  1. He's an odd chap, but today he's finally decided to review the Supra.

    scam ?

My first thought is "If my computer let you know in some way that it's being hacked, how on earth did it give you my phone number?" In my case, the two have never been linked via any sort of registration etc.
  3. Shouldn't the title be "The Pope in Northern Ireland"?
  4. Saw a video on Youtube yesterday about GTSport having new tracks and 10 new cars - including a Toyota Supra RZ, 1997. Time to try it again then?
  5. This. TBH, I thought it was very nicely shot - some great images in there and some decent humour, but not a lot of substance. I have to admit I chuckled at the first 'celebrity' hitting the ground, but after that, they told the same joke twice more by 'kiling' another couple of celebs. The 'track' they put the BMW M2 on apparently consisted of trying to annoy an old lady and getting the back end out on a tight corner. Fascinating. And I still don't know anything more about the 3 'Trinity' cars than I did at the start. And why bother going to another country if you aren't going to explore motoring culture in any way whatsoever? I think they really missed a trick there. It would have been good to know what the Americans attitude is to other country's manufacturers, motorsports etc, in the same way that I'd be interested next week to know what motoring is all about in South Africa. Yes it was reasonably entertaining, but I also think it was about 15 mins too long and basically more ego tripping for the presenters. As for being a pilot, they've had how many months to put this together? It really should be up to standard from episode one. I'll likely still watch all 12 episodes though.
  6. Go on - just borrow it! It's only money, what's the worst that can happen?
  7. Right Stan - I'm suing you for breach of contract - I only sold the GZ Aerotop to you in 2008 on the condition that if you ever came to sell it, you'd give me first refusal! Nice Z mate - enjoy!
  8. NOW SOLD Posting on behalf of a friend. Chevrolet Corvette C6 6.2 litre V8 Auto 6-speed with paddle shift. Victory Red with black interior 430bhp stock engine, 60,000 miles, Head-up display, keyless entry, electric seats, sports exhaust, dual climate control, CD/mp3/radio etc. Current owner last 6 years. (since import) Serviced every 5,000 miles with Mobil 1 and new filters. Cheap road tax too! (Think it's about £235 as it has to go on 'PLG' rate) Regularly returns mid 20's per gallon, but will hit 60mph in a little over 4 secs and go on to 186mph. I've known this car since it was imported from the states 6 years ago. It's in absolutely immaculate condition, this car has been treated like a baby from day one. Apart from the back boxes, it's bone stock but is a comfy, reliable and rapid car. Owner is asking for £23,750 or near offer. PM me for any more details you might want and I'll put you in touch with him.
  9. Happy Birthday tall guy! Party time!!
  10. Just heard about this. A legend in his own lifetime. I even named my cat after him. I remember seeing him interviewed a handful of years back and the thing I remember him saying was that although he was in his 80's, he still woke up at night with ideas of new things to do - he was still genuinely excited about life and had lots more things he wanted to do before leaving this world. RIP - a hero lost.
  11. It's tuned port (multiport) injection though - direct injection is a much more recent thing and hasn't yet been included on a production Corvette.
  12. With foot to the floor pulling away in 1st, mine will do that too, but overall in the last year I've managed to average over 25mpg for more than 8,000 miles. The bulk of that is just local driving in Norfolk with a couple of long runs on holiday to France etc, so a good mix of driving. If I really worked at it I could get cr@p fuel consumption! With services coming in at just over £100 a time (no major service until 100,000 miles - could that be because they're confident it's reliable??) and insurance under £340 (not a specialist policy or limited mileage) I really can't complain. As for the looks, I said earlier I don't expect it to be to everyone's taste, but I like it - and that's what matters with all of our cars.
  13. I could pretty much do that with my Supra too though. It means absolutely nothing - the plastic cover is only there to give the car it's shape. And the GT1, 7-litre engine in the C6R is actually not that far removed from the Z06 engine, TBH. As I've owned 3 different generations of Corvette down the years and never had one mechanical problem with any of them, I'd say I'm just a little more qualified to pass judgement on the car then someone who has absolutely no first hand experience of it or any other American car for that matter. Take my word for it, look after them and keep them in good oil and well serviced and they'll go around the clock again and again.
  14. Ermmm.....what's the ar$e of a Supra made of? (The Corvette rear end - not JUST th eZ06 but the whole range - also has a girder behind the plastic - just like the Supe, just like most cars on the road nowadays!) One of the first cars I remember them making a point of mentioning with a deformable plastic rear end was the Porsche 928 - nobody complained about that. Really, kiddo - you watch wwaaaayyyyy too much Clarkson! Anyway - how can you say it's NOT reliable? 24hrs straight racing at Le Mans - you've seen the result. The smallblock GM engine was introduced in late '54, there's been more of these built than any other engine in history. If it wasn't good, it wouldn't have been the success it still is today.
  15. Oh - that's alright then - you've obviously done you research!
  16. That may be your opinion, but the facts can't be argued with. Corvette - remember that 'American car'? Here's the 'Epic Fail' record for this car at Le Mans since 2000: Year Class Place 2000: GTS 3rd & 4th 2001 GTS 1st & 2nd 2002 GTS 1st & 2nd 2003 GTS 2nd & 3rd 2004 GTS 1st & 2nd 2005 GT1 1st & 2nd 2006 GT1 1st & 7th 2007 GT1 2nd & DNF 2008 GT1 2nd & 3rd 2009 GT1 1st & DNF 2010 GT2 2x DNF 2011 GT2 1st & DNF I'd say 7 wins at the 24 hrs of Le Mans, on the podium 17 times out of a possible 24 and taking 1st AND 2nd in the same year on 4 occasions is a pretty decent record for a car that you class as an 'Epic Fail'. I won't lower myself to tell you where you can put your opinion - the above tells it as it is. No other car in it's class has come close to this kind of performance this century. I realise that American cars aren't to everyone's taste, I'm not that blinkered by the fact I drive one, but for performance and reliability, some American cars are hard to beat.
  17. What company is hiring ZR1's?
  18. Soop Dogg

    Smash

That's just horrendous. Sends shivers down my spine watching that - could happen to any one of us.
  19. I wonder what an insurer would say if you had an accident with those fitted?
  20. 'They did some pretty good scrab-cakes too.'
  21. I spent weeks going through the pros and cons of all the tabs before finally buying the Galaxy Tab 10.1 iPad2 was the first to be eliminated from the reckoning - it's just too damn restrictive to do anything useful with. I want file transfer with my other PC's around the house to be easy! Motorola Xoom was a possible. The expansion port to use a micro-sd card looked like a great idea to me. However, when I used one in the flesh next to some others, the screen was quite dull (on full brightness) and the colours weren't very accurate. (White pages appeared yellow-ish.) Also I found the Xoom to be fairly heavy. The Asus slider is a great little machine. The screen is one of the best for an Android device and it also has an expansion port. There's nice and fast with no delay in switching from landscape to protrait or when switching to fullscreen to watch a video. However, I had my doubts about the mechanism of the flip-out keyboard - it seemed a little flimsy and the keyboard is connected to the screen by a ribbon which may eventually over time break. Connecting to the keyboard in this way does save power over a bluetooth keyboard though. Also, because of the keyboard the unit is considerably heavier than I'd like. The Sony was a good machine too, but the screen was smaller and I want to use RDP to connect to my work PC's. I had set 10.1" as the minimum screen size. In the end I found the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to have a great screen - very bright and with great colour saturation, it was the lightest of the tabs I tried out and seemed to have the most accessories available. (Including an adapter pack available on Amazon to add an SD card or a USB stick) Also I think of the Galaxy as being one of, if not THE best alternative to the Apple. Some retailers are offering some great reductions on the others, but this suggests to me that they are doing this to try and shift the stock. The Samsung Galaxy Tab generally sits at or very close to it's retail price, possibly because people are doing their homework and coming to the conclusion that it's the best alternative and hence the units will sell regardless.
  22. Of course you can have two separate policies at the same time - just not on the same car!
  23. Absolutely agree. But tonight was like a leftover from one of the previous couple of series in comparison - found myself getting bored with all the non-comedy stuff.
  24. As you had to take into consideration the London congestion charge, I take it you must go in and out of London a fair bit. I can understand you needing a 4x4 though - those green lanes around Bishopgate are hell during the rush hour!
