Swampy, for sure, your obviously a better driver than me. Do yourself a favour though, report the holes in your area so that others less fortunate don't suffer.

Thanks Steve, can't tell you how gutted we are, Ryan's been consoling himself looking at pictures of Llandow and Santa Pod. Who knows, maybe we'll end up with another Supe, never say never. We'll make the effort to get to an event either way, maybe my lad will lend us his Mustang!

Thanks for advice on claiming. The assessor from Direct Line was very reasonable in the end and I suppose I should be satisfied, albeit it that we have still lost a hell of a lot in terms of whats spent but then we all go down that route with that in mind. The key thing was that every single bit of work whether it was cosmetic or mechanical was declared on the insurance which certainly effected the final valuation. The only down side was that when you declare the modifications it bumps up the excess but if you don't want to lose out I would urge everyone to make sure mods are declared and appear on the schedule of insurance. The car is now in the hands of Direct Line and released to the salvage company, I dare say it may well appear somewhere in the future. The comment about the danger to bikers is a very valid one. Direct Line have appointed a solicitor to act on my behalf, covered by legal insurance on the policy so we will see how things develop.

Fair bit of damage underneath and on front end. They did offer to sell me it back but to be honest it would have cost too much and without any real mechanical know how I was concerned it would just lie on the driveway. Can't tell you how gutted I was having to walk away from it knowing it was going to salvage.
  5. Hi there, kept a bit quiet for a few weeks but just learnt that the car is a total insurance write off following a crash on Easter Monday. As you can imagine we (me and Ryan) are absolutely gutted given all the love and money we have put into it. We were driving down a country lane at about 45mph when we hit a pothole/cavern on a corner which measured 4ft long, 2 foot wide and 8 inches deep which threw the car onto a grass verge and into a group of small trees and bushes, it wasn't possible to avoid it because a van was travelling in the opposite direction. We have put in a claim to Council and can only cross our fingers. The internet has mixed reports on successful claims depending on the circumstances. We have plenty of photo's and a police report. Police were pretty decent and parked over the hole until road maintenance came and filled it, albeit a bit late! We have looked at whether we buy another Supra but I don't feel I want to go down that road again (no puns please). We would still like to stay in the club and attend events in whatever we end up with. Always fancied an Alpina B3.3 which might be fun. Hope to still see you at future events. Steve
  6. Hi there, exchanged waves yesterday before you turned off at roundabout. Numb nuts here missed my turning following you!
  7. Hi mate, good to see you yesterday. Felt sorry for the bloke in the 328, all noise and no grunt. We had just left Silverstone after a really good weekends American Le Man Series racing. We had just seen another Supe just ahead of you, silver with a GT wing Greddy sticker on the back Reg OIL----. Unfortunately we had to stop at the services so couldn't play, you sounded nice as you pulled off. The kit is JDL, not everyones cup of tea but we like it.
  8. I researched this as an alternative to respray. I got to see a job being done on a Lambo at JTS back in June by the same company I'de been in contact with. The attraction was the versatility of vinyl and the ability to incorporate photo images as graphics. To be honest, I was disappointed with the finish. I guess if your going for the matt look then it would be okay, their CF lookeylikey was quite nice but the gloss finish was a bit dull, I would have missed that deep shine. I was trying to cover a hairline crack but as the vinyl is such a tight fit it shows up any imperfections underneath so you would still need to do some prep first. On balance the price is comparable to a respray as to its durability, take a look at any track car with vinyl graphics, after a couple of races on circuit, all the stone/rubber thrown up takes its toll.

    dont need a tt?

I started with a stock Aerotop NA, then put a JDL kit on. Some days I love it, others I'm not convinced. As for NA v TT just wait for all the TT owners to chirp up later. Day to day I think the NA has ample power especially as mine is a daily drive, that said never owned or driven a TT or single. I did the Llandow track day last year and had a great time and didn't leave feeling I wanted a TT however, last two years I've done Supra Pod and have left feeling like a whipped dog. I always have to face the constant barrage of when are we getting a TT from my lad. I have no doubt that if I drove a TT I would want to change but there is absolutely no way I would let the NA go for the silly money now being offered, I'de rather stick it on the drive until my lad can afford to insure it (okay so he's only 13) Hope you make a decision your happy with.
  12. Not bad, couple of hundred cars, all makes and sizes, some weirder than others. Forgot my camera but plenty of photo's on their website. Favorite had to be a 3.0 CSL BMW and a 1980s M3 in really nice nick. Would be a good venue for a club meet. Good food and just £2 for parking and you get free entry to the RAF museum and Cold War exhibition so somewhere for the misses and kids to walk around. Will definately go again.
  13. Just heard about this. Starts at 8.30 on Sunday. Type in Midlands Breakfast Club in google for their forum, some nice cars on display, might be good for a future midlands club meet. I'll be going along Sunday and will let you know what its like.
  14. Just seen this, hope it comes off
  15. Steve, signed up and paid mate, hopefully a few NAs to play with.
  16. the new supra is the lexus lfa
  17. I have the same issue, hadn't noticed it a great deal until Bignum followed me down to JTS and commented on how the front end was bouncing. Teins were on the car when I bought it and CW serviced it last year and redid all the geo and didn't mention it so will get it looked at.
  18. Small matter of British Grand Prix, was there last year and in an NA and still caught up in the corners:p
  19. Lol, no mate still going to F1, these are going spare though. I've got the car back in the bodyshop again hopefully for the final time, how many times have I said that now, so wouldn't stick it back on track just yet, despite having a fab time last year.
  20. I have a couple of 3 day silver passes for this years F1 GP at Silverstone (possibly the last for some time) on 19/20/21 June. The passes are for one adult and one child, they include roaming stand access on the Friday and Saturday and allocated seating in the stands at Abbey on the Sunday. The passes include parking. These will be advertised on ebay, just wondered if anyone here would be interested? Looking for £380 which is the face value of the tickets
  21. Your cars already famous around Stourbridge mate! nice to see some positive coverage:D
  22. Couldn't get close for the crowds lol, my lad dragged me off to walk around the stands. I'll make a point of saying hello next time.
  23. Its not surprising that you couldn't get away from all your admirers once the bonnet was up, nice job
