I'm selling my Supra Aerotop as it is not getting used as much as I intended when I first bought it. Its a silver JZ non turbo Aero-top, First registered in Japan on 1/9/94 and first registered in UK on 5/6/2007 by the garage that I bought it from on 14/7//2007. It had 99,000 Kilometres on it (61875 Miles) when bought and now has just turned to 70,000 Miles, 8K in two years! Since buying the car I have added UK suspension(springs and new shocks all round) in an effort to make it "smoother" on the road, and have also added a Carbing front strut brace. I also added 18" Stealth alloys(9" wide) which have 225/35-18 on front and 235/40-18 on the rear. The car also has a full META M99/M36T2 Thatcham 1 alarm which has the microwave cover for the inside with roof off. The rear fog light conversion has also been fitted where the inner brake lights double as fog lights. I replaced the centre exhausts with straight pipe(no silencers) and I also have a spare rear box available which will go with the car. The present set-up gives a nice rich tone to the exhaust without being "loud", a-la some of the big-bore kits. I have installed a Sony CDX-GT41OU which is a LW/MW/FM with a front mounted USB socket and a separate 3.5mm jack socket for an MP3 player and includes a remote. The disc player also plays MP3/WMA/ATRAC & AAC discs and with 50watts per channel it feeds into replacement Infinity rears and front speakers. Just after buying, I had the speedo converted by NCS Ltd in June 08 at 105,000 Kilometres & is verified by NCS at 65,780 miles at this date.(it now reads in MPH and has the full 180MPH speedo dial, rather than the stick-on converter kits). Lastly, the timing belt was changed out when I bought the car and is therefore good for many more miles. I am also selling the car with full maintenance and service manuals in three separate hard-back binders. Its MOT'd to June 2010(all previous MOTs available) and taxed to 31/5/2010. Lastly, the passenger door has a couple of very minor paint scratches and there is a minor dent at the top of the rear offside wheel-arch, not really noticeable. The car is presently on a private plate and will be sold with its original number of M317UTF. Contact me on my mobile for more info, if required(07875 596123) or PM me if interested(I'm only on the board about twice a week at most). The car goes to the first offer of £3100 fixed price. Please PM me an email address if you want better photos. Rgds Georigg(George)

Ive just bought my wife a new car(Focus) and now need to sell her "old" one or sell my Supra if her Renault doesnt sell! Its a 2005(July) new model Dynamique with 33,100 miles. Its automatic in city grey and is "standard" in that it has all the toys as its an "all electric" car, other than the engine of course! 1.6 Litre VVT engine and rather than give you a full description here, I've attached a Word doc which gives a very full description of its specification. It has as standard alloys with 205 section tyres, a CD/radio, AC, electric operated handbrake, auto headlights, wipers and so on! Its taxed to January 2010, MOT'd to 19 Feb 2010 and has a full dealer service history I'm looking for £4000:00 for this car and am willing to deliver if a buyer is a long way away from Scotland. The body and interior is in very good condition with a couple of very minor supermarket scratches only and a couple of very moinor bumper dents-these can hardly be seen on the photos! Call me on mobile 07875 596123 or 07795 522018 or email me at [email protected]

If you are interested, I would be willing to part with my silver non turbo Aerotop for £4K Its a late 1994 import and is standard apart from 18" allows with 225 tyres on front & I think it is 245s on the rear. The seedo was converted to MPH by NCS with proof of mileage at time of conversion from KPH to MPH...approx £120 for the conversion...not the cheap Ebay kits! It has a front Carbing alloy stiffener bar fitted, also has a Sony MP3/USB/CD player fitted along with new front and rear speakers to handle the 50Watts per channel and has the back lights modded to include rear fogs & Xenon light bulbs to front fogs and dip beam. Suspension was also changed to UK spec(new shocks and springs all round) to give a less bouncy ride than standard Jspecs. The car has done approx 68K miles and is proveable as genuine. Slight paint scratches on nearside door and an offside rear arch "crease" not deep, but noticeable, thanks to a numpty who did not know how to reverse their car out of a supermarket car park. Car is taxed and MOTd and in all other respects is in very good condition. If this is of interest, put a PM to me with your email address & I will send you photos. Rgds George

Hi Mark, I'm looking for a drivers door mirror, folding type......mine is "lazy" and only closes & opens half way. Appreciate if you will advise a cost please. if you will split the mirror from the door that is!! Regards, George

You can also get the conversion done at NCS who are in Kegworth Derb. Give them a call on 01509 670 707 and explain exactly what you need done. They supplied my converter for KPH to MPH and also changed the odo reading back from the KM reading to the equiv reading in miles........that cost £80. Keep well away from the Ebay spivs/Ill come to your door and do it for you types, they change odo readings by having the right software to inteface with the electronic speedos in modern cars, but they will not be able to "do" supras as the odo is separate from the speedo head, both of which take their signal from the speed pick-up at the gearbox. You can change the odo "KM" letters to MPH by a simple change to the wiring at the Odo(see the How to do section on the board, but to change the actual reading back to an equiv MPH figure, it is necessary to run the odo round through 99999 and then up to the equiv reading by feeding in a square wave signal to the unit . Both Thor and NCS do this conversion; not sure what Thor charges though. Rgds George

My drivers door mirror is "lazy" when it folds, the motor appears to work OK in both directions, but it does not fully fold "in" or "out", stopping about half-way, but if you then "help" it to close/open it moves freely to the full open or closed position. Then next time the ignition is switched on the motor operates to close/open it fully. Has anyone had this problem and is there a quick fix, other than replacement? Much appreciate any (helpful) comments, georigg Late 94 Aerotop "Only the brave go topless in Scotland"

I'm withdrawing my car for the moment, Ive had a look at the SLK, had a drive in it and I was NOT impressed! I think think the car was an import, its suspension was actually harder than the Supra and the seating was not firm, it was solid....like sitting on a block of wood!........ouch!!!! So the Supra stays! Rgds George

Hi Gordon, Never had a problem before, and Ive had both numbers for a few years now and a number of car changes, including two other imports.............always got the original number back at change time. As Ive just seen another car I want, ( an SLK) I'm willing to haggle if anyone is interested, but thinks my price is too high. Rgds George

I'm having to sell my Supra Aerotop as it is just not getting used as my wife is registered disabled and cannot get in and out of the car, so it sits in the drive while we use her car! First registered in Japan on 1/9/94 and first registered in UK on 5/6/2007, its a silver Aerotop JZ non-Turbo model. The car is in excellent condition, apart from a slight dent on the rear wheel arch courtesy of an errant parking attempt by a 4x4 in Morrisons car park(may be visible in the photos) and the usual minor scratches etc which come from normal driving/parking in UK). Inside, the car is in excellent condition, no damage to seats etc.. Since buying the car I have added UK suspension(springs and new shocks all round) in an effort to make it "smoother" on the road, and have also added a Carbing front strut brace, which is the recommended minimum for the Aero to remove or minimise scuttle shake with the roof off. I also added 18" Stealth alloys(9" wide) which have 225/35-18 on front and 235/40-18 on the rear. The car also has a full META M99/M36T2 Thatcham 1 alarm fitted which covers the interior when the roof is off as well as being sensitive enough that just touching the car sets off the alarm. I have also installed the recommended rear fog light conversion where the inner brake lights double as fog lights(see photos). I replaced the centre exausts with straight pipe(no silencers) and I also have a spare rear box available which will go with the car. The present set-up gives a nice rich tone to the exhaust without being "loud", a-la some of the big-bore kits. Lastly I have installed a Sony CDX-GT41OU which is a LW/MW/FM with a front mounted USB socket and a separate 3.5mm jack socket for an MP3 player. The disc player also plays MP3/WMA/ATRAC & AAC discs and with 50watts per channel it feeds into replacement Infinity rears and front speakers. Just after buying, I had the speedo converted by NCS Ltd (it now reads in MPH and has the full 180MPH speedo dial, rather than the stick-on converter kits). The Mileage at conversion has been verified in writing at 65,780 miles and now 2 years later at 68,880 miles, it can be seen it has been very rarely used. Lastly, the timing belt was changed out when I bought the car and is therefore good for many more miles. I am also selling the car with a full maintenance and service manuals which provide both electrical diagrams and full servicing information. These are in three separate manuals, the first comprising the general information which is on the Supra board, the second giving the electrical diagrams and the third covering all mechanical work. I paid £4700 for this car in June 2007(receipt available) and have spent over another £1000 on the wheels & tyres, the strut brace and the tax which has just been renewed for one year. The MOT will be done in the next two days, due on 4 June(OoPs I forgot about it!!!!). I'm therefore looking for £4700 for the car, which I think is a reasonable price, given the additional items fitted. I would be willing to deliver the car anywhere in UK and will cover 50% of my return fare(train) to any seller south of Hardrians Wall (England to you & me). Last point.....the private number is not for sale, unless someone wants to offer me about another £10000 for both numbers prrsently on wifes/my car!! The Original number is M317UTF. Contact me on my mobile for more info, if required(07875 596123) or PM me if interested. I will sell to the first person meeting my price or coming near to it! Rgds Georigg(George)

Looks like I wont make it; my young (married) cousin has just dropped a sprog and is having it christened that week-end, so it means a trip down south for the christening. Hope the sun shines for the rest of you who get there! Rgds George

Anyone purchased a brand new complete cylinder head
georigg replied to Fearless's topic in mkiv Technical
Hi Fearless, Cant say about Toyota, but I did buy a complete head a couple of years ago from BMW which was complete with all seals, valves camshafts etc. If your buying with valves supplied in the head, you can expect the seals to be fitte as well........dosnt make much sense to fit valves but not fit the seals when your buying the whole thing. Only thing to watch is where they offer individual component prices for all the parts, ie but a compete head should come, "complete". Rgds George -
Hi CSA, Not sure what your problem may be but trust you are "turning the engine over" without the spark plugs in? If you take them out then the engine will not be pressurising up each cylinder and putting a load on your new big end bearings. Also, after 7 minutes on the starter if you have no oil getting to the big ends you are very close to damaging them again!............especially if you left the plugs in! Did you do the rebuild or did someone else? If someone else, get in touch with them pronto - you have a problem! If you did it yourself are you confident you assembled the oil pan oil pick up pipe which delivers oil to the pump? ......located on the front of the crank. You need to stop and think through everything you did during the re-assembly and if you cant think of anything...........then another strip-down is on the cards..........at least taking off the sump and checking the whole oil route etc, etc., sump to pump pump to gallery etc. Best of luck! George
