  1. I was on Dream Alliance and Don't Push It - both at £2 E/W. Paid for tonights carry-out from the local Indian, so I'm happy.
  2. I have bought mine direct from the circuit. Visit http://www.lemans.org and click on the Billeterie link. The tickets don't tend to be sent out until fairly late, so don't worry if you don't get them until a week or so before the race - or you can pay for them and pick them up when you get there if you prefer. The last few years I've been in the Corvette compound, so we get our tickets through our organisers now.
  3. Me too - but I just can't bring myself to take them all out of my car.
  4. Surely if the FIA have said "Any system, device or procedure, the purpose and/or the effect of which is to change the set up of the suspension" is illegal, then keeping the ride height constant, independent of load is changing the set up of the suspension? If load increases/decreases but the ride height remains constant, then surely this is achieved by increasing/decreasing the spring rate? (Or equivalent of) I'd have thought this would be considered as a change to the suspension set up.
  5. Not annoyed here. I'm a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.....even if that opinion is wrong.
  6. Sorry - don't care. I don't care how fast it is/was, how many fat ar$es it can carry together with their golf-clubs & cigars (or how comfortably), or how 'majestic' it may have been. It's a Ferrari - it's supposed to be at least a little in your face. I remember looking at one of these that was up for sale for over £30K a few years back. The price was inflated because one certain M. Schumacher was the previous owner. I could hardly contain my indifference. Totally underwhelmed by it, TBH. If I wanted to buy a car of this ilk, I'd buy an Aston or a Bentley. At least then it wouldn't be the 'old-blokes' model in a range of younger looking, in your face supercars. (I know I'm being a bit harsh here, but I really dislike the 456 - in case you hadn't picked up on that already)
  7. Ferrari 456?? Looks good??? *shudder* Hideous, just hideous! Look like they should only be driven by lard-ar$e, cigar-smoking, middle-aged businessmen.
  8. WTF? "sit around waiting for something to happen"?? So what happened to pro-active policing?
  9. Adrian Flux do (or did) a laid up car policy. The last time I used one was about 4 years ago and cost me about £150ish for the Supe. It's for 12 months and you can't cash it back in at any point - you pay for 12 months and that's it - even if you only need it for 3 months. Worth having though in case the worst might happen.
  10. Went to school (and the local swimming club) with Eddie Irvine. If he hadn't been a racing driver, he'd probably have ended up as an olympic swimmer - he was always setting records in the pool for his age-group back then. A few years back we went to a skid-pan day with a mate who turned up with a new girl. She wanted a run up the road in the Supe to see how fast it was, so I obliged. Found out later she's Peter Ebdon's (the snooker player) sister. Used to go jet skiing with some friends back in about 1995. One chap who's still local had a son Luke, whose band, 'Addict' got signed by some label belonging to Virgin. They didn't make it, but he later became a very popular session drummer working with Joe Strummer and the likes. He's now married to KT Tunstall and works as her drummer.

    Fuseeee !!!

That one's bolted in - it has a big blade that goes down into the lower part of the fuse tray and there's a bolt that holds it in place. Don't have access to a part number as I'm at work, but I do know it's an expensive one.
  12. They didn't say it was the biggest claim ever. They said it was the "biggest insurance pay-out we (Aviva) have had for repairs to a private car in the UK."
  13. Or those muppets who stay up all night and then fall asleep at the wheel of their 4x4 whilst towing a car half way across the country, then leave the carriageway and end up on a railway line causing a train to derail and then hit another train killing 10 people and resulting in claims against them & their insurers of over £30 Million!
  14. Don't knock it unless you've tried it. Norton has ALWAYS been the first thing for me to UNinstall when I've bought a PC with it on. However..... I recently mocked someone when they suggested I get 360 for my new machine. Then I started looking into it and it's not like anything Norton has put out before. I ran it on Vista from last June to October when I upgraded to Windows 7. I kept with it on Windows 7 and it has continued to be absolutely no trouble whatsoever. The only thing I'd recommend not bothering with is it's online back-up facility as once you've filled it they want you to pay cash to increase the size of your online storage. Other than that, it does scans when the machine is idle and pauses them when I start using the machine again, it picks up anything dodgy and lets you know about them in a report. It keeps things pretty tidy and quietly gets on with things while I get on with whatever I want to do. All in all, I find myself recommending something from a company whose products I always looked upon as bloatware and cr@p - until now. 360 isn't the old Norton. I've dumped AVG and installed N360 on my Vista Laptop now too. AVG destroyed my system on a recent 'update' and I'm not going back.
  15. How long ago did you join? Was it long enough ago for you to have done your Airframes/Propulsion training at Halton?
  16. I had to check the date on the first post of this thread to make sure it wasn't a revived thread from about 2001!
  17. Police out trying to catch real criminals? Maybe it's a good thing they're trying to do so if there have been overnight thefts in the area. Or perhaps they should go back to measuring the gaps between the letters on our number plates or checking we've all got cats on our exhausts? I'm only too happy to know that the police are actually taking steps to catch thieving pikey scum when they make their camp in an area close to me or where I work. At least it shows they are trying to do something about crime. Even if I do get stopped on more than one occasion.
  18. The road looks wet, the wipers are on in the vehicle with the person filming it, so there may not be loads of smoke coming off the tyres. This one is off the VW forum that was linked to earlier, so you've probably seen it, but there wasn't exactly clouds of smoke coming off the merc in it, and this one is in the dry. 19. Why didn't this happen when I was a kid? Click
  20. It'd be suitable for doing your ironing on.....
  21. The only thing I have against the HD2 is that it's Windows Mobile based and apparently the way the HTC user interface utilises some of the windows features is less than ideal. (And I have no experience of Win Mobile stuff) Great screen though - it's huge!
  22. I bought the Hero about 6 months ago and have been really pleased with it - which considering how tight I am and that I went from a £10/month rolling contract to £35/month with the hero is quite a feat in itself! I haven't regretted it for a minute. My only complaint (if I could call it that) is that when I've been running some apps and go to my homescreen whilst the apps are still running, the 'sqiping' form screen to screen gets a bit clunky for a second or two. I think the next generation of HTC Androids will have a faster processor. Oh - and I haven't yet done the firmware upgrade. Other than that, it's a brilliant phone.
