  1. Not sure - I'd have thought they should at least be above-board and say that they are videoing you. You could always get everyone in the meeting to request a copy of the video under the freedom of information act - that'd pi$$ them off!
  2. Motorycle road-racer Robert Dunlop died last night after an accident during practice for the NW200 races in Portrush, N. Ireland. It seems his engine seized near Mathers Cross at about 160mph, sending him over the handlebars. Another rider hit him when he was on the road. Robert died of chest injuries. These guys are heroes - forget the TT, this is mass start racing on closed public roads where over 20 riders leave the grid together just like circuit racing, but the roads are often narrow and surrounded by walls, lamposts, houses etc. Great to watch but incredibly dangerous. Unfortunately these things happen, I suppose. Robert was well aware of the dangers - his brother Joey died in 2000 riding in a road race in Estonia. I don't think either of them expected to go any other way than this - doing what they loved. http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/7403931.stm http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/nw200/watch/coverage.shtml
  3. "The Motherland Calls was the tallest building in the world when it was constructed, measuring 279 feet from the plinth to the tip of the sword." Did they get the year wrong or the height wrong, 'cos there's no way it was the 'tallest building in the world' at that height in 1967.
  4. Dunno really - I saw it ages ago with my wife and the thing in your description that sparked the memory was the bit about the girls father and his mates sitting in the restaurant late at night. It's a good film and I remembered it straight away. Glad to have helped you anyway!
  5. Try THIS Click on the trailer Guys wife dies and donates her heart. Then he meets the girl who received it but doesn't know she has his dead wife's heart. SHe works in her fathers restaurant - father spend the evenings playing cards in the restaurant with his elderly friends cracking jokes etc etc. Good film actually. Is this the one?
  6. DON'T use compressed air! You can put all sorts of cr@p over the sensor - mainly moisture and this will damage it. It's a piece of dirt on the sensor - you can get it cleaned at any decent camera shop for about £30. It's very common and isn't a fault as such. They use a tool to remove any particles of dirt etc that doesn't touch the sensor, but sucks the dirt away very gently. There are kits available to do the job at home, but I just get mine cleaned when necessary at a local camera shop. They can do it while I wait. Some kits use a brush, but I wouldn't recommend these - if you can do it without touching the sensor, this is preferrable. Google DSLR Sensor Cleaning - you'll find plenty of info.
  7. British weather has been declared Muslim It's partly Sunni but mostly Shi'ite
  8. Seems real from what THIS says. I also heard that this company lost 2 C130's in a matter of months.
  9. Maybe he was planning on a family re-enactment of 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'?
  10. Let's not start all that again!! Glad you're happy with it, Pete. Looks fine to me!
  11. Not going to see them, but I like their music. Some of Rob Thomas' solo stuff is good too.
  12. Stick it on Pistonheads in the Corvettes for sale section. The C6 Z06 fender badge lookes like this: If I had a Z06, I'd buy it!

I could actually go on and give examples of other models - particularly with regard to build quality, but I really don't have time today. Suffice to say there is one chap who found certain parts of the chassis had no corrosion protection at all and were rotting out on a 3 year old car. (Just unacceptable IMO) He made up the tools to fabricate replacement parts just for his own car. Before long, after speaking with other owners at meets etc. he had enough interest that it became viable for him to manufacture the parts as a business. Apparently it's quite successful too.... Anyway - sorry about the thread hijack - back to the Noble......

Really? Then read this: CLICK Check out the posts by BLUETHUNDER, SeeFive ad 427James Going on all of these owners experiences of poor reliability and high cost of replacement parts, I'll stick with the Supra and my Vette, thanks. I don't need those kind of bills! These owners have all now moved on from TVR ownership as the TVR's were financially bleeding them dry!

This is what I've heard too - the power that this engine puts out is massively beyond what the original (Ford lump) was designed to do. Saying it's highly stressed is apparently an understatement! I toyed with the idea of getting one of these about 2 years back, but in the end went with the massively under-stressed 5.7 litre LS1 engine in the C5 Corvette. In 18 months of ownership, I've changed the oil once and replaced the tyres. (which were the originals anyway) It's due a service in the next couple of months and that will be under £200. Nice car (IMHO) got loads of luggage space for going to Le Mans and cheap as chips to run = stress-free motoring! (Still have the Supe too though!)
  16. Details, details! Felixstowe/Lowestoft - same sh*t, different beach! (Still not as bad as Yarmouth though!)
  17. Welcome to the Forum mate. Good to hear you're getting your car sorted out bit by bit. I think I'd be a little miffed too if I was totally green on a car and someone who I thought I could trust because they put themselves forward as an upstanding member of a respected club told me a load of BS just to offload the car on me, then left me high and dry not answering any calls to ask for help. I'm sure you appreciate (as most here do) that it's 'buyer beware' and all that, but it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth when someone you thought was trustworthy leaves you with a car that's obviously not as good as they presented it to be and then didsappears of the face of the earth. What's this about the traction? Is this just the stock traction control or has it got racelogic/something similar? If it's the stock traction control, you can't conect it up to a computer anyway.

    Ireland

View of the 'Lagan Lookout' at dusk - not what a lot of peoples image is of the city. http://www2.iaaf.org/wxc99/images/portdusk.jpg
  19. In London (or any built up area) there's lots to get in the way of a blast to take the energy out of the explosion. The one at Lowestoft is on the beach - the shock wave can travel a long way over empty space and still have enough energy in it to do damage. From the news report I've seen, it seems the exclusion zone as a mile wide - i.e. 1/2 a mile in every direction around the bomb.
  20. Unless the opposition score more....

    Ireland

In the Republic - yes! (Particularly in Dublin) Northern Ireland is much cheaper as their economy is UK based. On the 'Visit Ireland' advert on the TV, the rope bridge you see is in N. Ireland on the north Antrim Coast at Carrickarede not far from the Giants Causeway. (which is also in the advert.) Not sure how many castles you'll get to see on the outskirts of Dublin - but you could always visit Dublin Castle in the city itself. It's quite an interesting visit. Both North and South are beautiful places. Belfast is a vibrant city these days too. I think the image of Belfast from the past (during 'the troubles') puts a lot of people off going there, but it's well worth a visit. Then, of course there's the Guinness - enjoy!

    Just been...

NEW cars had to meet the new regulations when sold after 1st Sept. 2001, but ANY plates fitted to a car after that date, where the car was manufactured after 1st January 1973 must also meet this new requirement. If you car was imported in 2000 and still has the plates on it that were fitted in 2000, then you're ok. However, as the Police will be able to see when your car was first registered, and as the majority of J-Spec Supras have come in since this regulation became law, you'd have to be pretty good to convince someone that the plates were fitted pre-September 2001 when they have just found on the PNC that the car wasn't registered in the country until something like 2004!

    How lame

No probs - in text you don't get to hear the tone that things are said in, and it's very easy to misinterpret someone elses comments or to be misunderstood yourself. (I get myself into trouble with that all the time) I think it was the 'God damn United Kingdom' comment used in post #7 that got me started.
