The other day I was removing my Veilside rear wing, then had to pop out. I'd forgotten that all the spanners and stuff were still loose in the boot. I pulled over only a short way from home, popped the boot, left the engine running and went round the back to tidy up the tools. I shut the boot with my jacket caught in it. The keys were in the ignition, and there was no way I was gonna reach the boot release lever in the front. I stood and laughed out loud at what I'd done, then tore the front of my jacket off, trying to pull it out of the boot. I found the whole thing highly amusing and kept chuckling to myself for the rest of the day. Regards Terry.

Hi. I'm planning an oil change next week, and after reading this: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=56684 I think the 5w-50 Valvoline VR1 looks to be my best option. I have a 93 J-spec TT 6 speed, 94000 miles, and usually do short journeys. Will this oil be ok? The link I posted at the start of the thread says there's 6.5L oil capacity, which would mean buying 2 5L cans. Then I read this: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=253625&postcount=6 I think I'll just get 2 cans to be safe. Thanks for any info on the oil. Regards Terry.

Great that comfirms what I thought. So as far as I can find out I'm going to need a tool to lock the cams off, and some kind of puller. Is that correct, and is there anything else I'll need? A friend of mine who is a mechanic is going to do the work, with me helping/watching. So long as I get all the parts and tools we'll need. So far I have a timing belt, tensioner and idler kit. Water pump still to get and fluids etc. SUPRASUZUKI. Do you have the Cam locking tool/s? If so any chance of a rental? Many thanks for the info.

I have a J-spec 1993 RZ TwinTurbo and am doing a CAM belt change soon. I was going to pick up a water pump too, but I'm not sure what one. Can anyone post a pic of the water pump that will fit my model of Supra? I've seen a few that claim to fit my car, but they are all different. Here's a few pics of the ones I found, they can't all be right.

Little'un got new feet for Christmas. She was born with a list of things wrong with her as long as your arm, much longer actually. Having her feet rebuilt and held on with skewers, just came at a bad time, right on top of Christmas. I was just thinking how nice it would be if she were jumping on my bed at 5 in the morning. Not that I've been in it for a week. At least she's home with us now. Hope you've all had/are having a good'un, and have a happy new year.

I thought I may have knocked it off when I took the dash off, but seeing as the button still worked, I assumed it had been disconnected maybe to stop an annoying light or alarm or something. This is the first Supra I've owned, so I'm still finding my way around. I guess I'll hook the wire back up and see what happens. Another thought was that wire has grounded it's self against some metal, and is causing it to stay in the "off" mode.
-
Since I've had my Supra I've always had the slip control on. The first time I removed the dash I noticed that there was one wire off the back of the slip cont on/off button. When I replaced the dash I left the wire as it was, and all seemed well, the button still turned slip cont on/off. Today however, the button no longer works and the orange "slip cont off" light flashes constantly. Will re-attaching the removed wire fix this? It seems strange as it worked previously with the missing wire. Thanks for any ideas.

Great. I'll try a bit on the paint of the missus' car, in an inconspicuous area. It's a pile of turd anyway.

My malfunction light comes on/off from time to time, and I noticed that the brake fluid is low. On the reservoir cap it says to use DOT 3 fluid. I have some DOT 4 fluid that says it's suitable to use as DOT 3 or 4 replacement, and that it is safe to mix with other fluids as long as they are not silicone based. How the hell would I know if the stuff in there at present is silicone based? Don't tell me I'm gonna have to drain the brakes completely. What's the worst that could happen?

Fantastic. All I want to do is to remove the centres. Didn't think of letting the tyre down first Makes sense though I guess. If any of the 120 bolts get stripped/damaged, can I use Stainless bolts of equivalent size, or is there something special about them and I should get some proper spares before I start?

I just found this on another forum: http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67732&start=0&p=648442entry648442 A guy done his own split rims, it doesn't say if they are 2 or 3 piece, but it looks like he's not actually split the rims, just took the centres out. Is that possible with 3 pices rims, or would his have been 2 piece?
-
Has anyone here done any refurb work on their own split rims? I've attached a picture of mine. I'm not sure if they are 2 or 3 piece. I was hoping to be able to undo the bolts and remove the 5 spoke centre, take the old paint off and respray those bits. They are the tattiest bits of the wheels, and really let them down. The polished rims aren't too bad, some light curb damage, but nothing I cant live with. I know some people will say, "Take them to a specialist", but to be honest I can't do without the car for more than a weekend, and I don't have a spare set of wheels either. Anyone got any advice? Many thanks.

Thought so, but since you said "Sensors", I thought I'd check. Thanks.
-
How many 02 sensors are there on a TT?

I was looking at the unit from THOR, but they no longer sell them and aren't planning to get anymore. I got one of the ebay ones, but I don't think I'll be fitting it. It looks very poor. So what other units are people using that they are happy with?

I can fit me and the missus in, with a four year old in a car seat in the back. The buggy fits in the boot, pushed right up to the back of the back seats, and I can get a weeks shopping in as well, some in the spare back seat and the rest in the boot. Occasionally the missus has to cuddle some on the way home too. Any more than that and we have to use the 'other' car.

Cheers Jake. Can I be official club muppet? If I had engaged my brain a bit, I would have realized that it was the clutch fluid. Dooh.
-
Here's the two pics. These camera phones are great. It's pitch black outside, the car is on my driveway and the pics actually came out ok.
-
Yes it a manual. The weird thing is both caps say brake fluid, do they both use the same juice? Shall I get my coat yet? Thanks.
-
Malfunction idicator light. I think.

hehe.. It was about 10 inches to the right of the bigger one, Looking from the front of the engine bay. I'll see if I can get some pics in a minute. I'm sure they both said brake fluid on them. I feel I'm going to look really silly, when it turns out to be something else.
