  1. You two can give each other a trim!
  2. It's Allegretto from Palladio "Bond" (who are better looking ) do a version of it HERE (Click on "Bond - Allegretto" in the player on the right)
  3. Or Bob Jackson? How about Bespoke of Settle?
  4. When I lived in N. Ireland in my teens, I did a lot of road racing. I was the nutter who cycled EVERYWHERE! I remember riding 40 miles to a race, riding the race and then riding home afterwards. Didn't think anything of it back then. I raced all around the UK and the Channel Islands with the RAF team and raced in the States in 1984 for a bit. Did a fair bit of time trialing too - used to ride long 22's or short 23's for 10 mile time trials. (That's minutes) Was never really much good at 25,s and never managed under the hour - I preferred road racing. In 1983, I did over 14,000 miles in one year - now I'd get out of breath going to the shops! I bought a used mountain bike recently and will use it for riding to work when I've rebuilt the forks. I really need to get a little fitness back! I still have my old hand-built Ellis-Briggs 531 frame lying at the back of my garage rotting. It was pretty special in it's day.
  5. I wondered that when I read it, but then thought it's ridiculous that in the 21st century, and in a supposedly rich nation such as ours, there is even a need for someone to have to do this at all. TBH, with beaurocracy the way it is these days, I'm surprised the hospital even let him use a 'home made' machine on their premises, never mind on a patient. Good result all the same though.
  6. If you were using a narrow apperture, (F11 and above) your focus really shouldn't have been out as the depth of field should have been pretty large. Was it down to the lens or were you using a fast shutter speed and then compensating for this by opening up the apperture to get the exposure right? This would have dropped your depth of field right down and meant that your focussing would need to have been really accurate. I know fast speeds are great for stopping action, but if you pan carefully, you can get away with 1/100th of a second and still stop the movement in the subject completely whilst having a nice movement-blurred background. If you stop everything, the car just looks like it's stationary. Sigma are very good by the way! (Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here...)
  7. What tracks are you looking for, Rosie?
  8. http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7542404.stm And I gave myself a pat on the back for wiring up an E-Manage to my fields harness!! Top bloke IMHO.
  9. Thanks Rosie. We'll still be around - and who knows? We just might be back again one day. I've only sold the Supe on the condition that we are the first to know if it should go up for sale at some point in the future!
  10. Yeah, I guess you're right. I love driving the C6, so I think I'll connect with it the way I did with the Supra. Don't feel guilty, Stan - I'm sure you'll love the car - we're just glad that it's going to someone who'll look after it! These phone pics are the only ones I have of the latest Corvette so far: These are of the C5 Corvette - the car at the end of the video, but it's gone now too and made way for the C6: Stickered up fro Le Mans:
  11. Thanks, folks. (And thanks for embedding it, Gaz) I just keep telling myself I've done the right thing. TBH, tha Supra needs someone to use it as it should be used and to look after it. With us, it was sitting under the car port for most of the time gathering dust. (under 1000 miles between 2 of it's MOT's isn't how it should be used!) The new owner will love it!
  12. Since deciding to buy the C5 Corvette almost 2 years ago, I've talked about selling the Supe 'at some time in the near future'. As things went, the Supe saw the C5 Corvette come and go and we've now got a C6 Corvette Coupe. Anyway, today I accepted a cheque for her. She goes next Saturday to a new member on this site. At one point Angie had to leave the room when we were sorting out the deal. We've had Supras for about 7 1/2 years now. I'm sure that the new owner will look after her very well as he's at least (if not more) obsessive about cleaning his cars than I am. I put the below video together over a year ago to try and convey how much of an obsession the Supra has been for both Angie and myself. The end bit was meant to allude to what we've moved onto, but is in fact now in need of updating. It's a bit rough around the edges, so try not to be too critical! I'll try to refine it at some point in the future..... I won't be going too far - I'll still lurk around here on a regular basis for now.
  13. Happy Birthday mate. I remember Thriller. Used to be on on a Saturday night didn't it? Same era as Tales of the Unexpected. Used to love both as a kid!
  14. You have to press pretty hard on the leather to reach the buttons in there too, but when you manage it, the headrests just slide off - you'll know straight away as they come off with no effort at all.
  15. Seen today heading west on Marylebone Road near Regents Park, M***AAR. Had black wheels with red rims. Anyone here?
  16. Have you ever driven one of these then? I drove one for a few weeks last year and I'm sure it was smaller than a Supe... (goes off to look up the dimensions.....) *edit* Mustang is 2.6" wider and 9.9" longer. Didn't feel bigger though....and it's certainly not too big for our 'B' roads!
  17. No, it's not an Esprit replacement - nor is it meant to be. Didn't I hear that might be a future plan, but a few years down the line yet?
  18. Have a good day 'in the valleys', mate!
  19. If you're careful by making sure you cover up any oilways and the spark plug holes, and use the right tool - the snap-on magnetic one is very good, then doing this job with the head on is a very good choice. All it takes is for you to take your time, take the right precautions and be careful what you're doing.
  20. Took these at the Corvette Nationals the other Sunday and I have to say, this was one of the sweetest cars I've ever seen. This was also there and was quite nice!

My 5.7 litre LS1 in the Corvette is miles better than my Supe. On a trip to France/Germany, I average around 30mpg for 2 weeks. That included some 'spirited' driving on the autobahn and getting stuck in traffic twice in one day in Stuttgart for a total of about 3 hours. In the Supe, I might get a best tank of around 26 to 27mpg, but over the whole trip, average would be 23ish. Hopefully the LS2 will be as good when I get it!
  22. In about 2000, I bought a Sony Vaio laptop. It had a 750MHz processor, 8Gb of storage and 64Mb (count'em - that's 64Mb) of RAM. Stupidly I also paid about £400 for 3 years of breakdown cover on it. The whole lot cost me about £2,200! Look at what £2k will buy you now!!
