  1. And don't forget that when you go to insure it, you can't go telling the insurance company it's an import TT - you have to tell them it's a modified N/A. That can bump your premim up considerably.
  2. Dr Watson is part of Windows. Here you go: http://www.computerhope.com/software/drwatson.htm#01
  3. Brake Fluid. If it was an engine trouble code, it wouldn't go off and come back on again. It'd stay on until you turn the engine off. If it is low and you've still got plenty of pad left, be sure to check for leakage around your front calipers. There have been quite a few that have fractured wround the bleed nipple. (Voice of experience on this one I'm afraid)
  4. All this talk of RLTC and throttle control and no-one seemed to notice that the front slid too? Sounds to me like it started with understeer. Maybe the road was just very slippy. If the front went too, then throttle control won't have had much to do with it.
  5. I'm not sure changing your brakes will help you get traction. Glad to hear you didn't do any serious damage though. If this was on an business park, it may have been that there was something slippery on the road surface - diesel etc? Take it easy out there.
  6. Here you go: (Just the rears - the fronts are different in this pic) They actually still have good tyres on them. (Pirelli PZeros - I think they're about 275's) Will have to measure the tread if you want to know. PM me if you're interested.

    Site Slow?

Is it just me or is the site reeeeaaaalllllllyyyyyyy slow tonight? It's worse than being on dial-up here! Everything is fine - I've been on other forums and youtube etc, but it's just slow here. Ayone else having problems?
  8. In that case I may have a pair of 17's that you could be interested in. Volkrace AV3's, 5-spoke split rims. I'll dig out some pics later if I get a chance.
  9. For ages they were always quoted as 4.9 manual/5.1auto
  10. Nice one - amazing graphics & love that music too. As we're on the Linkin Park stuff, I thought I'd post this - sorry it's not Supra related, but Hey - we're all petrol-heads here - right? (Plus the fact that this car is my new 'other woman'. )
  11. Now that would have been funny! (But I'd guess you would have had to be there for that too?)
  12. What Chris said is how I've always been told to avoid this - handle it - a lot. (The ferret that is...) And preferrably from a young age.
  13. Thought I'd stumbled into an internet auction site for a minute then! Any advance on £150???
  14. When the roof is bolted in, Aerotops don't have any more handling problems than the hardtop. I think I have fair experience in this department as we've had 4 Supras, 2 hardtops and 2 aerotops in the last 6 1/2 years. Yes, with the roof out, there is a major difference, obviously. But with it bolted in, you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between the two. (If you could tell at all)
  15. I work for a major UK insurance company (NOT a broker) and we send out certificates straight away on policies being paid by instalments. I've never known anything else. I'll check with my CII books or check with the FSA and see what they say. I don't see a problem with sending out an annual certificate straight away as if someone fails to pay, their insurance can be cancelled and they then have a duty in law to return the certificate. This would also appear on the MID. (Motor Insurers Database)
  16. I'll be putting mine up for sale in the near(ish) future. It's a black TT aerotop auto. Unfortunately the mileage is about 99k, but I had the head off it last winter whilst doing the valve stem oil seals and I've reseated all the valves and had the head refaced at a local engineers shop too.(I have some pics of inside the head) Should be good for another 100k now! On the plus side, the paint is extrememely good (I never use the word 'Mint' in relation to a second hand car, but this is about as close as you'll get - believe me) as I had it resprayed about 3 years ago at a cost of nearly £3k. Pics are here, but it will come with UK 17's, not the wheels in he photos as I'll be selling them separately. And, Yes - this is the car on the club 'calling cards'. What do you reckon?
  17. I'm really only saying that I'm pi$$ed off with the whole GW thing being rammed down my throat every time a commercial break comes on the TV or every time I listen to the news, and that I think there is sufficient evidence around to raise the question, "shouldn't we take a closer look at all of this?" Balanced honest debate is what I'd like to see. It just seems to me that politicians are accepting as gospel the GW argument without the other side being particularly well represented. A lot of the evidence supporting the man-made global warming argument is approaching 10 years out of date. Even people like David Bellamy are becoming sceptical in the light of new evidence that some of the conclusions drawn from ice-core studies in the 1990's was flawed. And, yes - the energy companies have bankrolled Bush, but as they are now also responsible for at least a fair percentage of cash going into finding alternative energy sources, it might yet be in their interests to limit consumption. If alternative energy sources turn out NOT to be viable in the near future, then it will definitely be in their interests - not to just limit consumtion but to control it.
  18. This so reminds me of 'Television, the Drug of the Nation' by The disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. The song must be 15 years old or more, and although much of it is of American reference, it seems to become more relevant every day. Take a read of the Lyrics: one nation under God has turned into one nation under the influence of one drug [chorus:] Television, the drug of the Nation Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation (2x) T.V., it satellite links our United States of Unconsciousness Apathetic therapeutic and extremely addictive The methadone metronome pumping out 150 channels 24 hours a day you can flip through all of them and still there's nothing worth watching T.V. is the reason why less than 10 per cent of our Nation reads books daily Why most people think Central Amerika means Kansas Socialism means unamerican and Apartheid is a new headache remedy absorbed in it's world it's so hard to find us It shapes our mind the most maybe the mother of our Nation should remind us that we're sitting too close to... [Chorus:] Television, the drug of the Nation Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation (2x) T.V. is the stomping ground for political candidates Where bears in the woods are chased by Grecian Formula'd bald eagles T.V. is mechanized politic's remote control over the masses co-sponsored by environmentally safe gases watch for the PBS special It's the perpetuation of the two party system where image takes precedence over wisdom Where sound bite politics are served to the fastfood culture Where straight teeth in your mouth are more important than the words that come out of it Race baiting is the way to get selected Willie Horton or Will he not get elected on... [Chorus:] Television, the drug of the Nation Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation (2x) T.V., is it the reflector or the director? Does it imitate us or do we imitate it because a child watches 1500 murders before he's twelve years old and we wonder why we've created a Jason generation that learns to laugh rather than to abhor the horror T.V. is the place where armchair generals and quarterbacks can experience first hand the excitement of warfare as the theme song is sung in the background Sugar sweet sitcoms that leave us with a bad actor taste while pop stars metamorphosize into soda pop stars You saw the video You heard the soundtrack Well now go buy the soft drink Well, the onla cola that I support would be a union C.O.L.A.(Cost Of Living Allowance) On television [Chorus:] Television, the drug of the Nation Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation (2x) Back again, "New and improved" We return to our irregularly programmed schedule hidden cleverly between heavy breasted beer and car commercials CNNESPNABCTNT but mostly B.S. Where oxymoronic language like "virtually spotless", "fresh frozen" "light yet filling" and "military intelligence" have become standard T.V. is the place where phrases are redefined like "recession" to "necessary downturn" "Crude oil" on a beach to "mousse" "Civilian death" to "collateral damages" and being killed by your own Army is now called "friendly fire" T.V. is the place where the pursuit of happiness has become the pursuit of trivia Where toothpaste and cars have become sex objects Where imagination is sucked out of children by a cathode ray nipple T.V. is the only wet nurse that would create a cripple [Chorus:] Television, the drug of the Nation Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation (4x)
  19. There are a number of things that really hack me off about the whole environmental debate. (Or NON-Debate if you like!) The world is warming up - I'll accept that on face value. It seems to be true at the moment anyway. However...they say Carbon Dioxide is the most relevant greenhouse gas. Man's total contribution to global carbon dioxide levels is less than 3%. Most of that comes from industry and power stations etc. Only a relatively small proportion of mans C02 output comes from his use of cars. The motorist gets slammed for driving a powerful car, yet when UK power stations reverted back to burning coal when gas prices went up last year, resulting in an increase in C02 output for the whole of the UK of almost 25%, in just one year, the government, instead of criticising them and slapping extra taxes on coal, said that they would have to find 'new incentives' to encourage the power companies to use gas. So they'll now commission some study that will cost the taxpayer millions to find out how we can 'encourage' them to reduce their carbon footprint. The other thing that I hate is the fact that they increase taxes on higher polluting cars, based on their manufacturers figures for each vehicle when new. So, if you maintain your car in perfect mechanical condition to ensure that it runs as cleanly as possible, but it has a large engine, you'll pay stacks more than some to$$er driving around in a 1982 Ford Orion being followed by a huge cloud of black smoke because he doesn't bother with getting that 4th cylinder running and will just bin the car in a couple of months anyway and buy something just as bad for £50 to get him to work because he hasn't a hope of getting the Orion through an MOT. Or some hippy who reckons we should all save the planet, but insists on driving a 1972 beetle, leaving a trail of oil and fumes behind him everywhere he goes and doesn't even have to pay road tax because the car is exempt. (Did you know that if a beetle isn't leaking oil, it's probably because it's empty?) I really think there is a reasonable amount of evidence to suggest that our planet is heating up as part of a natural cycle. I believe we need to reduce pollution - but for the good of our own health - not of the planet - our effect on the global warming thing is neglible. To heat something the size of our atmosphere and our oceans takes centuries - not the less-than-100-years that we've been doing heavy industry. Some day someone will come up with the evidence to back this up and we'll all finally see that the government have been taxing us to the hilt for nothing. Currently there is probably enough evidence to at least justify a sensible debate, but nobody seems to be able to shout loud enough to be heard over the politicians and the environmentalists for anyone to say" hang on - let's think about this for a moment". Until that happens, we'll continue along in this rich vein of hysteria trying to change the physics of our planet and blaming each other for what might really be nature just following its' own rhythm.
  20. Do you need tyres to come with these?
