  1. Applying that logic a bit further. Doesn't society here in the UK then have a responsibility to lock him away to protect the vulnerable? If only!
  2. Legally, insurers have to get policies (or changes/updates etc) onto the MID within 7 days. (It used to be 14 days until January this year.) Most insurers perform updates to MID within 24 hours, but as someone already said, if you're with a broker, there may be a delay before the insurer gets the data.
  3. Boiling water has always worked the best for me.
  4. I think I've got one that was retrimmed by Gibson & Boyne and has never been used since. I'd take £40 + p&p pm me if interested
  5. Yeah - Carlsberg don't do wedding dresses. But if they did......
  6. My mum has it and now suffers from Laryngeal spasms. Basically when her larynx goes into a spasm, it closes off her windpipe and doesn't relax until she starts to pass out. It's terrifying for her as she simply can't breathe for about a minute at a time. It's like drowning and all she can do is try to stop going into a blind panic. (Which is ok for 20 secs or so, but after that it's not so easy without air!) I reckon it'll give her a heart attack sooner or later. (She's 70)
  7. Get checked out - letting it go on long term may lead to more serious things like Barretts esophagus. (Wiki Link) You really don't want that - it is generally seen as being a precursor to Esophageal cancer. (Probably slim chance and a long way off, but get it checked out now mate)
  8. If it didn't make sense in silence, then yes, try it with volume turned up. 'Hoof Hearted on the left!' 'Hoof Hearted in the winners circle' etc. Just thought I'd start the day with a funny.
  9. Not as bad as the pics of the weightlifter whose rectum exploded out the back of his shorts under the strain. Now THAT was bad! :shudder:
  10. was actually a runner. (Horse, that is) In the US - naturally. (*NEEDS SOUND*) lol

    Indoor Cats

Going back to the name thing, another name I had in mind for my cat was Brembo. Decided on Shelby, though as Brembo sounded too masculine for a female cat. This is when she was a kitten and tired out after playing hard all evening. She's a British Shorthair and has never been outdoors. This is our other cat, (Pink) Floyd. He's also a British Shorthair, but is what is known as a Red-tipped. Under his coat is pure white, but the tips of his hairs are red. When he was a kitten this made him look pink. Hence the name. He's only ever been outdoors on a leash, but soon wants to go inside again.

Nah - didn't sound right. Mine is called Shelby. (And she's gray with black stripes)

    Ferries

Doesn't matter if the ramp is all the way down. If the ship is high on a high tide and the quayside slopes the opposite way to the ramp, your front wheels are still on the down slope (when exiting the ship) when the bottom of the front bumper has reached the up slope. Depending on the severity of the angles, and how low your car is (mine wasn't very low at all) you can damage the front end. Don't get me wrong - I used the ferries for years and insisted it was ok, but eventually I got off the ship at high tide and scuffed the front bumper quite badly. Fortunately it was a Stillen front end (flexible polyeurethane) and therefore I didn't suffer any cracks. (Which would have happened if it was fibreglass) At the end of the day, you'll probably get away with it, but the thing that determines if you do or not is totally out of your control. Hence why I now use the train.

    Ferries

I used to use the ferries a lot (mainly Speed Ferries) to go to France for Le Mans and other trips. During Le Mans they tend to have planks and stuff handy for those cars that need them. However, don't count on these being immediately available at other times of year - especially when getting off at the other end. The other thing is that to a degree, you're at the mercy of the tides. When the tide is high at Dover for example, the ferry sits high to the quayside and you end up with a steep ramp onto or off the boat. As the quayside runs downhill to the ramp, they meet in a steep 'V' and you have a reasonable chance of scuffing the front end. (As I did a few years back - fortunately it already had a scuff and was booked in for repaint anyway) I now use the tunnel. Make sure they put you on the bottom deck and you'll find the entrance and exit to be perfectly level.
  15. Just saw this - sorry to hear she has to go, John. I've just sold mine last week. (Finally got around to it!) For anyone interested, you'll be hard pushed to find a cleaner, more immaculate car than this. John has really done himself proud with how he's got this car to how it is today. It wasn't bad to start with, but it's truly immaculate now. Give me a shout sometime. Brian.
  16. The Supra has a non-interference head - the pistons won't hit the valves if the belt breaks, so don't worry tooooo much about it! The belt from Toyota is about £35 and the tensioner is about £50. (Cost me about £87ish last week from Steve Manley) It's a 2 1/2 hour job to do yourself if you have the tools. (Did one last week)
  17. I remember something similar to this but it wasn't wired remoted controlled. I seem to remember the cars had a pull cord thing that set them running and it was called 'Stock Car Smash-up'. Link

  19. Yep - rats are great. I once had 35 of them (Don't ask! The male got into the females cage and did what comes naturally) They're more sociable, cleaner, smell less and are generally far more interesting as pets than any other rodent.
  20. Cheers, Ian. Maybe I'll stop past the shop in it. Is it ok to pull in there for a couple of mins or is that not allowed?
  21. Well, she's gone. Picked up about an hour ago by the new owner. Have fun with her, Stan - look after her well - and as I said - let me know first if you ever think of putting her up for sale. Off to look at the Ecklers catalogue now for Corvette toys.....
  22. £20bn??? Well, at least it was entertaining - or at least more entertaining than throwing it at a failed bank with a screwed up idea of a business plan.... Who are the real mugs?
  23. The "7-second Ring King" is one of my personal favourites!
