  1. Fuel tanks were reduced to 90% of the volume of the tanks on the equivalent petrol cars in 2007. (The very wet year - when you were there, actually) I'll have to dig for the tech details, but I'm sure they were reduced further last year again too because they were still able to travel further with the 10% smaller tank and so spent less time in the pits. I do agree that they need to do more to level the playing field though...
  2. Hmmm...I still don't think they're anything amazing (to look at) - because diesel or petrol, they look pretty much the same! Audi R8 (Petrol) http://www.7extrememotorsports.com/lemans/cars/audi-r8-08.jpg Audi R10 (Diesel) I think the Bentley Speed 8 was the prettiest Le Mans car in a long time. http://www.7extrememotorsports.com/lemans/cars/bentley-speed-8-14.jpg And sorry for going off-topic!
  3. Don't be silly - everybody knows it wouldn't have made it into the air in the first place!
  4. I seem to recall about 3 years ago, Israel removed its OWN PEOPLE from the West Bank in a full and unconditional withdrawal from the area. The settlers were dragged screaming and kicking from their homes so that the Palestinians could have full possession of that area. This was in an effort to advance the peace process. Since then, Hamas has done nothing, and I mean nothing, to assist in further advancing the process. Ceasefires have been put in place and still rockets have been fired into Israel. Let's not forget that the Jews are a people who not so long ago were faced with extinction. Some of the holocaust survivors are still alive today. I am not saying that their past excuses what could be viewed as an over-reaction in Gaza today, but unlike prior to 1947, they now have a homeland and the military might to protect it. I can understand how they now want to make it very clear that you can't attack them now and hope to get away with it. Just before Christmas, Hamas declared that they would not be renewing the ceasefire when it ran out. They then fired more rockets into Israel. There is no way they could have hoped to gain anything territorially as they don't have the might, so what were they attempting to do? It seems they wanted to stir up Israel into an over-reaction to turn the rest of the world against them. Hamas doesn't care about it's own people. They are willing to place rocket launchers and it's own fighters into residential areas just so they can get video footage of dead and injured women and children to present to the world in the hope that someone (like Iran/Lebanon etc) will join the fight with a bigger stick than they have. I won't be signing up to anything that condones this. Sorry mate. Both sides have to start talking and both need to act and maybe give up some of their demands before they can start living together in peace.

The program about the company restoring old Mustangs into the 'Super Snake' Eleanor cars is on NOW on Discovery HD. Sky Channel 536
  6. Thanks for that. Good find. Looking forward to the new season already.
  7. rlol!!! Not being racist - but that was a piece of sheer brilliance! Nice thread, Michael. (Oh - and I got it.................by the way)
  8. Do you still have the docs for the car? You'll need the V5 AND the MOT to transfer the number if you get that far.
  9. Nah - not one of those - the door handles are different.
  10. I wish!! I was even too tight fisted to buy one until I was duty-free! Even then I had my doubts as to whether it was a good idea. Most of the Bose stuff was either bought for me for Xmas or I bought with money from my recent birthday.
  11. I bought a 120Gb Classic in duty free when going to the States in September. Had always thought I'd never go the iPod route myself, but now wouldn't be without it! I got an FM transmitter thingy for the car which works really well - just listen to my iPod on the radio which sounds great. (Bose system in the car) Just make sure if you get a FM transmitter that you buy a good one - some of them are cr@p. I got an "i-Luv" FM cradle which I have no complaints about at all. Got 3500 tunes on the iPod now and a few movies and TV shows. Still only used about 30Gb. It worked really well on holiday not having to dig out the CD's anymore. Downloaded some podcasts of radio 2/radio 4 comedy shows to listen to in the states too. When I go to London on the train, I just download a movie before I go and watch it on the journey. Great way to pass the time. I got the Bose Sound Dock for Christmas and a set of Bose headphones. Excellent bits of kit. Do I sound addicted?
  12. I like the battery that can run the laptop for a full 19 minutes. Also the comment about it being virtually unbreakable "unless dropped or hit"!

Indeed he would! I once had a 1973 Mach 1 with the 351 Cleveland motor. We removed all the emissions rubbish from it too to let the thing breathe a little as well as add a twin exhaust system with Cherry-Bomb 'silencers'. These didn't actually do much in the way of silencing it though - if you stood behind it while it was being revved, it sounded like a couple of repeating shotguns and you could feel your whole insides move from the intensity of the sound! Great low down grunt and acceleration off the line, but over about 60 there really wasn't much there in comparison to modern stuff. Handling was akin to an old bed, but it still made me grin to drive it through town.
  14. I think the £/$ changes have got less to do with interest rates and more to do with the expectation that our economy will be built on the foundation of borrowed money in the medium to long term. The UK economy has no substance behind it anymore as we owe more (as a nation) than ever and our capacity to earn money in the future is at best, questionable. US interest rates have fallen too and are now virtually at zero which rather reinforces this point of view as the £ has weakened much more than the $. At least the US has a base of manufacturing and farming to build upon. How this government thinks that they can spend their way out of recession when they'll have to borrow the money that they intend to spend is utter madness.

The company was Unique Performance of Dallas. The last I heard was they were shut down after they were accused of using car bodies that may have been stolen as they had had their original VIN numbers removed. Chip Foose broke off all ties to the company as soon as it looked as if there had been wrong-doing going on. Carroll Shelby also also pulled his licensing agreement with Unique Performance as soon as it began to look dodgy. Real shame as the cars were beautifully restored. http://image.mustangmonthly.com/f/8955389/mump_0607_04z+ford_mustang_gt_500+front_drivers_side_view.jpg
  16. Wow!! Way to nest those parentheses! Don't see much of that these days. Who says good grammar is dead on this forum?
  17. If that came out from under our bed, you wouldn't be able to see the screen for fluff!
  18. It was on the news at 8.15 this morning.
  19. When I turned 40, I decided to count in hexadecimal and told everyone I was 28. Trouble is it only works for so long. Later this week I'll be 2B.
  20. I like this one better.... Stupid Dog
  21. Some good points - it won't be just JLR that are affected by this - there's all the suppliers etc that make money off the back of them too. If they disappear commpletely, there'll be a lot of other (British) companies shutting their doors too.
