  1. Looks like someones getting a bargain. Edit: Someones just got a bargain.
  2. Congratulations, nice car Colin.
  3. If it looks the same, chances are it'll be the same. Do you have any photo's of your igniter?

    Hi!

Loving that Sierra , welcome Mike.
  5. Welder/Fabricator foreman in a small agricultural engineering workshop. It pays the bills.
  6. Sorry to hear that, hope you get them back soon, it'll definitely be worth the wait though. Don't forget to post up a few photo's of the finished job Yeah, I think the silver rings suit the car, definitely better than the all black look I had on my original lights, i'd prefer the chrome look tbh though, I'm going to try doing my other set with some of that chrome spray paint instead, to be honest it probably won't look any different to the first set but i'll give it a go. My plan is to sell the set that I prefer the least to pay for the pair that I bought to practice on and the materials/paint i've used.
  7. Thanks Peter, thanks Mike, have you got your lights back yet?
  8. Thanks guys It is a massive improvement even if I do say so myself.
  9. Bought some facelift headlights that needed refurbing recently and thought i'd post up some photo's of my efforts. There's loads of threads on how to go about doing this yourself so I won't bore you all with details, basically the steps were: 1) Put headlights in the oven 100 degrees for 10 mins each, they pulled apart by hand, no tools needed. 2) Remove all the old sealant (some people recommend re-using it but I wanted to put new stuff in). 3) Polish up lenses inside and out with plasticX by hand, then done a load of sanding with 1500 followed by 2000 grit wet and dry (use plenty of water). To finish I used an electric buffer/polisher with plasticX again on both the inside and the outside (make sure there is no grit on the inside of the lense before you start polishing). 4) Sanded down then painted the headlight inserts matt black (I used a plastic primer first), masked them off then painted the rings silver (matches the colour of the car, but to be honest that was a fluke), final step was to laquer the silver rings to give them a bit of shine. 5) Fill up the gap where the old sealant was in the base of the headlight unit with windscreen sealant (bought from ebay and used a silicone gun to apply). 6) Fit headlight insert into lense first, then push both parts back onto the headlight base, attaching all the little metal clips around the outside that hold it together to pull it back into place. 7) Wipe off any excess sealant around the outside of the headlight unit. 8) Removed my existing headlights on the car and fitted the refurbed set. I must admit, I was nervous about doing this as I thought i'd balls it up (thats why I bought another set of lights to practice on). It really isn't difficult, just a bit time consuming. I'd urge anyone to give it a try. I'm going to do my other set of facelifts next as they are in better condition to start with, I thought they were quite good condition really but they are yellowed on the inside when compared to the refurbed ones. Hope you enjoy the photo's, I know I like looking at these sort of threads Photo's are in no particular order, mainly because i'm useless with computers and most likely cocked it up when uploading them. Cheers Tom
  10. Yeah I thought it would be quite expensive , I hope Lindsay isn't into body building aswell?, then it would be a dear do.

    Now this is fun

Thats what I mean, My younger brother bought a nova 1.2 for £50 when he first passed his test, it had tax and MOT too. The cheapest cars I ever bought were a £40 Fiat uno (from my sister, it was my first car), £50 Cavalier Sri (just needed sills replacing), and my personal favourite was my first of three xr3i's, I paid £100 for it as it was supposedly going to fail its MOT miserably, I drove it to a different mot centre, it went straight through the test with no advisories, to celebrate I polished the paintwork then hoovered the interior out and found £12 under the seats, I drove that car around for about 2.5 years Those days of cars for £50 are unfortunately long gone since that bloody scrappage scheme

    Now this is fun

Its funny how these cars were ten a penny in the 90's - early 2000's, so you wouldn't look twice at them on the road back then as they were so common, now any old 80's/90's hot hatches catch my eye, particularly in standard form. I'd love a series 1 escort rs turbo or another 1.9 peugeot 205 gti, I loved that car (until the pistonrings went ). The price of all these old hot hatches is on the up. It makes me wonder if my supra will ever be worth decent money again if I keep it garaged, low mileage and stock?
  14. Scutch, I was quoted £170 for them to do a pair of facelift lights (price includes sending back to me), Mikes getting a real bargain for £100, the company must have realised the job is more complicated than they first thought so raised the price somewhat .
  15. They look good Mike Simon emailed me today to tell me he would hope to turn mine around in 10 days if all goes well, he attached a couple of photo's of yours to show me. I think i'll see how my diy efforts turn out first, if I balls it up i'll maybe send them to him

    hello all

    Welcome Max supra
  17. It'll be fine (welding the cat up so it fits), as for driving without an exhaust, you will attract alot of attention to yourself, hopefully you will get lucky

    End of an Era!!

Congratulations mate, in my opinion you've bought one of the best cars on this forum
  19. They have been on since I bought the car, i'm in the middle of refurbing a second set of facelifts at the moment, i've removed all the old sealant and going to re-seal them with windscreen sealant, hopefully they'll be better.
  20. I found the best solution is to leave the car in the garage unless its sunny. Mine only steam up if I drive the car in the rain, I got so sick of taking them out and using a hair dryer on them every time I used the car that I only use it on dry days now.
  21. With respect, Adam B, I generally like everyone and rarely find myself annoyed by posts made on this forum, but on first impressions (with regards to your posts on this thread) you are a bit of a tool, an over agressive one at that, you keep hinting that you are a grown man etc, perhaps you could act it and keep you're opinions to yourself.
  22. I would do mine gunmetal grey if I needed a respray.
  23. How about 199 silver, just to be different from the rest?
