I had this for a few months, a ticking noise that increases frequency with speed, or with the window close - a rubbing/humming sound; overhauled the brakes, checked all the suspension bolt torques etc...
Turned out to be the driver side inner CV. It was fecked basically, I removed a couple of the allen bolts which secure it to the LSD, and they were caked in grease - a good sign that the CV is shagged
I managed to acquire a complete hub/driveshaft assembly from another member and replaced the lot, no more noises!
Take a couple of the allen bolts out and see if theyre all greasy, its more than likely what your problem is
If you do go down the route of replacing the whole assembly, as I did; good luck with breaking the bottom tie rod ball joint - it took 2 hammers, 1 scaffold pole, and 3 large men to split
