  7. Depends on the wheels and how many botls hold the pieces together. e.g. on the Braid Interlagos split rims, there are 70 (yes 70!) bolts holding them together so the torque settings are pretty low - less than 5Nm as I recall. But on a set of volks or something that only has about 20 bolts holding them together , the bolts will be much bigger and will need to be much tighter to keep the rim together. Speak to Ibrar jabar on here regarding the best sealant. I used some stuff from Braid that they use at the factory and it was excellent. This was after building the wheels twice using the best DIY household type sealant I could get hold of and it really wasn't up to the job.
  8. Did anyone else notice in the post qualifying interview on Saturday (I only saw the relevant bit on the news - not during the qualifying coverage) when Lewis scratched the side of his head with his middle finger? (Flipping the bird at Alonso in the process) I'm sure he did it deliberately as he had a wry smile on his face as he did it! Made us laugh!
  9. As I was in Minneapolis a few weeks back, I've been keeping an eye on how they're dealing with the recovery and investigation etc in the Twin Cities following the collapse of the 35W bridge. It seems that stranger things than collapsing bridges have happened in recent days! Man Loses Testicles
  10. There is no law that compells you to change the odometer over to read in miles.
  11. Today at Blue Boar Tescos in Sprowston at about 6pm (ish) Black 'L'- reg in the car park opposite the filling station. Bloke in the drivers seat. Angie and myself were in the yellow Corvette convertible that went past looking in your direction.
  12. Not quite true. I re-watched the ITV coverage and what Damon actually said was that he wasn't sure if it was 'against the regulations' - it was certainly 'against McLarens own regulations', but he said he was unsure about the FIA regulations. Impeding another competitor is the same whether it's your team-mate or not. (Evidently)
  13. Ok, ok - but if he can do it in a straight fight, then let him get on with it. And I'm not sure i would do the same thing in a similar situation because the driver I'm messing about with is my teammate. It's a PR suicide for Alonso.
  14. Reminds me of a lot of people here who slated him for those tactics then too! I think this sort of thing doesn't help the sport as people will feel they were denied the spectacle of seeing who would really have come out on top. Ron won't like such accusations being levelled at his team the way they were back when Hakkinen and Coulthard engineered the finish to the Australian GP some years back.
  15. I'm not sure it will actually. To take the positive from it would be to consider Alonso as being desparate. If he really is the best in the world, he shouldn't need to resort to doing something like this. Plus he'll have a bollocking from Ron Denis for this so will know he's pi$$ed off the boss. At the end of the day, McLaren are 1st & 2nd in the championship. Either driver could win for the team - and to Ron, that's what's important - the team. I think Alonso should remember that the team is bigger than he is - both drivers should be doing what's best for the team. What with all the other legal stuff going on at the moment too, this isn't a good time to be seen to be doing underhand stuff like this. I can imagine what Ferrari are saying - 'Look - McLaren can't even play fair within their own team'. Alonso - now knows he can't win in a straight out fight, so he'll do it by unfair means. Tw@t.
  16. That's on the XG1000 standalone gateway unit. I have the unit that requires the PC to run it, so I don't know about that one. Give them a call - they're pretty helpful. I ran mine for the best part of a year without the remote service account and just had it email me with a video attachment when it picked something up. However, I myself wouldn't really see a problem with being compelled to pay for an account should I upgrade to the standalone - it's cheap for what it is. Even a bog standard house alarm costs for a service contract and it doesn't touch this for flexibility. Being able to have a look at the house when we were away was just so handy.
  17. I just pay the subscription - the reason you pay is because you store it remotely on their server. You pre-pay for 3-monthly access, and it can be from £5.95 to £11.95 pre month depending on how much storage you think you'll need. I was off on holiday in June and paid for the top account, but I can downgrade it when it falls due again if I like. Not a lot of cash for the peace of mind - especially when it costs so little for the cameras etc. You don't HAVE to have the remote access - you can set it up just to email you the videos it records, but I like to be able to control the system and look at live video if I choose to. They also do power controllers that you can plug lamps etc into and can control them remotely. Electric curtains could be a good idea!!
  18. Hmmmm.... I've tried google-ing for the "Homesight AK-47 Upgrade Package", but I can't seem to find it anywhere....
  19. TBH, anything with the VW/Audi 1.9TDi in it - reliable and very frugal. Golf will have it in. Angie has an Audi A6 which is knocking on for 160,000 miles and no probs with that engine at all. I know of one with over 250,000 that's still going strong too!
  20. Like everything else, at least part of this is down to insurance. If they don't have the signs up and endeavour to make the customer comply with the warning, they will invalidate their insurance.
  21. Yep - about £200! Really pleased with the setup. There's a number of cameras around the place, front/rear/indoors etc. with door/window sensors and a remote keypad. It's all event driven by macros that you define yourself. i.e. on a specified event, you have a particular device carry out a specified action. It stores video or still images remotely so even if someone breaks in and takes the computer, I still have the images on a remote server, as well as having them sent to my email account. You can have it notify you by SMS too and I can access live video via the internet. (Was able to turn night vision on and off from the states last month as well as completely configuring the whole system - seemed funny at the time!) Well pleased with it - had it for about a year now and have just expanded the system this summer with a couple of extra devices. Here's a link to the company selling the stuff. There's now a standalone unit that doesn't need the PC to be on to run it. (Just need the PC to set it up) They have a sale on at teh moment too...
  22. I wondered that too. He'd better bring a spanner - they're on tighter than that! And the video will catch him too!
  23. Was checking the footage from the camera at the front of the house the other day when I came across THIS Obviously didn't mean any harm, but the cheeky little sh*t was half way up my driveway! Recorded this tonight when it was lashing it down outside too. Worth having these cameras - I was able to keep an eye on the house (inside & outside) when on holiday recently too - well worth the money for peace of mind of knowing the cars were ok!
  24. I think you'll find that insurance policies are dealt with under different legislation. Worth checking before jumping in on this one. You'd find it on the FSA website.
  25. I've gone through the disbelief of having a finance company call me up saying, "You've got our car" and wouldn't want it to happen again. (And this was a car bought from someone I knew and trusted as 'genuine'!)
