    PS3 repairs

Sounds expensive when you can get a new one (with a full warranty) for £199 in Sainsburys at the moment!
  3. For my 40th I went to New York with the Mrs. Digsy and his other half came along too. (How cool are they?!!) Anyway, as my birthday is at New Year, it was a particularly nice time to be in NY. Loads of holiday stuff going on. Brilliant time that I will certainly never forget.
  4. I particularly like the line 'a large number of people have been infected by an epidemic'. Ermm....if a large number hadn't been infected by it, it wouldn't be an epidemic, would it? The statement isn't even grammatically right - did Gordon Brown write it, by any chance?
  5. Motor Neuron disease is what my Mum died from earlier this year. She suffered dreadfully in her last month or two because of other complications. In a way I'm glad she only lived for six months after diagnosis as it would have been even more horrendous for her to have gone through that sort of suffering for what could have been years. We have great memories of her.
  6. I don't know of anywhere in the UK that'll do it, but I know someone who had a C5 with an Australian conversion. Apparently just the parts cost about £8k! Just thinking about all the loom extenders behind that makes me think it'd be an electronics nightmare just waiting to happen. Pluse they have to fit a RHD steering rack and relocate the battery & fusebox in the engine bay as well as the brake master cylinder.
  7. Sacrilege!! Strangely, if you do the whole RHD thing to a 'vette, it's a pain to find a company that'll insure it in the UK. LHD for me. I did more miles in mainland Europe than in the UK this year anyway. Plus, if I really had to sell, I've got a bigger market selling to Europe than the UK. If it was RHD, they wouldn't want it over there.
  8. I'm really sorry to hear this, mate. I lost my Mum earlier this year and know what you're going through. It's a terrible time and I've been going through a whole range of emotions, but as Homer says, given time, the pain becomes less. This Christmas I think we'll celebrate all the happy times we had as a family when she was here, rather than concentrate on the fact that she's now gone.
  9. That C6 is stupidly cheap! If you contact the seller, just check it hasn't been repaired after something nasty. Get the VIN and have it carfaxed in the states. (Similar to an HPI) Both my cars (C5 convertible and C6 coupe) have been UK or Euro spec cars, so had the Z51 pack on both. The C5 was a nice drive, and I knew that the C6 would be an improvement, but I didn't appreciate just how much better it would be until I got one. The C6 is just so much more planted and handles B-roads beautifully. Fast changes of direction are just so much fun as you hardly have to think about slowing down. Changing line mid corner for potholes etc and getting back on line just doesn't upset it at all. Economy-wise it's good too. I didn't buy the 'vette for economy, but it's a nice bonus that it can do over 30mpg at around 80 to 85mph on the motorway. I recently did 3000 miles around Europe, up and down mountains etc, generally not hanging about and averaged over 27mpg. Servicing costs me about £120 a throw at a local specialist. The first major service isn't until 100,000 miles. In all, very civilised around town, fun from 0-60 and an absolute blast on the B-roads. And it doesn't cost a bomb to run. Also, with Euro exchange rates the way they are at the moment, you can sell a decent UK car for a lot of money to European buyers, so expect to pay more for an official UK import. It's actually getting difficult to find UK cars at a good price at the moment.
  10. or 'erbs instead of Herbs Then they slow UP where we slow DOWN They fill OUT a form - we fill it IN
  11. BMW's are common as muck. How about something a little more unusual? Cheap as chips for parts/servicing and uses considerably less fuel than people think. The only thing is how many kids are going on the school run? If it's more than one, then don't bother. LINK
  12. Did you actually read the instructions in the links I gave you? They ALL mention the channel number drop down list. The number that you see in this drop down list (before you change it) indicates the channel you're currently using. Nobody here can tell you which channel will be the best for you because it depends what channels your neighbours are using. (One or more of which could be causing interference) The best way to find the best channel is to start at channel one and see how it goes. If that doesn't work, then increment the channel number. Repeat until you get the best performance. Remember to click 'APPLY' each time you change the channel number. This saves your new settings and will also reboot the router - so wait for a minute before trying to connect following a channel change. Good luck.
  13. In fact, visit HERE. Talktalk give instructions on how to change the wireless channel on a number of there routers - scroll down to the section 'Step 5: Change the wireless channel'.
  14. I'm sure you'll be able to choose which channel your wifi will use. Which router do you have? (See HERE for choice of routers)
  15. What does that make a Lotus then? They're owned by Proton aren't they?
  16. That might be because they've all changed there channels so that they are nicely spaced out and don't interfere with each other? You should be able to get to your routers options through your browser - google the exact model etc for instructions, but it'll be a case of typing something like 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your web browser and having a dig around in the wireless settings. You'll find a dropdown box with the channel number in it - just select another number until you find the best one for you.

    shares?

This sounds like a govt approved employee 'sharesave' scheme. IF it is, then you're capital is protected anyway, so if the share price falls so that it's lower at the end of your term (5 years or whatever) then you can opt to simply have your cash returned to you so you lose nothing. If the price is higher at the end of the term, then you can excercise your option to buy the shares at the price agreed on day one, so you'd be quids in. Re. it really being worth doing, well that depends on the company. I'd need more info on that to make any sort of judgement on whether I'd buy shares in it. (name of the company so I can find out the market cap., sector etc) Nobody will be able to tell you if the company's shares are a good bet without telling them what company it is so they can do a bit of research first. I'd hope their profits would be in the millions - I try not to buy into many companies with a market cap of less than about 30million. (unless there is particular news on the way. )

    scum

I'd be tempted to find the scumbag who did it and 'puncher' them in the head. On the plus side - at £70 a pop, those are some cheap tyres you're running. Now you have an excuse to get some proper ones!
  19. Notepad ftw! (That's what I use anyway)
  20. We drove down to Venice a couple of weeks back. It was about 80 degC when we were there. Only the occasional mild smell like drains, really. However, there is a fair amount of rubbish in the water and I can't imagine the water taxi's & Gondolas being overly patient with a Kayak. IMHO it was a nice place to visit for a day, but I wouldn't want to stay IN Venice or to go there for a week. BEWARE - don't stop for a drink in St Marks Square - especially the places with the string quartets playing - coffee is about 7 euros a cup and there is a surcharge of 6 Euros PER PERSON for the music being played! 4 of us sat down for coffee, but Angie spotted the surcharge in the small print on the menu and we quickly left and went elsewhere - 52 Euros for 4 coffees sounded a bit steep to us!
  21. Currently about a couple of days. (But I'm still a bit new-fangled with it all!) If I have GPS/WiFi etc all turned on and do a load of surfing, then it won't get into day 2. That's ok for me though as I charge it via USB and have a USB car-charger.
