  1. Why would you want a nearly 20 year old design to look more modern? You wouldnt whip the chrome off of an E-type and bung on a £145 front bumper you bought off of Ebay in an attempt to modernise it. I think the chaps in the past that have "modified" Supras (in particular, whoever called the shots on the F+F car!), probably hit the mark at the time but when I look back at the F+F car for example, I cringe. I really like the trial rear/TRD spoiler combo, but again, in time it will probably look dated. Cant beat the stock look, its a classic excluding wheels, exhaust, HID's, spoileress option, de-badging, and interior modification - terms and conditions apply, always read the small print
  2. Its a terrible price, thought you could at least add another grand to that - but then you dont know what kinda hell its been through. Dubious mileage
  3. Up to you my friend, but as a couple of members have already stated - they have/do run cars with the 2nd cat in place, and their cars are making around 0.9 bar I think you may be getting a little hung up on this magic 0.9 bar figure. Think you should either drop both cats, fit a 1 bar ring, and a decent EBC as many many people have done before.... or, lose the 1st cat and run a decent boost gauge just to monitor whats happening in your manifold - if you're finding that the boost is creeping past what you're happy with, then look at fitting a RR The FMIC is a step in the right direction though
  4. £4700 buy it now! The world's gone mad
  5. Replaced ignition coil Cleaned down idle valve Cleaned throttle body Checked all hoses and manifold for air leaks Still no joy - but seemed to run a little sweeter when I increased the air flow by removing one of the vacuum lines that go to the EGR (located after the butterfly). Guessing the idle valve is starving the engine of air. Had to reconnect the EGR pipe though as it is located downstream of the MAF sensor, didnt want to muck the mixture up too much. Focus' Rock! Booked in for a professional to take a look, cant be doing with with this "replacing parts til its fixed" attitude I think I have this guy lodged in the manifold somewhere
  6. 6.1.9(b) - Wonder what counts as illegal
  7. If you're fitting a 1 bar ring, then that will be the maximum boost pressure available - an electronic boost controller will allow you to increase on this. If you're looking to hit a maximum of 0.9 bar, then you will have to fit a smaller diameter restrictor ring; something that will restrict the flow of exhaust gasses more. This in itself will only be possibly by a lot of trial and error, fabricating up numerous restrictor rings of different sizes then fitting them and testing them to see what the restrict the full boost pressure to. The problem with this will be that the ring you fabricate to restrict the boost to 0.9 bar now, will more that likely allow the boost to creep up when the weather changes ***somebody jump in and correct me if im wrong*** I'd definately change the fuel pump, and if you havent already then i'd look at renewing the intercooler. And if you really want some peace of mind, look into investing in an AFR or EGT gauge
  8. 0.2 bar probably wont give you a great deal of performance increase, but you will get faster spool from losing the cats. I have both cats out of my car and it has only failed 1 MOT for emissions, and that was due to an o2 sensor failure. If youre that bothered though, you could keep hold of the 2nd cat and fit it at MOT time (should only take 1/2 an hour to refit) If you're going to do it, the go the whole hog. Full BPU conversion including boost controller, and boost gauge. And if you dont want to nail the turbo's then dont nail the car..... too much
  9. The Mrs' Focus has been running like poop for the past couple of months so I thought i'd give it a little service today New Spark plugs New leads Air filter Engine oil and filter Fuel fiter Drive belt It now runs a little better, but I'm still getting the previous problem. When idling and at low RPM, i'm getting a chugging noise from the exhaust, and a low frequency "bonging" noise from the airbox - it really does run crappy on idle. I thought i'd open up the airbox and have a better listen, and it does genuinely sound like theres a little fella in there, wailing away on a pair of bongo's! I think it's an unusual one, but then i'm no mechanic. Any one have anything similar to this before? Just wanted a few possible suggestions, was convinced it was the coil earlier today but now i'm edging towards thinking maybe a vacuum leak but its way too late to go take a look now. Cheers
  10. Bumper, rear lights, coilovers, spoiler, wishbones, exhaust, respray..... make a real meal of it!
  11. Not a very good advert for whoever carried out the first rebuild
  12. Think IanC did a guide on replacing these, the guide is helpful but its not until you're actually faced with the job that you realise quite how easy they are to replace. Order the connectors from Whifbitz or Toyota, and get cracking
  13. Klitschko to K.O in the 9th - 20 clams says so
  14. Or save your £100 to go towards one of these: http://whifbitzperformancetuning.co.uk/toyota-supra-supra-engine-components-cylinder-head-components-garage-whifbitz-p-5855.html

    Heya :)

    Shame on you
  16. Your engine bay is awesome, there are probably a couple of bits you could change to make it different but not necessarily better. Starting this kinda project would be the obsession that keeps me awake at night
  17. Dont forget he was in the princess bride too! he looked old in that, that musta have been early 80's
  18. Good shout, I've had two sets of these now. Always thought of them as a "budget-ish" tyre, but they always perform well and if not hammered, seem to last a decent amount of time

    Supra!

Looking at getting a set of Rota's, any chance of taking a few more pics when the bodywork's done? Would be interested to see how the wheels sit in the arches with that offset
  20. As said falken 452's are a pretty good tyre, think someone mentioned that they were actually made by Dunlop. Best place I found for these is Blackcircles Another option, if money is tight and you just need to get through the MOT, get some decent part worns from Ebay Brake lines, I'd probably just go for Goodridge braided lines - also available from traders on Ebay Brake pads....take your pick! Despite the extra cost, I've never really noticed much difference in feel or stopping distance on any of the different make of pad I've used.... but thats just me, and I DO have shagged out old J-specs
  21. If you're going to be running the 5-speed box, then it will probably die a very brutal death with those projected power figures If you're eventually looking for about 600bhp (if you are in fact serious about all this), then you will need to have a getrag 6-speed conversion which will cost you a fair whack (used the search bar), or the other option is to go with a built autobox, also not a cheap option. Bearing all this in mind, the best option for you would be to sell your n/a, add that to the £8,000 you have budgeted for the conversion, and buy a tidy TT 6-speed from a member when one arises. When you add it all up, including your future plans: TT engine transplant, single turbo conversion, 6-speed conversion, TT diff, UK TT brakes etc....etc. It all becomes very expensive, the investment in a decent 6-speed TT now, will probably save you cash in the long haul
