  1. Not as far as i was aware; the sz's when new, were quoted a 6.5 sec 0-60 time. the puma's weren't massively off of this mark with 7.2 sec. The power to weight ratios also come into play; I believe the SZ was around 135bhp/tonne, when it rolled out of the factory. the puma on the other hand, was around 125bhp/tonne. Lets also remember that my old n/a was on a 94 plate; im sure a few of the horses had bolted by this stage! No doubt the SZ would/will nail alot of hothatches top end, but it was the quick response and additional beef from the variable cams which gave the puma the edge. This was when i decided I needed a TT Any one else care to add to this? Am I right in suggesting that a pissy hairdressers car is as quick as a SZ? Im not trying to rile up the n/a owners on this forum, im purely just stating that her ford puma was as quick as my toyota supra - which feels wrong in many ways!
  2. My old n/a was probably as quick as my girlfriend 1.7 ford puma, but like you say, its a supra. If you're content with pottering about, with the odd backroad blast (yes, i have just realised what i wrote), then it will probably suffice. As you probably already know, power is pretty addictive; would you want to shell out for an n/a, only to realise that 6 months later you want more? Could you post some pics of the 20v, sounds like its worth a gander
  3. silly answer to your problem, i know; how about waiting for your car to warm up sufficiently before driving?
  4. just had a guy called jukka, at fin imports make me an offer. he said he'd give me £5200 for it as long as i can get it to harwich tomorrow morning; apparantly he has one spot left in his container. sounds dodgy...
  5. absolutely perfect car -this is the reason im trying to shift my supra; no doubt you'll be able to source a similar car once i have mine sold? budgeting at 10-12k
  6. havent got a clue on the laws regarding cats - I was under the impression that if a car had cats to start with, then they should stay in? but i think most MOT stations just go with the flow

  8. will have more pictures up at the weekend the cats are long gone, apparently some MOT stations overlook such things.... so i hear?? stock airbox is long gone, the induction kit only has a couple of hundred miles on it though the car didnt have a wing when i bought it i have owned the car 2 years in february two front will go through an mot, but will need replacing
  9. more to follow at the weekend, interior and engine bay
  10. **NO LONGER FOR SALE - SHE KEPT GIVING ME PUPPY DOG EYES** here goes; after much consideration, i have decided to post in the for sale section. i have been threatening to sell for a while now, but will be sticking with supras, hopefully will be looking into having a manual rz facelift imported by jurgen early next year.e this decision was finalised whilst walking around tesco about half an hour ago, so please bare with the lack of images; more pictures will be added at the weekend if i get any interest. spec: 1993 rz automatic 145,000ish km - 90,000ish miles limited slip diff blitz nur spec r exhaust apexi power induction kit HKS sqv blow-off valve denso iridium IK24 plugs toyota front decat pipe envy rear decat clear indicators with LED's envy HID kit clear headlights retro fitted active front spoiler kit momo quick release steering wheel EL-GLO dials thor TSD + DSC (TSD currently disconnected due to temptation ) custom silver flip-paint dash panels pioneer 6-disc changer rear fog lamp integrated in clusters 18" RAYS ENG cerumo sport 5-spoke 2-piece split rims. fronts 235, rear 275 recent work carried out: engine oil always changed with silkolene pro-s every 6 months, oil filter with every oil change - last done 10/10/2009 auxhillery belt tensioner replaced on 20/05/2009 cambelt changed by QSD on 17/01/2009 apexi induction kit fitted on 10/02/2009 rear brake pads replaced 07/2009 new brake shim kits on all corners 07/2009 near side drive shaft and hub assembley replaced 08/2009 autobox fluid, diff fluid, and coolant changed 07/06/08 both rear shocks replaced 02/2009 i have a small bundle of receipts, and the original import documents good bits: as you may have noticed; my car isnt fitted with a FCD, or a boost controller so is running on stock pressure. this is one of the reasons why i bought the car, as i didnt want one that had had the b@&*$£ks wrung out of the turbos. the result is a good strong set of turbos, which pull hard all the way through their normal operating RPM. my car is very much loved, i even keep a spreadsheet displaying when i have done every little job, and also have reminders set-up when oil changes etc are due. i always allow, a warm-up/cool-down period in any circumstance. thers is not, nor has there been any blue smoke under boost either. marmite bits: it is MSB (moonstone/monkey-sh@t brown; i personally love this colour, it looks gorgeous in the sun, and the car was relaquered a couple of years back which has left it with a very nice finish. my car has also been de-spoilered; again, i personally love this look, and combined with the MSB it really gives the car an aston martin kind of look bad bits: my supra is now 17 years old (writing it down makes it look worse!), it has a couple of minor bodywork imperfections - the kind that nobody apart from you will notice. it has a bit of laquer peeling on the intercooler feed scoop, a tiny tiny rust bubble peering from around the top of the windscreen seal, a couple of tiny dings in the doors from di$&heads in carparks. the offside front suspension assembley started making a feint squeaking - possibly a shock or bush. the speedo gave up the ghost last week - more thank likely a dry-joint where the DSC was soldered in. the rear offside tyre is low on tread. my car is MOT'd until the end of february, and is taxed until the end of march. i think i have covered everything, bar the price - im looking for £5500 or very near offer thanks for reading, bit of an essay i know - im just off to figure out how to stick pictures on
  11. be open minded about the auto; alot of people are put off by autos, but the supra autobox is sweet as a nut. you mentioned you had a timescale in mind; if possible, try to find time to test drive an auto and a manual - there are cost implications involved pending on what transmission you want. you would more than likely pick up a tidier auto for the money youre looking at spending. another thing to consider is, what you would eventually like to do with your new supra. if you think that someday you would like to do away with the twins, and drop a single turbo in (and believe me, you will consider it at some point), then a manual would be the better option. what state of tune are you after? i specifically wanted a car which was mechanically stock, so that i knew it hadnt been masively abused at high boost - i then went BPU. one thing to bear in mind, and this is from my experience, other people may disagree. i have found supras to be a bit like strippers, you have to pay for the pleasure. be prepared to shell out on maintenance, especially if you buy an older car with higher mileage. but then replacing bits and bobs, and knowing that it has had things renewed is part of the fun happy hunting
  12. exactly what i was thinking - all mods need to be declared or you will find that you're driving without valid insurance good luck with the sale, seems a little expensive IMO for a converted n/a with no gearbox - but good luck anyway
  13. I definitely have off days with the supra - too many to mention. Recently considered selling up and buying an rx7, but to be honest, if I were to sell my supra I'd probably get something like an r32 golf. When I think about it, it annoys me that I cannot get our little girl's pram in, resulting in us going everywhere in my girlfirends car - sometimes I get pissed off the super stiff suspension - sometimes the fuel consumption pisses me off - I hate the fact that there is so much I want to do my car - sometimes the warm-up cool down annoys me, especially when I'm just popping out to the shops - it plays on my mind that my car is 16 years old and parts are failing....but all of these thought soon disperse when I get home from work and see him sat there in car park, and even more so when you flying through a long sweeping bend at ***mph. I could sell my car and buy a newer car, that doesn't need a respray, that doesn't need bit and bobs replacing, that I dont want to modify.... but then I'd get bored. Words by Pezzler Music by Lbm
  14. the covers look awesome! prices please mate! id rather wrap xmas tree lights around my original mirrors than use them ganador ones. thems is ugly
  15. exactly the position im in; my supra is just a toy, unfortunately im confined to a renault traffic for the majority of my day, so i need to have a special little something. in an ideal world, i'd have an rx7 for chucking around, a supra for showing off, and an r34 for doing the shopping. i cant bare to sell my car, i'd more than likely well up! im the guy that walks half a mile across tescos carpark just to ensure im parked far enough away for nobody to parks next to me and touch my car. we only have one parking space at home so i make my mrs park her car around the corner because my car needs to be in view! anyone else obsessive??
  16. i feel a trader application coming on - discount please
  17. you can drive my car 400yds if you like...if the rear tyres are bald when you get back you can replace them
  18. firstly, if you mount turn signals in your wing mirrors, could you do away with the indicators on the wings, and on the front bumper? are there any laws that make it a requirement for you to have more than one set of indicators? and secondly, has anyone attempted to retro-fit a turn signal assembly from a modern wing mirror into a supra mirror? am possibly thinking of going for a very stealthy look, doing away with the stock indicators would help
  19. in what sort of odd world would you agree to pay for part of the repair of a car that broke down after you driving it 400 yards? are you mental!
  20. i thought "football" was just a field full of fat yanks taking 3 hours to play a 1 hour game...i feel so ignorant
  21. the example that jurgen recently sold/has for sale, had a rebuild at his place, was fairly stock and would probably go fault free for an additional 50k. i believe he had it up for £6.5 which is an absolute bargain given the overall condition of the car. as for which is a better car; silly question in my opinion as they both have their qualities, i'd still maintain that the supra is a better road car - the rx7 is more of an agile little weekend weopon that you rape around. 4 years of supra ownership has just kinda got me feeling like i need a break, for a short while anyway. probably would have about £8000 to play with which opens up a few possibilities. i obviously want something quick, japanese, and special but.. scooby - hate them, too chavvy evo - as above skyline - only like the r34 gtr and theyre too pricey 300zx - too 80's, too ugly 200sx - although s15's are pretty...four pot mitsi gto - very plasticy looking - a bit don johnson nsx - unfortunately too pricey german cars in my price range dont really do it for me either...maybe i'll just stick with what i have! splash some cash on her, might relight my fire - similar to sending the mrs off for a boob job i guess!
