  1. Couldn't agree more! Yes that is true Simon, good point of view there too thank you. They are asking for excellent customer-facing skills so that fits your theory very well. We may think it, but we mustn't say it
  2. Cheers Daman, that confirms what I thought. Just want to get it right, and not standing there calling them users when they refer to them as customers.
  3. I thought I was the geek as the engineer? Nothing wrong with it, it's just that in the job spec they mention 'customers' and I assume they are referring to 'users'. For the presentation, I have put in customers but an old manager suggested this didn't sound right. When I told him why I'd done it he thought it sounded strange but maybe customers was the PC way to refer to them?
  4. Hi Everybody, Touchy subject I know, all this PC stuff. But.. I need to know the 'politically correct' term for computer users in general. It's for a presentation for a job interview, local authority kind of thing so want to get the terms right. I think 'customer' is the PC term for them, but want to see if anybody has any other opinions. Correct or funny
  5. Cheers guys, I can get it from Toyota in two days here but they want £391 for it Paul at Whifbitz can get them in for £250 which is a hell of a saving. I just can't justify not waiting at the moment especially as I'm still jobless Appreciate the offers of help though
  6. My Supra isn't going to make it, one of the upper rear arms is shot and it's not good to drive, back end is all over the place. Can't get a part for a couple of weeks either It's driveable but not quickly, and feels very unstable on corners. Looks like a good meet too. Might pop along but it'll either be in the Mundano or in the Type-R if I can borrow it
  7. Lol.. don't be a tart, mine's got a huge dent in the rear quarter and needs half of the car respraying. It's not a show and shine! I don't remember driving past you but my memory is shocking. Could have been my girlfriend driving it or there's another guy just outside of Hastings with a red UK.

Oh I see Did they really need a refurb, I have to admit I didn't look very closely but they looked in good condition! I really need to get a couple of mine refurbed but unfortunately having UK brakes means I have to find somebody with 17+ to borrow! Tsk..
  9. Oh down on Harley Shute? Not in your Supra though I take it?
  10. I use to see a green one in Bexhill, nice colour and quite unusual. My car doesn't get out very much at the moment, had a broken leg in a cast for 6 weeks and still can't drive it as I need to get the new tyres fitted!

Was being cheuferred in the missus' Civic and saw you a couple of cars ahead on Lottbridge Drove. Where's your Lexus wheels?!
  12. You must have just snuck that back on as it wasn't on still when I went to the job centre earlier
  13. Right outside Macdonalds is horrible, a nasty speedbump and a huge hump in the road! What's the verdict? If it helps my friend and I think you should bolt something back on, and quickly!
  14. Saw you driving round the car park, was sat in Macdonalds (the shame). What's happened to your spoiler??
  15. Cheers for the pointers guys, will have a look at that in the morning
  16. Ok Pete thanks, I'll have a look in to that. Not something I've got involved with before. Cheers
  17. One for the techie's on here, not even sure if this is easily possible. I have a W2k3 server at home with IIS on it, and also on a share on the server are several thousand photos. I want something that I can access through my server, web based that will let me browse through the photos with thumbnails? I'm hoping for something with minimum effort to sort out, something that I could point at the folders and would sort the rest out. Not sure what I want exists though, certainly not for free?

    turbo pics

That first turbo has sucked something in and chewed it up, not a good sign! The yellow isn't discolouring, it looks as though somebody has painted the blades??
  19. Yup, sounds good. With a bit of luck I'll be there!
  20. Dick, out of interest what do you log on your Innovate?
  21. Looks like a brilliant kit. I wonder if it'll fit our RHD cars though? It'll be touch and go around the steering column area..
  22. Cheers Dick I have been very guilty of that in the past, and made a right mess of looms, so I vowed this one would be different!
  23. Cheers Darryl I'm very glad I bought it, the one and only thing that I wired in to the car loom was the BCC and it was a nightmare, there's so little slack in the loom that it made it very difficult to do anything. It's a godsend having this on the desk and being able to fit everything you want then put it in the car!
  24. Just finished doing some bits to my fields harness and adding some extra wires to it to make it useful. I've made a small loom and wired it in to the harness for my datalogger (Innovate LMA-3). This loom has it's own plug so that the datalogged can be unplugged from the harness and either removed without too much hassle with pulling wires back through small gaps in the dashboard. I've also got a few spare wires in the harness should I want to expand what I do with the datalogger or add extra functionality. One last thing that I had a brainwave about the other day, was finding a fairly simple way to power my gadgets and accessories. Things like gauges, boost controller, etc. I wanted a way to easily share one power source amongst these devices and them not be permanently wired in. The idea I came up with was using Molex connectors, the same as the connectors used in computers to connect hard drives and CD/DVD drives. My main reasonings being that the connectors are cheap and easy to come by, and that you can plug and unplug things very easily so they are not hard wired in. Everything becomes modular as such. You can even expand the amount of connectors easily by going down the local computer shop and buying splitters to add 2 or 3 more connectors. So I've now got this: http://www.i-macca.co.uk/stuff/supe/supe-fields1.jpg http://www.i-macca.co.uk/stuff/supe/supe-fields2.jpg You can see the two connectors I've added, the large 8-pin for the data logger harness and the smaller 4-pin for the power. I've only bothered using two of the four pins for 12V and earth as that's all I will be needing. This shows one of the 3-1 splitters for the Molex power connectors: http://www.i-macca.co.uk/stuff/supe/supe-fields3.jpg And plugged in to the harness connector: http://www.i-macca.co.uk/stuff/supe/supe-fields4.jpg And then with the boost controller and a couple of temperature sensors plugged in for power. The reason for the extra Molex plugs in the temperature sensors is that they are originally designed for computer case use, and there is (hidden by the black tape) and inline resistor for them. I could have taken out one of the plugs, but I hadn't thought about it at the time and I can't be bothered now: http://www.i-macca.co.uk/stuff/supe/supe-fields5.jpg
  25. I know XP inside out, well I think I do. I thought I knew 2003 and Exchange pretty well until I spoke to an MCSE the other day who caught me out in seconds, so it shows I have plenty to learn (not that I was arrogant enough to think otherwise). I know what you mean about the 'Microsoft Way' though! Cheers Daman, I'll do some reading up on the core exams and see what suits best and then head towards that first.
