Who is TS? And what are my cheaper options, something that fits over the current springs? Carl
-
I just see that envy do sets. I wonder if what coilovers I have (if any?!) I'm guess they are stock but who knows. My mechanic looked at them briefly and said it was stock suspension. wonder what the £2300 price tag includes and if envy carry out the work or just supply the kits.

Thanks Gaz walker.. know anywhere that does it in the uk? Carl

I know graham, but its the new toy, the new "baby". And I want to take care of her, but then fu*k her up on the speed bump on the final streach home. Nearly 200 miles, and then the last few yards.....that horrible noise. It's and investment, kinda like stocks and shares but i sit in it so i wanna take care of her. Steel plates.. now you talking my language... Excellent idea. Though where would I go for that? Anyone had it done? Sounds cheaper than a air suspension job. ~Carl.

I guess ill need some professional advice though too as to what the costs are and what time I should go for (if any). Carl heres the level of damage, how to harden this or to repair it so if there is another small hit it has minimal effect I dont know. Maybe removal of the veil or shock hight raising are the viable options.

thanks for that thread mate, will pm you when i have gleaned all the info out of them.

Mines pimped enough. I'm the pimp without hoe's and air shocks (or what ever they are called)
-
at this rate. Im looking at solutions to protect the veil bumper. I love the look. Even if it is retro now. In fact the whole car looks retro in a good way. Just wondering if anyone knows about air shocks that can raise the car pneumatically at the flick of a switch? Any one with info on this, or can point me in the right direction? Its that or seriously get honked at and shit. evenly slowly is a problem for some areas, and some roads too! In newbility Carl

Just driven the car back. It is mind blowing. Very fun to drive, and very stable. Only thing on the way back, I clipped a speed bump when turning into it at the start of my road, and that despite already going very slow. Going to see if there are any physical measures I can take to make this less of a problem - whether it means modding the front splitter or getting metal shoes underneath for the bump to scrape against if it wants. And in the mean time. Ill just have to avoid the bump, or find new angles to attack it. A downer on an otherwise excellent drive back. Carl

hahaha, it's true. My inexperience here thinks that that review is a positive thing - due to TOM's ecu appearing to make the car more powerful and responsive with proper boost control, and fuel mapping (perhaps?). Nic seems to be very postive about it, and I see he has posted a lot , so for me I trust him more. And the rest of the thread seems to culminate in a throng of people asking where they can get hold of one. Throng,, well maybe 1. But it seems positive to me, are you less postive about it, and why? Or if you don't want to reply, where can I find the flipside to all this apparent positivity? Carl

See homers post just above. Oh and my wonderings is due to my limited understanding - I dont get how it works - being very newbie. My musings are not to do with what I read, its just doubts I already had.
-
Thanks guys thats really helpful - good to read up that TOMS Ecu is a good bit of kit. Of course I wonder how a bit of electronics could physically make it safe to go to the end of the rev counter and stay there... surely is does not eliminate the mechanical problems associated with driving at max revs in first second or third, it just helps the car keep power and be short term very fast? Just guessing here. Anyway. Will pick up the car tomorrow and driving it down south. lol. I know it's not, but I feel like im bringing a national treasure to southern England. Lol.
-
Got you mate just read up on it. This car has TOMS Racing ECU, not sure if thats just a map or an actual new physical ECU, and hear that this will mean that it can hold max revs.. (is that right) not sure whether its 2x8 bit though or if thats makes a difference, or if only VVTI's are the only supras to have 2x16 bit ecu's? But yeah your right, I like the car. And since its got hybrids twins, and I have *felt* the power first bum, then maybe no one could convice me to buy something else. Carl
-
I'm no good at haggling bishop, and I thought it was worth 12k so............... and that was my top limit anyway. I thought a vvti was a gain in about 60 BHP? but nothing much else? Whats the truth? Yeah, and also, I'd much rather buy an already modded supe than go though the stress of having it modded up myself and have nothing to drive. thanks for the encouraging words mate. Will take care of the car and myself. Carl

I looked at Jurgen's cars but the prices were all in yen, and japanese text, could not be bothered to work out the actual prices. Anyway. This car is a lot of car. I dont think it's missing anything. apart from good taste some would say. But as far as power goes this is plenty. I know it's a cavalier attitude, and that I should spend time getting the most car for my money, but widearch veilside in black 6 speed manual with fat tyres just speaks to my soul. I don't think it will "go pop" though to be honest, if it does, it's only a car. And I don't expect anyone to endorse the cars reliabilty here since you all now know it's bijal heritage. But then, I don't appear to care if its endorsed or not lol.
-
Yea it is. I guess I only live once, and time is running out. That's my attitude. And what with this being a bijal car I might have less time than I think. Like your username by the way - for obvious reasons
-
Not sure maybe.. Remember Bijal? Well the wideboy supra that this thread is about was apparently tuned by him. I love the car, and am purchasing it for 12k. It will be my first supra mkiv. People from here have been warning me about bijal's work. They have mentioned faults in his workmanship, and even talked about cars blowing up that were allegedly tuned by him. I however still want the car, so am buying it. That's it I think. Carl
-
nah, was more after the looks, the low end response from twins is nice, bigger BHP less of an issue for me overall. Am satisfied with the level of this car's power. Carl
-
I was told, and heard. Thanks for the warning. But at the end of the day, I have made a decision where both my heart and my head are satisfied. Buying a second hand 1995 car off ebay for 12 grand was never going to be an easy decision for me. But I feel I have made the right choice and of course accept full responsibility for this. Thanks guys. Carl
-
No, Im not bijal. Just a newb that is buying a car tuned by bijal. And yeah your right I do have a reckless attitude as to whether the car will blow up (- I think it won't but hey, nothing like a big bang to brighten up your day), but having read the threads posted by class one, I feel that bijal's problems were not technical ones, more service delivery ones, and this is based on what I have read here, including his tradesperson renewal survey responses. I appreciate the warning about bijal, its always better to warn isn't it. I dont think your doing it for fun or money, and I know your just trying to help guys like me out. But I decided that I really want this car, and don't really believe that he is incompetent. But we will see. I have driven the car, and got jamesmark (very greatful to him for that) to check it out from here. The test, I guess will be over time, and just a little accelerator abuse from me. Carl
-
:)Yeah CJ, get it now, will prob head there today and not even got the car yet. Caveat Emptor. That clutch he sold you was "sold as seen" right Gord, to one of your friends on your behalf, which you then had installed to your car, and wasn't fit for purpose? Whatever, the case, I love it that "modding" cars seems slightly naughty, in that some (or most) manufacturers say that they only approve of genuine Toyota/nissan/ford approved parts. It's like (for me) that the manufacter is the mother, and you are the naughty child modding yourself. Like coloring your hair green to rebel, except this time its with your car. lol. Carl
-
hehe, thats too involved for me, fed up with looking at past bijal related threads. "See you in tech" I like that, guess i have been pigeonholed already And as for him allegedly blowing a couple of customers cars up, I'll try my best not to think about that when I drive my shiney new soop down from Doncaster on Thursday. Carl

Thanks for those pointers Class One, I had an interested hour or two reading though the stuff. This is my newbie-like interpretation of what I read: Seems Like bijal had problems with client communication, and in particular a dislike of him mainly by michel lane, whose complaints, amongst others, I felt he rebutted adeptly. Main problems seem to be more about business style rather than than the quality of his work. And although most people were for him renewing his membership, he did not meet the very strict level of customer satisifaction that your trader renewal on this site demands. I see that he has got support in his business now and is trying to improve customer satisfaction, which must be a good thing. I dont see him as inherently evil though, even though he was named and shamed for leaving anonymous complaints against other traders here. I guess no longer being part of this forum as a trader was a bitter experience, which I can understand. A forum needs to protect its members, and it looks like it was being perhaps slightly over-protective in Bijal's case. I doubt that his retributive behaviour towards other traders will ever give him a second chance here even though he might otherwise have deserved one in time. I hope he continues to do good work, as he clearly seems to have a passion and expertise for it, and that he will improve/ has improved in the areas of his business that needed improving. And of course, I hope he has done a good job on the car I am buying that he tuned - all the signals are that it will be a great car. Full of newbility and greatful to have been accepted into this forum, Carl.
-
Yeah, that slightly high look at the back is needed for when the car's rear hunkers down under great acceleration. I personally like the hight.

It's mine. Will be picking it up on thursday hopefully. The guy is sorting out the speedo which is a bit haywire, getting a chip which he will have installed on tues or wed. Its a real treat for me to be going beyond BPU for my very first soop. Carl
