  1. Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 Regulation 105, No person shall open, or cause or permit to be opened, any door of a vehicle on a road so as to injure or endanger any person. Road Traffic Act 1988 Section 42 A person who ... contravenes or fails to comply with any construction or use requirement ... is guilty of an offence. I think you were in the wrong - sorry.
  2. Corvette C6 Z06 laps the Nurburgring in 7min 42secs. As it's American, and because the Nurburgring has lots of corners, I guess that has to be pretty slow then. (Others have been slower though - Murcielago(7min 43secs), Zonda S(7min 44secs), Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano(7min 47secs).......)
  3. It's not actually that difficult to get off - and forget all the tar/bug remover etc. As for T-cut, that'll get it off - along with a fair anount of your paint! I got my black supe covered in it a year or two ago - and you know how bad black is for showing stuff like this up! The trouble with tree sap is that it gets harder when it's colder. Give it about 3 washes with soapy water that's as hot as you can stand to put your hands into. It melts it enough for it to be absorbed into the water. Some will stay on the paint on the first attempt, but not as dots - it will just remain as a film on the paintwork. After about 3 washes your paint should be clear of it. Yes, it's a bit of a pain, but not as bad as trying to T-Cut it off. Good luck.
  4. A 16 wheeler! Cool! I only have room on mine for 1 in each corner. I feel so inadequate.

    Office smells?

:Stands well back from blue touch paper and puts fingers in ears:
  6. Having read further into the thread, I'll give you that one. However, there was a mention of the bike being pushed back the direction it had come from when it hit the car. (Which would suggest much more speed inovlved on the part of the car when they hit each other.) Even so, I doubt I'd attempt to park my car in the middle of the road, near a corner, straddling both lanes and then expect to get away with putting the blame on the poor sod who hit it - whether they should have been able to stop or not!
  7. Yes, that's right - but this is only going to save you if you come across a stationary object on your side of the road. If something comes into view travelling at speed towards you, that point on the edge of your field of view will already have been covered by the approaching object, and being capable of stopping by that point is no longer going to help. I too read the original thread on this when he was talking about the possibility of getting a custodial sentence and he admitted then that it was a case of him going into a corner too fast and losing control. His car was travelling sideways, covering both his lane and the oncoming lane. No two ways about it - I'm afraid it was his actions that caused this one. However, the point of the thread is to make us all think about how our lives could be changed in an instant. You could go out tonight for a bit of fun and suddenly because of your own actions, you or someone else isn't going to come home.
  8. £9000 for a '95 NA??? Without wishing to be disrespectful to NA owners, I'd have let them write it off and taken the money!!
  9. "very a cool", eh? If you're gonna call 'repost' on me, the least you can do is get it right!
  10. Well, your spare should be secured to it to stop it moving about. If you're that worried about shaving 1/2 a kilo(!) off the weight of the car, just go for a dump before driving it!

    Fame at last

Brilliant! I could hardly tell Angie what that was about because I was laughing too much.
  12. Lol - hadn't seen that before actually. What about Soccer AM's 'Yorkshire News'? Chuffin' Hilarious....nowt like it!
  13. Yep - good to get together again and good to see you there as a new member, Ian. Hope you enjoyed it - albeit too early to eat on a Sunday! See you next time, Brian & Angie.
  14. What's the problem with the car, Ian?
  15. I've been off the cigarettes for about 2 1/2 years now. Funny, but I didn't tell anyone I was giving up and didn't even promise anything to myself about never smoking again, but I did it. Just tell yourself to see out the day without smoking - that you'll have one tomorrow. Then when tomorrow comes, do it again. Keep thinking of yourself as a smoker, but you're just not having one right now - keep putting off your next cig. Pretty soon you're 3 months down the line and keep going. Good luck!
  16. I wish I had a litre of petrol for every time this was brought out. It's worth more!
  17. OMG a 9-speed auto!!! Whatever will they think of next!!
  18. Lol. I just bluff my way through each day at work.

    nurburgring?

Hmmmm....Supra at the Nurburgring in November...... Just don't go asking for your Christmas pressies yet - you just might want to change your mind about what you ask for by the end of next month!
  20. You're probably right. Hey - I know nothing about IT.
  21. And Adblock is an plug-in for firefox too, isn't it?
  22. That was my concern when I went to look at a RHD C5 about a year ago, but the C4 was the one that had that problem. The RH footwell was tiny as the engine & gearbox were slightly offset to the right. The C5 has a transaxle, so they didn't need to do this. Hence C5's in RHD have plenty of room. However, I wouldn't have one either. Factory RHD yank cars have been tried as official UK imports in the past and have pretty much without exception been a commercial failure. People who bought them have been left with cars that they spent a fair wedge on and are very quickly worth next to nothing. I seem to remember a cost of about £8000 for the conversion parts for a C5. Then you have to add on the labour if you're having someone do it for you. Not worth half that TBH. I'll keep my LHD C5 in preference to that any day! I'm actually starting to prefer it to RHD now anyway!
  23. That 'girl' talks? Not only are you old and cantankerous, Chris - plainly you are also insane!
