Little coverage? It was top story at 8am on BBC1 this morning and they must have spent a good 10 mins on it. A great man indeed. Brought Opera to the masses and seemed like a nice chap too. RIP big fella.
  2. I think you might upset one or two around the site with that comment. 7K = scruffy? There've been one or two gone for that sort of money that are actually quite tidy. Angie is selling hers for £6650 at the moment and it's anything but scruffy. We just didn't feel that in todays market we could justify asking much more than that. Prices have dropped big time - live with it. We started at £6995 expecting to have to drop the price. As for UK manuals, it's been a while since I saw a stock one in what could be described as only fair coindition actually SELL for anything approaching 10 to 12k. The one being discussed here doesn't sound like a great example of the Supra.

  4. Sad indeed. When it happened to me though, I didn't let it go from my driveway until I'd reached an agreed settlement with the insurance company. They wouldn't give me what I wanted for it (not even close to market value at the time) and the calls went back and forth for about 2 months until I had made so much of a nuisance of myself that when I agreed to accept their original (very poor) offer on the condition that I could keep the salvage for free, I think they agreed just so they could get rid of me! Worked out well though. I'd been fighting for an extra £1500 on the settlement figure, but instead I ended up with salvage that paid me over £5000 as I stripped every last nut and bolt off the shell. I had to take the shell to be destroyed, and I remember going to collect the certificate of destruction. On my way out of the place, I saw the shell of my car sitting on the side of a pile of scrap metal on its' nose. It had been picked up by its' roof which was all crumpled and the screen was smashed. Brought a tear to my eye to see it like that. I know what you're feeling just by remembering that day. Things will get better mate, believe me. You'll be back in something nice sooner than you think.
  5. Here's the two videos that I posted before. The first one was a movement activation, the second was taken when I requested the system record a 10 second clip remotely. Notice they both also have sound. This particular camera also has night vision. I have another camera elsewhere that has a halogen light next to it and they both come on together. (The neighbours might get annoyed if I had a halogen light at the front of the house so it's nice that they do the night vision cameras)
  6. IP cameras are the expensive bit. (About £165 for one that you can tilt and pan remotely with) I have the Motorola Homesight setup which I can monitor AND CONTROL/ADJUST from another computer, like I did in the States when on holiday. It stores video remotely, so even if someone breaks in and steals the PC, I still have the video. It also emails me and has the facility to text me on any event I define. (e.g. I can just have it record & email/save video from some cameras, but if I have one that should NEVER activate unless somethings wrong - like inside my garage or in the lounge etc. then I can have only activations on that camera result in the system sending me a text) My system doesn't use IP cameras, but the new one does. (The XG1000 standalone gateway) Details HERE PM me if you want any more info.
  7. Oi!! I resent that remark! Not all yank cars handle like a blancmange!

'Bout ye, mucker! Welcome to the forum, I'm sure some of the other NI lads will be along soo to say hello. Congrats on getting a great car there too!
  9. What age are you? And what insurance companies have you tried? If you get an N/A, it'll be an import anyway - and insurance isn't much cheaper (if at all) than if you had an import TT. Then if you modify your N/A with a single turbo conversion, it'll be even more to insure - maybe more than a stock TT import. Shop around some more on the insurance first before thinking it'll cost stupid money - you might just find the difference isn't quite as bad as you have been told.
  10. Perished oil seals, seized/binding brake calipers, gummed up injectors, possible tyre problems. I'd want to drive it on a 20 mile loop and then give it all a good look over first (check out how warm those discs are too!) before setting off on the 200 mile journey.
  11. That's pretty much it. I know what you're saying about left hookers - that puts a lot of people off. TBH though, Angie and myself don't even think about that any more! Running costs have so far been considerably less than the Supe. (Not least because I haven't been doing any modding - I like it how it is!) Fuel-wise, I'm averaging about 23 mpg, but I can get 32 to 34 on the motorway cruising at about 80mph. Oh - and it runs on cheapo 95RON fuel!
  12. I actually failed to GIVE a set of these away last year!
  13. What email address is she using?
  14. We had something like this on one of the Corvette Forums in the US. The seller was telling everyone the car had come her way following a divorce settlement and she was in England. So I offered to check it out over here for anyone interested in the US. I emailed the 'seller' asking if I could come and view the car. I just kept getting replies to the effect of 'I want to use Western Union' or whatever and saying she would pay for delivery to my door and totally ignoring the suggestion that I could come and view the car in person. Never did get any further than that. Scammers - I hate them!
  15. £500 saving on insurance? You're obviously looking in the wrong places for insurance on the TT in that case! You should be able to insure the TT for about the same as an N/A. (Crazy, but true!) Plus I don't get the logic about spending over £1k (maybe £2k) too much on the car so you can save £500 on insurance? But at the end of the day it does look nice, I'll give you that. And it's your money - don't let anyone here make up your mind for you. Just seems expensive - at the end of the day, no matter what bodykit it has on it, it's still a 12 year old N/A under there.
  16. Nice looking car and all that, but I'd rather be able to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. N/A's are ok if you're happy to have hot-hatches biting at your heels, but that's a pretty high price for what it is. There's one or two TT's on the For Sale board for not much more than that.
  17. Angie and myself have both run 13's in bone stock TT's. My first TT ran 13.68 in factory trim. (both cats still in place etc) Angie ran 13.47 in a totally stock car too. Decatted and with a FCD, (running at 1.1bar) I ran a 12.87 - no other mods whatsoever. (How cheap was that!!) TBH, I've never had a totally stock TT that hasn't seen mid 13's.
  18. My other half positively encourages me to either mod my car or in the case of the last year, buy the Corvette as I had been pining for one for a while. (Had an old 'vette years ago) A couple of years ago, I found that I had to calm HER aspirations down regarding spending money on modifications. (I failed though! )
  19. I agree - it's lost its' "Jaguar-ness". Looks like a cross between a Hyundai front, a Lexus side view and an Aston rear end. The S-Type was a retro thing which was loyal to the heritage of the brand. Why can't they keep that in the range AND introduce a modern all-new style car too? The S-Type is still a good seller for Jaguar.
  20. free bump for you Angie. This section seems to get busier every day!
  21. I have one with master cylinder still attached. £80 delivered if you're interested?
