  1. Stunning car and close by. Tried my luck but the bid sadly didn't cut it
  2. Got the followup with the consultant next week and it's one of the things i am going to ask. Apart from being overweight i was said to be otherwise perfectly healthy. I got sent to BUPA through work as the police have a private deal with them for occupational health stuff and one of the docs there said it could have been down to dehydration which could add up as i was floored for a day or so with the usual case of diarrohea from being in Egypt but made sure i had sank plenty of water and hardly touched any booze on the trip itself after that. Other thing is family history of clots but i don't think there is anything immediate on either of my parents' side. Other thing i meant to add is make sure you have health insurance all documented and sorted for taking with you. Luckily enough (if you could call it lucky!) is that it happened on Egypt>Glasgow coming home at the end of my holiday, if it occurred on the outbound flight and i came down with that over there i dread to even think what might have happened:taped:
  3. Thanks guys. Scott - still getting my INR blood level checked every fortnight and it's ok thankfully, hopefully off warfarin after the six months as it is a bit of a pain. Alcohol is basically been a no-go as with the blood already thinned before i drink i ended up with absolutely stinking hangovers akin to my younger days from justa quiet night in and three or four tinnies....horrible. And the doctors tried to scare me off with horror stories about people getting pissed on nights out, getting a smack and not noticing due to being sloshed and then dying due to internal bleeding with the blood being thin ! The whole ago thing spooked me too, everybody i speak too knows "an uncle" or "a friend of my dads" who's had the same thing happen or is on the warfarin but never anyone my age. One plus side is i have enough 50mg tramadol pills stocked up to get a horse high :thanku:
  4. Arrived back from Egypt at the end of June and after getting off the plan felt like i had a calf strain similar to playing football. A day or so later it was at the stage where i was struggling to walk without excruciating pain. Went into my local A + E and was referred to attend for an ultra sound scan on the calf the next day to determine if had contracted deep vein thrombosis on the calf. This came back all clear and i was given the thumbs up by the doctor and nurse saying there was no clot which i thought was very odd as i was in real pain and could not put full weight on my left leg. A couple of days later i started getting shooting pains across the front left of my chest which progressively got worse as i breathed in or out. Back into hospital i went, ended up being kept overnight and following a heart scan, ECG and chest x-ray all coming back as negative i was taken for a precautionary CT scan and told i had contracted multiple blood clots in my lungs - the initial DVT was missed as it had broken off and travelled round my body - which were causing this pulmonary embolism which blocked the main arteries into my lungs. Ended up spending five days in hospital and now on drugs to thin my blood potentially for the rest of my days. I got a fair bit of a fright - mainly caused by not moving or getting up for a pee on a 5+ hour flight back from Sharm El Sheikh. It's now three months on and i've just started back at work. Still get pain and absolutely puffed out knackered after doing just an easy day on reduced hours and slowly trying to build back up to something like full fitness. So if you are going on any kind of flight make sure you and your family/friends keep moving about and don't sit on your bum for the duration; don't be naive and think you'll be ok as i'm only 26, took the same attitude and according to the consultant was very, very close to being a goner.
  5. +1 for me too, depending on date/location.
  6. Thats the car back and looking a lot better (touch wood it doesn't happen again) also very kindly touched up a wee nick in the drivers side mirror which i hadn't even noticed myself.
  7. Guy who's done work on the supra before has said he'll respray the door and sill and tidy up another couple of small blemishes for £200 cash, thats cracking is it not?
  8. This has got my head spinning now. New chap moved in next door a couple of months ago. He has has own business and works van................painter and decorater.
  9. Sorry i added a closer up picture below. I thought a scraper at first? It's literally right through to the base layer metal. The body shop and my neighbor thought it was a corrosive liquid the way the paint has peeled off and just kind of dribbled away onto the sill? But i didn't think a liquid would burn all the way through to the metal the way the picture shows.
  10. Went out to my car last night to head off to the Scotland game only to be greeted by this lovely sight http://j.imagehost.org/0898/supra2.jpg http://i.imagehost.org/0331/supra.jpg What fucking pleasure does anyone get out of doing this to someones car? Absolute scumbags of the highest order. At first i thought it was done by a chisel or something similar but looking for closely it looks like three drops / blobs of some corrosive liquid the way it sort of thins out as it goes lower before almost dribbling onto the sill.
  11. A LOT more interesting that it sounds, very neatly done http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=tippexperience&annotation_id=annotation_820885&feature=iv
  12. UK and JDM non turbos are the same car pretty much mechanically, only real difference were cosmetic options like air con, front fogs, leather interior, better speaker, etc on the UK models. Everything else should be the same. So if it's an N/A jspec he has then anything UK bits should be fine and vice versa.
  13. Don't get a GTO, you'll regret it.......
  14. That stubbed AK47 in the first set of pictures is stunning.
  15. Nice car and price, if it was a manual i might have gobbled it up as a run around for the Mrs'
  16. Crikey this has created a monster lol - was just an innocent and honest question ! Is that agreed on, or not? EDIT: Found this whilst looking around on the subject - it's a Toyota sales brochure from 1998 - although i cannot understand Japanese it would look like it backs up the theory and post i quoted from AlexM that the N/A's stuck with the old style engine with a few upgrades whilst the TT's got the VVTi in the Japanese market ?
  17. +1 Glass half full mentality but it could have been worse, you know where the car came from and plenty sources to back up all the £££ and work it had done on it. Could be a lot worse if you'd bought it off Ebay or something and all you had was a mobile number from the seller etc which permanently switched off.
  18. As it says above, just a question i had really. I've read that in late 1997 most of the engines moved onto the VVTi setup and i've seen a few of them, albeit rarer, come up for sale now and again but it's almost exclusively been TT's. So i was wondering if there is such a thing as a 1997/8 onwards N/A VVTi engine? Reason i am asking is i saw this for sale: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250640284752 From the picture the engine looks the same as earlier models ?? Realise it could be wrongly registered as 1999 by the DVLA when in fact it's a
  19. Toyota were something daft like £125 + VAT if i recall correctly, which was bad enough before i realised i needed two for the N/A as i think one is before the cat and one after. I managed to get two from Keron try him before wasting your dosh on Toyota.
  20. Just thought i would post this as i'd been humming and hawwing over the last couple of months regarding this. Running a completely standard N/A auto setup other than an aftermarket air filter and my fuel economy has been getting poorer since i put the Supra back on the road after the harsh winter we had. Initially thought it was a combination of fuel prices hiking up but i'd started being a bit more methodical and nothing down how much juice i was putting in and resetting my counter each time i filled up. Was getting to the stage where i was down to around 80-ish miles off £20 and you could see it was over fuelling whilst standing behind the car even if it was warmed up to normal temp sitting at idle and getting a very potent whiff of the fumes. Got the car serviced yesterday and decided to swap out the o2 sensors on her whilst i was at it (thanks to Keron for those). Made sure she only had enough petrol to get her to the garage, took her for a run after it and put in another £20 and after a spirited motorway drive back to my flat then another couple of trips on slower rural roads to the golf course and back i'm sitting at around 120 miles on the clock and not even hitting the orange warning light yet. That is one hell of a difference to be fair. Wish i had acted earlier now !! I know this aint a shoe-in fix for the over fuelling / poor economy but it definitely is worth considering sooner rather than later if having similar problems especially the way petrol prices are going.
  21. Even as a Scotsman i want England to do reasonably well this year. I'm astonished that Ashley Young is nowhere to be seen yet Walcott and Wright-Phillips both make it. Think three goalkeepers will all go, even with the prospect of a suspension or injury being a very small one it's still too big a chance to risk taking two. Baines or Warnock will be there to cover Cole so it's a toss of a coin over which one will get the chop. Personally i'd have Warnock over Baines every time as he's a better defender but would admit Baines gives more going forward. Dawson, Upson (if King's fitness holds up), Baines. Thats three; other four in midfield as i think all five forwards will all go. Huddlestone, Lennon, Wright Phillips and Parker to miss out.
  22. Got sent this this morning: http://j.imagehost.org/0089/hmrc.jpg Very well presented except for the URL pointing a totally naff website and not having any personalised address in the 'To' field of the email. Very sneaky and cleverly timed with so many people currently in dispute over their tax codes at this time of year. Be vigilant !
  23. Looking for some assistance if possible regarding this. Boss is heading off on maternity leave for 10 months in a few weeks. Temporary secondment has opened up for her post recently for internal applications. Six of my colleagues went for it with interviews all done in one day, however one of them is currently abroad on holiday and was penciled in for an interview when they return. Interviews were done on Monday for the remaining five people however today it was announced that they've decided who's got it and officially offered them the post. This obviously leaves #6 strung up high and dry without getting an interview they were scheduled to attend and a nasty surprise when they return. Apparently they management "couldn't afford to hang around and had to make a quick decision". Can this be challenged and is it legal ?
  24. SKY paid a small fortune for the rights from HBO hence it being on the premium channel(s). I agree though, a cheap shot from SKY !
