  1. And while I'm here, what's all this about the TT auto being a full second behind the manual to 60? Perhaps you're a 'manual snob' who likes to 'bully' auto drivers? My auto TT aerotop did a 12.8 sec 1/4 mile a few years back with nothing more than a cat-back exhaust and a FCD. Stock N/A's usually run around 14's. (Here we go - I've just kicked off another classic - auto/manual....NA/TT....DOH!!)
  2. It's going great, thanks. And No, I wouldn't replace it with another Supra, but I would put the right Supra alongside it in the driveway, should it come up for sale again one day and I've got the cash spare.
  3. Nice 1st post! I'm taking it that you drive an N/A then? And who mentioned the N/A's being 'girlie' cars? You were the first person to use the word in this thread. Welcome aboard anyway!
  4. Yep - I was amazed when I got a note from DVLA about this recently. They're actually allowing us to do something that in the past we'd have been fined for. Wonders will never cease! I think the only other detail is that you had to have ordered it before your old one ran out. Oh - and I believe the rules state 5 working days. So if the old tax disc runs out on Sunday, you can only drive it until midnight Friday without the new disc. Perhaps Doug could confirm that?
  5. Yeah - I've waited for the last 7 weeks to see that. Just checked on iPlayer. At the start of episode 1 of this series, they showed a series of video clips of 'what you can expect in the next 7 weeks'. At 1min 18secs, there's definitely a clip of the R8 and a ZR1 on a track. What happened to that?
  6. I remember that one from a few years back - it's a Northern Ireland anti-drink drive campaign. For me, this one, also from N. Ireland was harder hitting as it all happens so suddenly.
  7. Were you deliberately trying to be offensive with the 'Pig' comment, or did you mean to type 'Class One'? *edit* Doh! Beaten to it. Move along....nothing to see here....
  8. LS2 engine and box? I bought the same combination last year - but it had a Corvette wrapped around it. I can't afford a new washing machine either!

I'm actually from N. Ireland, but spent some of my childhood in Minnesota, so whichever way, you're going to offend me. What's the chances of that?!!! RACISTS!!! (There's a racetrack in Brainerd btw )
  10. I think you'll find that I posted this thread over 4 1/2 hours earlier than the one you pointed out.
  11. From another forum: I live on a new housing estate and the other morning was having breakfast when this happened to my neighbour opposite.Thank god the kids were not in the back at the time, they reckon the ground gave way under the machine due to all the heavy rain we had. The sad part is it landed on the Focus ST and not his £80 Peugot behind, sods law eh. Looks like the thing was left at full extension without the stabilisers down. If you were trying to make this happen, you'd do everything this idiot has done!
  12. I thought it was in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Virginia. There's a Space Shuttle just visible in the background of one of those pics. Is your pic from Evergreen? http://k43.pbase.com/o6/93/329493/1/73943952.JK7XdC0V.IADOct06043.jpg
  13. Have a good one you old (if somewhat younger than me) git!
  14. I didn't realise they had a covering. However, I think you'll see it says 'Limestone Casting' i.e. The limestone (pieces of) was mixed with other stuff to make the smooth covering which was an early form of concrete. We still use limestone in modern day concrete. So the pyramids were really an early concrete jungle. A bit like the original design of Milton Keynes, really.
  15. Not sure what you mean by 'pyramid covering'. The rocks that made up the pyramids themselves were made from agglomerated limestone. Basically they are cast concrete. (Believe it or not!)
  16. Eh?????? You collide your hardon with whatever you like, just don't involve me!
  17. THIS LINK is one of NASA's own sites. Click on England/Scotland etc or wherever you are and then click on the name of your town/city. This will give you the list of times when the ISS passes over, the max. elevation from your viewpoint and the duration of the pass. Contrary to an earlier post, you won't always see it in Newcastle when it's visible in London. At 270 odd miles altitude, there'll be a fair difference in the angle of elevation of the station in the sky. For example, last night in Norwich, it was visible for 3 minutes, reaching an elevation of 12 deg., but in Newcastle, it didn't make it above the horizon. You need a good 40deg or more in London before it'll be visible for more than a minute that far north.
  18. 32Gb? How many pictures are you planning on never transferring to your PC? 10.1 Megapx means the files are going to be what?....5 to 6Mb each? Even when I go to Le Mans and shoot off about 1600 photos over a weekend, I never need any more than maybe a couple of 4Gb cards. And of course, they get transferred to my PC pretty quickly and the card cleared before I need the storage again. The other thing is to avoid getting one huge card. Go for at least 2 smaller ones instead. That way, if you lose the data because of any sort of fault, you'll only lose some of your pics. Put them all on one card and you'll potentially lose the lot. As for speeds, Sandisk Extreme III are pretty good - never given me any problems and always been fast enough. Come to think of it, their Ultra II's are good enough for most too.
  19. Someone has to do it - Gordon doesn't seem to bother much these days!
  20. A friend of mine once was given a Toyota F1 brake disc to mount in a frame for a very important customer. (He runs a framing business) It was new and unused (Carbon fibre layers type thing) and signed by Ralph Schumacher. So he puts in his briefcase in the boot of the car. Anyway, later that day he needed something out of his briefcase, so opened it, retrieved what he wanted and closed the boot. Gets home that night after dark, opens boot graps briefcase by handle and swings it out of the boot.......only to find that it was still open! Valuable carbon fibre item comes out of his briefcase like a frisbee flies off into the darkness and lands at the far end of his driveway after bouncing off a wall. Luckily for him, all the damage was on the back of the disc, and as he was framing it anyway, it wasn't going to be discovered for a very long time. (if ever!) Lucky chap.
  21. I'll still stick with what I've got, but that really does look quite nice! Should be a bit more serious than the last one he had then - hope he has fun with it.
