  1. Hi Stan. When the red triangle lights up, take a look at the spoiler switches. One has a light in it. If this is flashing when the master warning is ON (the red triangle) then that's where it's detecting the fault. Press the Active Off button (I think - it's the one that locks down when you press it) and try the car again - this should solve the problem. The red triangle is the master warning and when it goes off there is almost always a system specific light that will illuminate to let you know where the problem is that has caused the master to light up, so always a good idea to look around the dash for the second attention-getter. You should have pm'd me first!
  2. And the stock PCM (ECU) can be mapped using one of a number of available tuning devices/software that are available. (LS1Edit would be my choice) I have a contact for such software in the UK if you need contact details. As Jamie said, supercharging is the way to go if mental power is what you're into.
  3. 'Error of judgement'? Yeah - only just! Big barrier, flashing lights, sirens, signs telling you not to cross for your own safety because you might die etc etc. A little more than a simple 'error of judgement' I'd say. And i doubt if anyone is actually saying that people like this have any less right to live than anyone else, but if they choose to put their head in the lion's mouth, then sooner or later they can expect to have it bitten off.
  4. This is pretty much how it works. Oil prices quoted on the markets are for delivery 2-3 months down the road.
  5. Solstice - nice to look at but not much under the bonnet - although the GXP is a big improvement over the base model. 2.0 litre, 260bhp. They look quite tiny in the flesh.
  6. Not even new in here... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=136667 (Sorry - couldn't resist as I've had that done to me soooo many times before )
  7. Have to agree - Canon 450D would be my choice of entry level DSLR at the moment. I've had the 350D for a few years now and it's done me very well. The 1000D is ok, but I'd have a 450D over it.
  8. I also agree - BUT - as has already been said, once they have laid the driveway on Rosie's property, it will be much more difficult (and expensive) to do something about it after the event.
  9. Yep - get some posts in pronto - then on Monday nail some cheapo fencing to it to define where YOU think the boundary should be. Tell them that if they interfere with your property you'll have them in court in a heartbeat. Put a proper fence up later.
  10. Believe me, with the £/$ rate at its current level, and by the time you add freight, marine insurance, car tax, VAT, SVA coversion etc etc, it'll cost you every penny of what you can get one for over here but with all the added hassle of importing. Came within a gnats of importing a C6 in July last year. Would have bought it for the equivalent of £20k, but by the time I'd have got it here and then on the road, it would've been about £30k. That was at an exchange rate of $1.93 to the £. Today, a $40k car will cost you (give or take) £40,900 to put on the road over here. If you're looking at a C5, today, a $20,000 car will cost about £22,150 on the road. I'd buy in the UK cheaper than that! Fortunately I found a UK spec car here for a very good price.
  11. I got a Kenwood Smoothie2Go for about £25 in Comet. Makes the smoothie in the mug that you drink it from, so no daft tap to clog up. I primarily bought it for when my mum comes to visit as she has a condition that makes it difficult to drink thin fluids and everything needs thickening. Smoothies are ideal for her and it's easier to have one here. But when we've been down the gym, a smoothie is great when you come back home! I buy part of the ingredients frozen. You can buy frozen fruit in Tesco quite cheap and it's good for quite a few smoothies. I mix it with some fresh fruit and add pineapple & coconut juice.
  12. Really? You must be really well connected to have a mate who can get you up there to take a pic like that!
  13. Some Christians may take a dump once a day. How many bases would you like to cover there, Carl? Do these ramblings appky only to Christians? Or are other parts of society also allowed to "not think about Islam at all"? Why should the Christians have all the fun?
  14. I managed to get insurance on my C6 Corvette this year for £220!! And that's not on a limited mileage policy - I can drive it as much as I want. In fact this year, we've got the Corvette, my Saab 9-3 and Angies Jaguar X-Type sport all insured for under £550. That includes full foreign use, commuting and business use and legal cover. Oh - and protected No-Claims Bonus too. Bonkers!
  15. Me too, BUT.... I'd also advocate that we: --make sure the asylum seeker's circumstances are actually worthy of them being granted asylum and that they're not just another economic migrant. --keep track of the asylum seeker while their case is being considered. Currently the guidelines to Police are that if they come across a 'new arrival', for example one who has just decamped from the back of a truck, that they not arrest the individual, rather they advise them to go along to the nearest immigration centre and register as soon as possible. --in pursuance of the above action, that new arrivals be held in centres where those who are not entitled to asylum can be weeded out and returned from whence they came, and those who would be genuinely at risk if they were to go back home can be welcomed into the country accordingly. This novel idea could be called 'Border Control'. I *think* we have borders, but I'm fairly sure we don't control them very well.
  16. Ariel Photography. Hmmmm..... Or perhaps you meant 'aerial'?
  17. Us too! "The poor bloke was grabbed by the cubicles!" Drink was almost snorted up my nose! Had to rewind it to see if I'd heard him right - he seemed to have a little bit of a smirk going on as he finished the article. Can't think why.
  18. Had 3 Corvettes, 2 Mustangs, a Camaro and one or two others I think over the years that I can't think of rright now. (Sorry, just had a bottle of wine!) TBH, if you drive it for a weekend, you'll never look back. Easy - I even prefer it to RHD on a narrow road now with oncoming traffic as I know how close to the kerb I really am. Wouldn't want to change my C6 for anything now, really. It's got luggage space, it's got looks (IMHO, although I realise it isn't everyones taste as it's American) ad it's got decent performance at a very reasonable cost. If you want one, then go for it. Get on the CCCUK website for any advice you might think you want. As for the comments about McDonalds - come on! I drive a Corvette - I don't eat at McDonalds FFS! ( ) I manage in car parks etc. What else can I say? It's worth it! Maybe for the first few times you go to find reverse to get into your own driveway. After that I found I learned where the gear stick was.
  19. My wife (Angie) has the X-Type Sport diesel Estate as her work car. She changed her Audi A6 for it and TBH it's by far the better drive. It does have the same chassis as the Mondeo (but then so does the Land Rover Freelander and you couldn't really say they are similar!) and uses the Ford 2.0 TDCi lump. TBH I think platform sharing between manufacturers is a great idea. (Even if they are owned by the same company) By having them all contribute to the development costs, they've come up with a pretty good chassis. The running gear I understand is NOT Mondeo, but is particular to the Jag - in this case the Sport has the setup that bit stiffer and it handles very well - even for an estate! I read somewhere that the X-Type uses only 17% Mondeo parts. We tried Audi (A4 Avant & A6), Mercedes C-Class, Volvo V50 and a Honda Accord, but the Jag was really good TBH. The general feel is that it's of good enough quality and will last. It's been reliable in the 1 year she's owned it and servicing costs are ok too. The only cars that we considered viable alternatives for the job were BMW (but too pricey and RWD is an issue as she works out in the sticks a lot) and the Saab 9-3. (residuals are worse for the Saab - but I now have one for work as it was sooo cheap 2nd hand!) As long as you don't choose a gold one, you'll see more young people in X-Types than you will in a C-Class Merc. So basically it does what it says on the tin - it's got reasonable running costs (waaaayyy cheaper than the Supe - but not as exciting) and it feels like it's that bit classier inside than your run of the mill Audi's etc. I do appreciate though, that the X-Type will never have the same image re. build quality as Audi - but believe me, Audi aren't as good as the once were!
  20. In the US, young drivers and drivers who have had more than their fair share of accidents can agree to have these cameras installed by their insurance companies in return for a reduced premium.
