  1. Thanks, so if painting the cylinder head or top sump section i would need an etch primer. Do people normally paint these two parts or just clean them?
  2. I've got a few patches of flaky rust so i'm thinking wire brush, "gunk" then paint? Does the hammerite smooth need primer? Also i've heard other people mention hot wash, acid dip? would these just do the same as "gunk"?
  3. Hi guys Currently have my engine out and stripped down. I've seen a few threads where the block has been painted. And was wondering what the best preparation for this is? Also are the heads and sumps prepped the same? Cheers
  4. hoping this will be the first time I've ever won something.
  5. sounds good I need some new pads for my UK spec
  6. I have one of those to fit, so will have to have a look. Cheers.
  7. Will do, any ideas what could have been fitted?
  8. Its out! Bit of a wiggle and it came out. Dont think it will be much fun getting it back in though. The wiring looks like it has been modified a bit though, not sure if something has been fitted at some point, i have taken a picture, any ideas?
  9. Shouldn't have asked the question, 5 secs later ive released ive been an idiot, pulled up the carpet and seen the ecu. Cheers for the help anyway guys.
  10. Hi guys Im removing my 2jz-gte out of my uk supra. Im at the stage of removing the wiring loom from inside the car, i have removed the glovebox, passenger airbag and a air duct, however i still cant see where the wiring loom enters the car. How much do i have to strip out of the interior? does the dash have to come out? Cheers
  11. Ive just emailed a mobile welder to give me a quote, what kind of price do you guys reckon it will be? just so i know if its a good price or not. The engine will be out by the time it gets done so they will have plenty of room to do it.
  12. Thanks for the info. will see how much a new one is first, then contact keron if its too much.
  13. Ahh found it, just came across this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?274186-Radiator-support And its part number is 57104-24021 if anyone else has this problem. Anyone know a ball park figure for someone to come out and weld this on?
  14. Ive just found this in the body repair manual and am 99% sure this is the part that i need. Does anyone know if you can buy these?
  15. Hi guys, Started to take the engine out to do a rebuild and i have found the radiator mounting plate has corroded where the intercooler pipe bracket bolts on. I think this is part of the chassis and is welded on? Has anyone else had this? Im guessing this part cant be purchased from Toyota. Would i need to get the piece cut out from a scrap supra and weld it on? I have taken two pics, one from under bonnet and one from under car. Thanks
  16. Cheers for the comments guys. Will take the engine out then. Was thinking of putting a large thick piece of wood down on the gravel to allow the hoist to move but not sure if that would work?
  17. Hi guys Ive found my supra has a cylinder with low compression, it goes back up with a little engine oil down the spark plug hole, so im assuming its the piston rings at fault. As the car is on a gravel driveway i think im going to find it a bit tricky to get it out with a crane. Has anyone removed pistons with the engine in place? By this i mean head and sump off. Thanks
  18. Can anyone tell me how much mess polishing items makes? would you be able to do it in a shed size building? or would i need more ventilation?
  19. Id also like to know a rough cost of this service if anybody knows?
