  1. lets not overlook the cerbera speed six lump - sounds awesome, a little high maintenace but you cant argue with the figures. i'd agree with the facts, technology has moved on but i think the 2jz has a charector of its own. better is not always best, most modern engines lack a little soul. take the old lump out of the sd1, how many lives has that had! not that i have driven one but clarkson said that the new gtr lacked a soul, that the engine was flawless, perfect.
  2. yes. smooth, reliable, flexable, powerful, highly tunable, strong stock internals, easy to work on. done
  3. my brother has one, he doesnt have the balls to keep up with me on the twisties... cant say i blame him though. ive driven it a few times and found it very....skittish! and i'd definately agree that in the wet, they are hairier than a japanese playboy magazine
  4. a speedboat is nicer to drive than an mr2 turbo....
  5. £22,000 anyone? http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/26009/Maxda_RX7_V8_673bhp.html
  6. ace of spades, best driving song ever
  7. i have seen many running ls2's...nice combination:)
  8. good point - a few of the rx7s running singles claim 5-600bhp, how the fook do people lay down all 600 of their claimed horses in such a nimble little car. ive never heard of them having a "widow maker" reputation but i imagine they can be a handful with big power
  9. i have always wondered how garages can justify the cost of rebuilding a rotary engine. i have heard that £4-5k isnt unheard of. i believe the engines have to have an overhaul every 50k, but unless im completely off the mark, rotary engines arnt massively complex. i think is the compactness, and light weight which appeals - looks wise, i'd take the supra any day. im taking a stab in the dark, but im guessing in stock form, the rx7 and supra would have similar performance in a 0-60 - 1/4 mile scenario if the power to weight ratio is anything to go by. obviously the supra has a meatier mid/top end, but the rx7 is more agile.... cant believe i'm bigging up an rx7 on the supra forum...!
  10. more than a supra??? i was particularly taken with this cheeky little slut that jurgen was selling http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1068699.htm maybe i should just look and not touch!
  11. i love my supra, even just gazing at it out of the window. however, i have recently been tempted by rx7's. its kinda like the flirty office girl at work; she looks fun, but could you really cheat on your wife?? please slag off the rx7 to stop me leaving my supra for another jap
  12. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=198833 its an auto, but he's on your doorstep....more or less
  13. my mate washed his fireblade with a pressure washer....it took the decals off fairing
  14. buy a cheap electric toothbrush and lots of gunk. hav'nt considered pressure washing the engine in my supra, a couple years back i dropped a bottle of coolant in the engine bay of my old n/a.. took hours to soak it all up from the spark plug gulleys. maybe a better option would be to steam clean it? i use a little karcher steam cleaner on espresso machines everyday at work, does the job really well

    dear god.....

that kit doesnt seem to fit very well in any of the pictures, especially around the headlights. but besides the hideous kit, did anyone take any notice the interior? the shifter surround panel was missing, and the seats looked like shit. i dont know what $150000 is in real money, but its definately too much
  16. my BASIC service intervals: every 4 months engine oil change - £70 ish for oil, £10 ish for filter every 12 months replace fuel filter - £35 coolant change - £40 set of tyres - £600-£1000 (obviously depending on what brand/size) every 24 months spark plugs - £60 ish diff fluid - £25 transmission fluid £15 if youre doing all of this basic stuff yourself, you'll make quite a saving. not sure what garages charge lately for labour but im guessing its probably in the region of £35-£70 an hour depending on where you go. if you're not very hands on with your car, then its probably a good time to learn basic servicing. other than that, its a good idea to check things regularly; ball joints, play in wheel bearings, brake lines etc. somewhere on here there is a dowload displaying all of the recommended intervals, and what to check at what time. if obsessive though, you'll find yourself checking everything quite regularly; personally i have got to the point where i drive everywhere with the radio off and the window open so that i can listen out for suspicious noises.... some say i need a life??
  17. you pay 1500 euro's per year for road tax!?
  18. all the info that youre after is available on the site, its just a case of searching. as mentioned before, if youre a tight arse then this isnt the car for you!
  19. maybe there will be a hardpipe kit available for this soon?
  20. very true... will more than likely buy one from paul asap, regardless of whether there is any feedback on them or not. im sure they're more than upto the job
  21. as dsk put it; i would like to hear from someone who has fitted one and ran it for a while. how the unit fits, performs etc
  22. im still running the stock i.c, which is now 16 years old. i have no interest in having a front mount as im staying bpu, and not planning on exceeding 400bhp - and i think they look a bit bling and bit gay (awaits onslaught from 1000's of fmic'd owners). miami-gt were offering a replacement unit at £450, but im believe the company went under. chris wilson does a very good unit about £650, but will only have them made in numbers. nic was able to source oem units and the greddy "uprated" option at decent prices, but i think he has also gone off the radar. so seeing as i couldnt get one from anywhere but toyota (not cheap!) i had sort of put it on hold until i spotted that whifbitz had started selling them. has anyone bought one of these yet? or has anyone (who knows what they're on about) seen one? if so, what are your opinions on the unit? im guessing its a direct replacement with similar dimensions as the oem i.c; but will it, like the greddy, support a small single application quite comfortably. i think these questions would be better answered by paul himself, but im guessing that there will be alot of interest from other members - hence the thread. im sure its a quality bit of kit, and think that there is definately a gap in the market for a well priced smic
