  1. sorry boys i feel like such a fail with this, i was really enjoying this project and had got as far as mounting the linkage on the cam cover and begining to get the plenum built (i even bought an AC tig) then my faltering marriage really hit the skids, as i'm sure you can guess its all a rather low priority at the moment, i dont know if i am even going to be able to keep the car at the moment as its potentialy a deposit on a new house
  2. the real trick is not to get it there in the first place, i use similar to these http://www.polyco.co.uk/industrial/displayproduct.asp?q=3&c=5 tight fitting, good cut protection and good enough for all general spannering do you people realise the long term effects of exposure to oil or washing your hands in petrol or thinners
  3. right with you on that one mate, just stick it in D although sometimes i put in N and for a rare treat R , really cant see the point of having an auto and pretending to drive it like a manual
  4. you could get a piece fabricated from the manifold to the downpipe and stick an air filter on the plenum, seems a bit bizare but the car would run fine, it would hardly look stock though
  5. know what your saying Jay, i have worked in engineering all my life and although obviously i have not tested said ally crash bar you get a "feel" for the materials, the one i made was 3/8" angle and its the angle that gives the strength, you could hang a battle ship off it its that strong, i feel happy with it from my understanding of materials but if someone popped up tommorow and told me its 5 times weaker than the stock item i would quite happily take it off, throw it in the bin and put the stock one back on lets be honest mate we dont have these cars to "drive like miss daisy" and sometimes they get driven hard, there are ways to make the cars lighter but i think at some stage a line has to be drawn, for instance would you remove the side impact protection from the doors, there will probably be people out there who have removed the rear impact bar but i for one strive to make my car safer not the other way round
  6. for a built auto its got to be an emanage ultimate every time, no aftermarket ecu can control the box as well as god intended it to be, with Mr T's stock ecu
  7. now your asking mate, from memory i think its double jointed arm up in the inner wing from inside the car time
  8. weight sounds about right Jay, the front ally thing is like tinfoil mate it provides no serious impact protection, it will provide chassis leg, radiator etc protection in a low speed shunt, in a big head on it will be vapourised, i'm as keen as the next man on weight removal Jay but driving the car on the road with no realistic rear impact protection for the fuel tank would bring me out in a cold sweat, i know its heavy but i really would think hard before running with nothing, this is my ally one i made, it saved a few kilos from memory and used the stock bolt locations
  9. i would be carefull with this mate, i took mine off and replaced it with a section of BIG ally angle, the bar provides protection for the fuel tank in the event of a rear end, i think i would feel uncomfortable driving a car without one as it is a primary safety device, it doesnt weigh a ton for nothing, it probably does a secondary function of holding the chassis legs rigid as well
  10. bit of a resurection but after having a bit of a moment t'other day with an back tyre that only had 10 psi in, some prior warning of my impending doom would be good, how have these units been now after a while
  11. the place to really look would be on sf in the states, there may be people over there who do shift the hell out of them and have had no problems

What BL meant was stick it in D, i think the line pressures in the box when you shift in manu are different which can kncker the BL, i know this doesnt help you much but this is exactly the reason i will not exceed 600hp and continue to run a relatively small single turbo on an auto, even with something like a ye' olde TH400 box you will still run into all these issues with a high stall, i use an old Mitsubish Gallant as a daily driver, might be a solution mate
  13. BL do not recomend their boxs are shifted manualy they should be shifted in auto, SP used to do a box that was the other way round
  14. sorry James did'nt quite read your post properly the first time, i think you problem is the spec, at over 700hp i think there in lies your problem, i would have gone manual runing that power mate, how about running a 3200rpm rather than a stock, i find it fine round toon
  15. totally agree, and Dude knows his stuff with powerfull autos, when i first went single i was a little under whelmed as it was not as quick off the mark as the stock ceramic twins and definately had lag, fitting the the high stall completetly transformed the car from a lagtastic poser into a traffic light drag car, at 500hp with a 3200rpm high stall nothing on four wheels has beat me yet off the mark, the car is also quicker when flooring it at speed for me the high stall is in my top 3 mods i have done to the car, they work just as well on a stock box as they do on a built box, what size stall do you have
  16. it is a hell of a lot of work and if your paying someone else probably not worth the gains, mine are on hold at the moment as i'm busy divorcing my wife
  17. i would say that the very modest power increase of about 10 hp you get from this cam the stock injectors would be able to cope, you really would have to get a dyno run to make sure the fueling is ok, an old signal fudger like an SAFC would be ideal for this basic mod
  18. not black and non stock bumper, but heres mine, if i was going to do it again i would look at a hybrid of some of the JGTC stuff some of the bonnets on those cars look superb, i find all the TRD types (mine included) a bit done to death as they're all variations of basically the same theme

  22. Just a word on the Arnout version after contacting him about a year ago it was no chance unless i wanted about 20, he wasn't interested in ones and twos, after that the second best deal in town is the Treadstone one which is a copy of the old Turbonetics one but with a bigger wastegate area
  23. couldn't agree more, all that time and effort Mr T spent on the sequential system, if you look at a schematic of the system its a work of art, instant boost from around 1800 rpm and then people bypass the system "cos it sounds good"
