  1. I've found the full set on Amazon, new but a couple of the covers slightly creased for £60. I thought that was quite good really. Until I find another job, I've basically got the time in between to job hunt and make myself useful so I figure I can knuckle down and get studying for this little lot. I've got a few old computers laying around that I can cobble together to make a network and then practice the stuff in the books, seems like a good way to learn - by doing.
  2. Lol.. that's ok mate, I appreciate you trying to help Good advice on that link by the sounds of it, cheers! Guys, is it worth splashing the money out on this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Self-Paced-Training-70-290-70-291-70-293/dp/0735622906/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236616743&sr=1-2 or just getting the 70-290 to start with (which is £27 on it's own)?
  3. I very much doubt they'd pay for an MCSE. Daman, I've been working in IT since I left college 8 years ago. I've done 1st line helpdesk support, then a Uni technician on an XP network and more recently everything-support at a local firm. My knowledge is mainly Microsoft stuff, XP and Windows 2003 SBS/Standard with Exchange, IIS, ISA, WSUS and a little SQL. I've done a fair bit of network cabling and a very small bit of Linux/Unix. A few other little unusual things that were fairly company specific too. All round network admin I suppose.
  4. I think I'll be looking at the cheap way too. You don't have the books still that you'd like to pass on for a good price do you? I agree employers are looking for experience but it has been said to me a couple of times now that to get the extra experience/knowledge that I need, an MCSE would be ideal. My career seems to be at a sticky point, I have a reasonable all-round knowledge so I am above basic technician roles but I don't have enough in-depth knowledge for a senior role.
  5. Ok, thanks for that. I'll have a look at the MCP to start with, though a full MCSE would be something I'd be heading towards. I spoke to a company last week who were possibly interested in taking me on in a Sales role with a view to doing an MCSE and moving to a Senior Systems Engineer role further down the line.
  6. Thanks Michael, I knew it was going to be expensive The other thing I was wondering was whether it was worth going 2003 or straight in to 2008.
  7. One for the IT bods obviously. I was made redundant last week and it's obvious that I'm going to have to really get off my arse and work hard to get a new job at the moment. One thing I've wanted to do for a while, and that a couple of potential employers have mentioned to me is that an MCSE would make me much more appealing to potential employers. So my question is, where do I start, where do I do it, can I get all the resources online (I've seen links on here to helpful stuff), and the big one being how much will it cost all in? Cheers for any help guys and gals
  8. It's thin, weak, and pivots at each end. I shall point you to this thread - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=144749&highlight=strut+brace and in particular the comments by CW on page 2 which explain things better than I will. I can't find the post, but I'm sure somewhere CW commented that the only half decent brace out there for actually adding to structural rigidity is the Carbing brace which is solid and welded to the strut brackets.
  9. Might look nice but it won't do bugger all for your handling.
  10. Thanks Andrew, Darryl and Ricky, all your help is really appreciated Look forward to seeing you sometime over the weekend Andrew!
  11. I think any of those will be ok for me. I might even be able to drive by then, fingers crossed!
  12. And no, I didn't know Garfy had been. I'll have to give him a shout!
  13. Ok Andrew, if you speak to Darryl then he'll be able to give you his postcode? I think I'll be in Eastbourne most of the weekend, as I'm helping (read supervising) some mates rebuild an engine. I'll drop you my number as I've no idea of the road names of where they live!
  14. I'd like to hear how you get on Andrew, as I want to take the Supra up there once I'm secure in a job again. I hear good things. Ermm, whoever it would be easiest to pick it up, I really don't mind? I can get to Eastbourne relatively easy, or if Rick is coming this way anyway and doesn't mind dropping it in then that would be great?
  15. Oh Ricky, you would be a star if you could do this for me. Homer, I'm so sorry this hasn't been picked up yet It's just been one thing after another. I've only this week got a wheel to replace the one on the Mondeo that was buckled from the pot-hole but still can't drive it as my ankle is still in plaster And today, I was officially made redundant, what a few weeks it's been!
  16. Hi Sean, I'm in need of a set of coil packs. How old are they, and how much are you after for them? Only in Hastings so can collect ASAP if you have them. Cheers, Mark.
  17. Hope this doesn't sound ungrateful, but rather it be somebody I've met before. I'm not as fussy as most on here about who drives it, but I have to know they are a good driver first. If my girlfriend or one of my mates are free I'm sure one won't mind driving it Well, in the cast for another 4 weeks but the consultant has said it could take a few weeks to walk on it again after that. All depends really how quickly I get use of it back and build the muscles up. Apparently got to have physio on it and a few people have recommended hydrotherapy too as it should help get the use back quickly. Sorry for the off-topic!
  18. I'll be up for this if I can find somebody to drive my car for me
  19. My friend's Dad has been slowly building a Fisher Fury for about a year now. It will be a lovely car when it's done, but the kit is awful. From the lack of instructions to the enourmous amount of things that weren't done right (welds) or didn't fit (gearbox mounts, steering mounts, suspension mounts) it's been quite a struggle. Had it not been for the fact that he's a very experienced mechanic, one son is an army-trained welder and the other is an engineer I think it'd have been nigh on impossible. Certainly to any half-decent standard. It's put me off having one myself due to the work involved, I'd buy one ready done. Unless you've got the money to waste on a Caterham which probably will fit together (vastly overpriced though), then don't bother.
  20. Already two cars there with GTR's and Garath and myself didn't make it!
  21. It's pretty good, I was suprised at it's ability in low light. Just give me a shout The ankles not too bad, just awkward and a little achey. Sounds like I was lucky and didn't do too much damage so only another 4.5 weeks to go! Not too hot on the crutches and fed up with not being able to drive
  22. Bloody hell Dick, that's awful Am so gutted for you, I know how much work you put in to that thing. I'll have a chat with my friend across the road and get him and his wife to keep an extra special watch just in case. I've got one of those wifi CCTV D-Link cams from Michael, I'm not really using it at the moment and you are more than welcome to borrow it if you think it might be useful? You can set it up to record to your PC and also motion detect, though you might have trouble as your road is very busy. Don't know if it would help either but you're welcome to stick it on my driveway once I get the Peugeot out of the way.
  23. Hmm true the X5 is very nice to drive. Do not get a manual though, they are absolutely awful to drive.
