As above, the vent is needed for the chimney breast. When we block up fireplaces at work we are always required to leave the chimeny breast ventilated.

When mine broke down last year it turned out to be a 25p fuse on the circuit board, i was relieved to say the least.

I think it depends on the plumbing you have in the house. I have a conventional boiler and would probably replace with the same so that I didn't have to mess around changing the shower etc which wouldn't be compatible with a combi.

Welcome to the club. I haven't seen it on the internet yet but there was a silver NA for sale in Ipswich last week. I think it was up for about £2400 at a garage on Bramford Road, I'll see if I can find the place online for you. Looks like its all going well. I had a new Kitchen fitted a few months ago after renovating the rest of the house and it completely transformed the place. I might even get some pics up at some point to show the house before and after, I'll wait until its completely finished though as I've still got a few bits to sort out.
