  1. Interesting, thanks. I need my bumpers doing but my worry would be that the rest of the car possibly isn't quite the original colour and without matching and blending it might not look right. Nice work on the deal though - good find
  2. Is that a special deal for you becuase you know them or is that sort of offer open to anyone?
  3. I occasionally run on 95 when I'm very low and the 99 is sold out, but I don't drive it hard and only put in a few gallons at a time. Couldn't really comment on any longer term effects or det but I haven't blown up yet
  4. Sorry for the late response - been a little busy. I had a look at my car last night and the limited amount I could see confirmed the cut-outs for the more central arms. Sadly I couldn't clearly see the side hinges, but from what I could make out, it certainly looked like they were attached to the undertray. The more I think about it the more familiar it seems - I'm fairly sure the active spoiler undertray has raised sections at the side to attach the lip hinges to.
  5. Standard bumpers will fit both the spoiler/non-spoiler undertrays fine. Most of the shape is the same, just with a few tweaks to suit the spoiler. When up, the lip fits snuggly behind the bumper, no problem. You should be able to pick one up from someone on the forum. Put a post in the parts wanted section and/or PM Keron - he quite often gets stuff like that in. My car is J-spec and didn't have any of the active spoiler parts - I bought them all separately and retro-fitted them.
  6. It is one of the lesser known 'JZ' models though, so that must be worth some extra money... Looks expensive to me - I'm sure you could find something better for that money.
  7. The standard undertray on a car without active spoiler is different to the one on an active spoiler car. I believe the one you need has holes to allow for the movement of those arms. To solve the problem in the first pics, you'll need to get the right undertray or remove your current one. To be honest I can't remember where the side brackets attach - I think it may be to the bumper itself, or, actually, I have a feeling the undertray might be shaped for them to attach to it. It was so long ago I did mine and I did it with the bumper on (which was a nightmare) so the blur of angrily forcing it to fit has clouded my memories of exactly what I did. I'm away from the car from this evening until Sunday evening but I should have time to have a look and see if I can figure it out after work tonight. I'll let you know either tonight or tomorrow.
  8. Or speak to Garfy about one of his manual controllers. I did my own manual controller from the diagrams - not too bad really, just a couple of relays and lots of wire (also helped that I bugged Garfy for help a lot)
  9. My first policy at 23 was with Bell - they were the cheapest for me then (not so good with modifications though), but Greenlight were cheaper second time around (more modifications declared). Bell also do a bonus accelrator 10 month policy, which may be worth considering if you need to get your NCD up. Last time I spoke to Sky, they weren't insuring under 25s (or so I was told) and I think A-plan were the same. There are several threads about good insurance companies, have a search and read through - there's plenty of good advice in them. Welcome and good luck with the search
  10. I've not fitted mine yet, but just out of interest, what have people found the clearance is like on speed bumps? It looks pretty low in pics posted so farand judging by some of the speed bumps I go over, I might have to find alternative routes?!
  11. You're missing the point - Craig never said anything about age and wasn't debating the 8 year served sentence. I think the point he's making is that killing is wrong, whatever the person's age and history.
  12. I think you may have taken my posts out of context slightly. I wasn't saying the line between right and wrong is blurred for what they did, they were clearly f***ed in the head. I was also not speaking of this case alone. Talk was of a universal policy affecting all crimes of this and similar nature. This is an open and close case of guilt, others may not be and any precendent set may eventually lead to problems and mistakes. I was merely putting across that I couldn't do to them what they did to Jamie. That, to me, isn't justice - I would feel no better than them. Having said that, I also make no claim to know what my solution of justice would be and hold nothing against anyone who thinks differently from me. I respect, and in a way admire, the conviction of the people that have posted offering the same view as you. Mine is more a position of floundering on the fence contemplating the philosophy of right and wrong, which is why, as I said before, I wouldn't want to be in a position to have to make any sort of decision about this stuff. Yes, what they did was horrific and unforgivable, but my personal view is that I'd take no satisfaction from seeing them tortured.
  13. I don't have any children so I couldn't possibly know. Two wrongs don't make a right and killing a killer does not necessarily bring justice. It may or may not make me feel better, I couldn't be sure. I'd like to think I would hold the same belief, because otherwise, not only would they have robbed me of my child and my child of it's future, putting it through hell in the process, but they'd have destroyed me, too. I'd have lost my values, morals, ethics, anything and everything I hold dear to myself. Maybe when (if) I have children, they will become everything I hold dear and someone taking them away from me may mean that I care for nothing other than to see their end. But does that make it right for my thirst for 'justice' to be satiated by their death? Trying to take an objective view now, I'd say not. The line between right and wrong is subjective. By human nature it's intrinsically impossible for us to make a fundamentally 'correct' call. Many people that have already commented on this thread have their idea of where the line is and are satisfied that they know the correct course. I don't necessarily agree with their assessment and for me the correct course is a little blurred. I suspect that in the position of being the one to enact the aforementioned punishment, many people's previously concrete convictions may also be questioned, mine included. I don't want to bring Batman into this, but I think the boat scene at the end of The Dark Knight highlights my point well. None of the civilians could actually bring themselves to kill the criminals, because in that position your perspective changes. That sort of action carries far more weight than anyone can appreciate without having to face the direct choice. To decide whether to act or not to act is not the same as to hypothesise.
  14. And would you volunteer to execute a 10 year old? I wouldn't - whatever they'd done. I'd be sickened by their actions, mourn and pity what they'd grown to become, but could never bring myself to end them. And who has the power to decide when a 10 year old should be executed? What if the decision is later ruled to have been wrong? What of the executioners - the ones that ordered the killing and the ones that did it? It's not exactly black and white. For some things there just isn't a universal straightforward answer. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in a position where I decide any of that. As much I think them being released (especially after only 8 years - that's a joke) isn't ideal, I don't think the other suggestions are right either.
  15. Blocked at work I'd be interested but football management games have stolen about 30% of my life up to this point and I don't really have that amount of time to spare any more. Will try and have a look though.
  16. Also interested if they're half carbon. What's the fit like, Paul?
  17. Good advice from tbourner there. I don't have a dog myself but have witnessed my girlfriend's mum's two dogs grow from puppies (and one of them had a litter of 4 puppies last year) and it's amazing what a strong word and a bit of ignoring can do - as long as you reward the subsequent good behaviour with praise and attention. It's very funny still watching them get in trouble. The two had a massive fight last week and got shouted at and one of them sulked for 20 minutes looking very sorry for itself cuddling my girlfriend, refusing to move or look at anyone. They're Tibetan Spaniels so very much lap dogs - they were bred, in part, to warm the feet of Tibetan monks. tbourner - Loki's an Alaskan Malamute, isn't he? I seem to remember seeing a thread about him a while ago. They're gorgeous dogs - I can't wait to be able to get one. Good luck Tracie, I'm sure you'll have no problem sorting out the biting with a little hard work
  18. On a slightly related note, I find it infuriating when people refer to multiple text messages as 'textses'. Makes me want to break things. Mostly them. And their stupid faces.
  19. It seems to boost well enough so as far as I know there's no performance loss. Having said that, I went straight from stock to BPU with the cat fitted so can't really make a proper comparison between BPU with cat vs. BPU without cat. Not sure what brand it is, the garage that did it for me got it - it's the same one they use on their 700bhp racing Evo so obviously it doesn't stop the power reaching high figures. It wasn't massively expensive, about £250 I think - I'll try and find out where it came from. I believe it's built into the second decat pipe - I supplied the decat pipe and they cut it up and fixed the cat in the middle. At least that's what they said they would do - haven't actually seen the results to know. I don't have any EGT readings I'm afraid - my budget stopped short of an EGT gauge.
  20. I feel like I shouldn't like it, but I kind of do. That's a pretty good edit for a phone, too!
  21. I have a high flow cat fitted although I haven't taken it through MOT yet. I also don't think I need an emissions test on my MOT because of the car's age - just a check that there is a cat in place - so I have no idea how it compares on emissions. Restriction wise, I still need an RR and was comfortably overboosting to about 1.35 bar with cat and no RR. With ring fitted I now boost to around 1.1. I thought my post would be more helpful to you than that before I started typing... still, you learned something about my car
  22. Mine came through the other day. Thanks for organising, Peter
