Hey guys, Used to be a member many moons ago and bought a Jspec Supra in Silver, GZ I think? (Twin Turbo, active front lip etc). Long story short, now looking for another supra and have good memories of that one - would love to track it down admittedly it's a long shot. Basically bought her in 2007 from the forum - K432 CDW ( I Think) from Benzsupra? Bensupra? something like that. Then I sold it to Kosmic who sprayed it BMW Carbon black who later sold it on I think around the end in 2008. It's a long shot but figured I'd ask to see if she was still on the forum and maybe even up for sale. Currently moved on from Supras after having to sell my project MKIV a few years ago and now it's time to replace her and as I'm often in the UK (or was pre COVID), seems a perfect time to try and search for my old one. Cheers

so, been a while! House move, visas, new job all took priority but back to work. New garage is much bigger which is awesome. I've decided that I"m going to buy a shortblock built by whifbitz or titan - simply struggling tfor time so it means I can get it in and sling it in on one of my weeks off rather than having to assemble it while rushing. For the time being, time to try out a few colours https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11169248_10152668719266829_1321706831480962352_n.jpg?oh=1ae740a51b51f605eb673d24a65ae151&oe=55DEAAF9 https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/10690009_10152668719351829_5520120524896510780_n.jpg?oh=e7ff7e75a2ac83af11fe920686936b69&oe=55DAF9C5 my hard working assistant https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/11138531_10152668719086829_879525385057798976_n.jpg?oh=c49044cbcfc876e07f83b53c8218f45e&oe=55E0E051 first coat https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/10944836_10152668944361829_7381024307031883996_n.jpg?oh=d7717296f724909a431ada9355e64ad0&oe=55D8BF6B&__gda__=1436927074_17492a7bb834af9924a65bc8135f52e2 and a few more coats. I decided to plastidip the car for now so I can see how the colour sits with me. I was thinking of going the metallic bronze-red of the newer clios, but I remembered a ''blurple'' edit: the colour was ''royal sapphire blue'' vvti supra years ago that a mate showed me, that I was in no position to buy being 20ish.. Couldn't help but try it out as I remember falling for the colour straight away, and am real pleased. Hung between leaving it dipped for some time, or stripping it down and and painting it now while the motor is out. It'l be a track machine so 'functional' rather than pretty will do for now but I do Like the idea of dressing up the garage and giving it a full DIY sand down, prep and spray that said so will give it a think! wheels - I think some white Rays Zeldas might look good and am thinking of going for these but aren't sure.. Plus not sure if they'll be big enough for the brakes I want and for laying down the power.. 18x8 / 18x9's. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/19607_10152669010451829_7983148187436275937_n.jpg?oh=7943fea1721e92968f3004310c661b80&oe=55A50BA2&__gda__=1437296483_35490915988ac4a27b83e13977a1539c

Hey guys I've decided to go full out on the build and have a full respray or wrap done. I was going to go BMW Carbon black but I thought why not be a bit more adventurous and unique.. In my head I have a really metallic/candy red that sparkles in the light. I don't know where I've seen it before, with carbon ''f1 style'' small mirrors, a carbon wing, valances etc. I can picture it so well in my head but can't find an example of the colour I'm thinking even on a similar or different car, so am opening it up to the more learned. The best colour I can match it to -is if anyone has a pair of Dr Dre Beats? The colour of the metal jack tha tplugs into your device. Like that but slightly more depth/reflection to it, slightly darker? Any suggestions?? Thinking it would look great with some white Zelda's (or terrible. things always look better in my head ) edit SORT of like this but a bit darker perhaps - that looks a bit toooo.. plasticy? possibly just the lighting/bodykit/mirrors/wheel combo..

Anyone id this wheel? No badge in the middle. It's not the standard 3 spoke wheel, is factory, but obviously not the TRD one either so I'm confused. About to sell it on but would like to know what it is to put it in the ad first https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/10841910_10152409752891829_3867202394113074208_o.jpg

IMHO I'd sooner lump the money at a shelby gt500 with proper power. Issues for me are 1) they'll be everywhere. Sort of why I went off the mustang in the US 2) I'm not convinced they'll do anything particularly well 3) with the softer lines for broader appeal and the range of eco engines it's lost the muscle car appeal imo 3) it will depreciate like a stone after not all too much time I can't imagine the interior will be as basic as the previous us models and will be typical ford which I don't think is bad. Annoying because it's potentially a very affordable new muscle car but I can't see it being for me unless they bring out a very special model.. eg the new gt500

so have been totting up bits I've weighed or replaced below. forgive the formatting, just copied and pasted from an excel file. removed not yet removed replaced OEM Driver's seat 24kg -24 5.8 Passenger's seat 15 kg -15 5.8 Rear seats, seatbelts, bolts etc 16kg -16 Door cards 6kg (included aftermarket speakers) -6 Minidisc player 3kg -3 spare wheel 18kg -18 speakers 4kg -4 Wheels -46 32 exhaust -30 15 bonnet -12 aircon pump, fan, exchanger -14 Steering wheel -3.5 battery -15 5 rear wiper and motor -3 front brakes -31 20 heater matrix -11.5 I want to keep a level of comfort for now, headliners, doorcards, the dash. if I scrap the road registration I might go to the extent of ripping them out. I've probably added a few more things already that aren't totted up too, the dash covering for example, harnesses, things that should amount to the odd kilo here or there but then there are a million bolts and bits of wire and plastic that I haven't added up that have come out too. All up I'm coming up with a 168 kilo saving but some of the replacement parts aren't here so weights guessed at. It will be interesting to see what wait savings or gains I make in the engine dept as far as forged internals and the single turbo go. Thinking of looking into plastic windows and carbon panels too but will see what the benefit will be first.. Saving at present: -168.4kg

Bar the fuel pump and one of the mounts, because I got lazy Had the brainstorm to potentially respray or wrap the beast next, not sure which way to go - was thinking metallic candy red if wrapped - the sort of colour of my rear strut above. Not sure how it'd look on a relatively standard bodied supra, but not sure I want to go to the effort of a widebody.. Although it's something I haven't tried before so would be fun to give it a shot... hmm..... In other news, gearbox sold, steering wheel and headlights about to sell as well as the exhaust and wheels which will all mean that the supra will only owe me about $2000 by next week - sweet!

poor finish on teeth and slipping etc the main downside? I guess this is all less risky on a non-interference engine? Although I've not read any horror stories I'd guess the gears cracking in two due to a shoddy alloy / manufacturing defects could be a risk too? Not that I'm planning to get any, interesting to know the real world difference though. I've had nothing but bad experiences with cheap no name chinese made ebay parts for bikes.
-
haha much the same this side mate, sure you can get engineer's reports etc but it's an effort. I'll generally only use it to the track and back - worst comes to worse I'll probably keep it off road and get a trailer but would rather have it road registered. The road laws here do my head in sometimes!

a bit more progress - sump and bottom half of the block off. maybe not as relevant as its now close to 40 most days, but my supra is a 1994 and is litereally rust free.. no idea how it's been kept ie garaged etc, but it does get cold and wet here in the winter months (all three/four of em )

May look into stretching the passenger's side with water Would like my wheel and carbon to turn up soon! really I'm just poking around with the inside because I'm still not 100% on what way to go with the engine. being on this half of the world sucks at times, 2600 could land me a built bottom end from whifbitz (which is a great price but the exchange rate makes that $5k) which is double the cost of me building it (but between starting a new business and the day job may mean it takes longer). In other news I've agreed a sale of the w58 to a gent who wants to manualise is v8 soarer..which means a 6 speed just got cheaper (but I've found an e46 m3 box for the same price as my w58 which is a very interesting proposition. I could fully rebuild it, mod it and still potentially be ahead compared to a v160/161. (found a realatively cheap one - it doesn't look in good condtion.) Also been toying with the auto/uprated/paddle setup but lack of support on this side of the globe puts me off.. until next time..

turned my attention back to the engine for a half hour today: https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10371909_10152349885556829_8741009345054342764_n.jpg?oh=f7b10f369574fdd445263deba3fcc1e8&oe=54E0A985&__gda__=1424115091_a716fd542089d9001b1621ae3dda43f8 Things look in good nick on first look Next to strip the second turbo off the head, not had any problems removing bolts due to my massive... torque wrench, but how the hell anyone is supposed to get the angle on some of the turbo/manifold bolts is beyond me.. a few ancillaries to remove, then will flip the motor and pull the pan, crank, rods and pistons have the block cleaned and see where we need to go from there. Still debating if to rebuild the short block or just order in a brand new one or a built one.. time will tell!
