  1. While you're bleeding the brakes, do these things also. This should find the problem. Take the discs off and clean behind them. That's both surfaces (The hub face AND the back of the disc) where the inside of the disc meets the hub. This will ensure that the disc can run true. When you've done bleeding the brakes and get to the point where you've refitted the wheel and are ready to drop the car off the jack, give the wheel a spin. While it is spinning, get someone to apply the brake pedal to stop the wheel. Then try to spin the wheel again. It should spin freely. You will hear the pads just touching the disc, but this is not a problem as long as the wheel spins with virtually no resistance from the brakes. Hope you sort it mate.
  2. Yes, this could happen and you would not be able to see the mis-shaped disc without removign it and placing it on a very flat surface. (An old sheet of glass is good for this.) Then look for gaps between the disc and the glass.(Or whatever flat surface you have chosen) However, if a brake was binding on, you would probably have noticed that when you put the wheel back on, it was difficult to turn. Did you notice any resistance when refitting the wheels?
  3. Paul, I know you had a go at me before hwen I suggested you get someone who knows what they're doing to do this, but seriously, you are asking very basic questions here and you obviously haven't done this before. I'm not trying to put you down, you obviously want to learn about your car and that can only be a good thing. But get a mate or someone who has done this before to show you/give you a hand. Have you got an old Haynes manual lying around for one of your previous cars? That will tell you how to bleed your brakes and willl have some pictures to boot! It's pretty much the same process from one car to the next. But you must do it right. We can all tell you to a point how this is done, but if you are determined to do this job (and you obviously are) then get hold of an old Haynes manual. It's not too difficult to do but if you get it wrong it could be disastrous. Just don't want to hear about another damaged Supe.
  4. OK, so you've removed the brake flexi hoses form the calipers. They will have to be bled. Wasn't sure when you said you had removed the calipers if you just meant that you had removed them form the hub assembly to get the new pads in, but left the brake lines connected. Any time you open up the fluid system, (i.e. by undoing on of the unions on a brake line) you introduce air. This has to be bled out. However, this alone does not cause the wobbling you describe. THis has to be either something out of balance or something not running straight, such as a disc with dirt under it as Chris suggested.
  5. Can you tell us if they judder ONLY when braking or does this happen all the time at speed? If a wheel is out of balance they will judder all the time (at speed). If this only happens under braking, then the problem is with the brakes. HTH
  6. Who's up for a meet at the Railway Tavern, Poringland on Monday at about noon? (Just south of Norwich on the Bungay Road.) Add your names below. Brian. Angie.
  7. Angie and myself will be there again! We're camping in Beausejour with some friends who we met up with there last year. The mini meet (sounds like something Dr Evil would say.....I'll call it Mini Meet!') sounds like a good idea to me. Friday morning you say? How about some of us exchange mobile numbers to text where we are? Are you talking about the Indianapolis part of the circuit? ish? 2 WEEKS TO GO!!!!!! :D We're taking Angies car, Black TT, Stillen front, TRD skirts. My latest addition won't be ready.
  8. OK Paul, calm down! If your dad knows what he's doing, then fine, maybe you should ask him. I was merely commenting on the part of your post where you said fliud was escaping from the bleed nipple. When he saw that, your dad obviously told you not to take it on the road under any circumstances until he's sorted it, right?
  9. OMG!! Just don't bring your car ANYWHERE near where I'll be driving please! Where brakes are concerned, if your knowledge is as slim as this post would suggest, then get someone to look at them who knows what they're doing! Where brakes are concerned, you must do the job right. If you don't know what you're doing, then find someone who does. You rarely get a second chance if you suddenly lose your brakes completely.
  10. July is good for Angie and me too! Might possibly be in more than one car then too!!
  11. Paul, It doesn't matter if you take them off and put either a new set on or the old ones, you will have to set up the cams just right when reinstalling the cam belt.
  12. Nice to meet some new faces today. Good turnout for a local meet. I'd be up for a monthly thing too. Might be able to get one or two new Supes to come along too. See you all next time. Angie and Brian.
  13. Angie and myself should be there providing my suspension isn't too squeaky when I take the car out tonight. What time you leaving Ian's, Darren?
  14. Not sure re. the airbag one, but I know that the non-airbag wheel centre is secured by a screw which is got at via a hole on the rear of the downward pointing leg of the wheel. (As viewed when the wheel is centred...if that makes any sense to you at all!)
  15. So why exactly did you go Veilside then Paul? They don't come much more 'riced' than that! Jap wannabe!!
  16. That Stillen picture must be the worst pic of it that I've ever seen! As I've just bought one of these, I thought I'd better show you what it CAN look like! Stillen Stillen2
  17. From this: http://www.mkiv.com/manual/1995_electrical_manual/I/95elec_126.JPG it looks like it's all done in the motor assembly. Potentiometer in the wiper switch controls the delay time, but can't see any relays external to the motor assembly. HTH
  18. Don't go abbreviating that, will you? :innocent:
  19. Like Darren says, investigate the problem first and try to find out which component is causing the problem. Then, if it is the motor, give me a shout as I have one for sale if you want it!!
  20. Had a great time today until it chucked it down! Posted most of my comments in the TSC thread in chit chat.
  21. Thanks Gordon. I still have the engine and any ancilliaries that might be needed. Let me know if I can help. Good Luck anyway!
  22. Just one other thing to think about removing first...... Steering lock???
