  1. Hello guys and girls ! In an attempt to retain stock compression ratio I'll be trying to use a thicker head gasket Are there any recommendations for a metal gasket? Needs to be a 2jz gte gasket with 2mm thickness however once my head is checked I'll find out if it will have any material removed and work out gasket thickness to retain the 8:57:1 ratio Any options? Or experience with gaskets you guys can advise on?
  2. Hello !! Does the oem 2jzgte Toyota head gasket only come in one thickness? Do Toyota make other thicknesses ? Can't find much info online about genuine Toyota bits. Most are dead links now. I'll be after a 2mm thick one and have seen a metal hks one for £450 ish on whif bits
  3. Is the block available? Complete with crank, pistons etc? If so please pm me as I may not notice a reply on here.
  4. that almost looks identical to Aberdeen beach! lovely car
  5. a faulty positive crankcase vent system could also cause similar issues, maybe a blocked pcv valve, maybe blocked hoses etc
  6. if you delete the idle control valve on the stock ecu, it will struggle to start/won't idle and constantly cut out if you run an aftermarket ecu which you say you are, that will take it's reading/control somewhere else as I know that with the haltech's you don't need the IACV and they get removed/blocked I was going to remove the coolant lines from mine and bypass them to clean it up a little and get rid of more unnecessary pipework
  7. crank sensor is the main one to check here, I'd be checking resistance and making sure it's within' tolerance of the factory spec without a signal from the crank sensor the ecu won't know when to send spark, you may also find (not 100% sure if a 2j is the same as a 1j) but one of the two cam sensor's may have an issue I had broken wiring on my rear cam sensor plug as the heat generated in that small space over the years made the wire go hard and snap, I was not getting fuel because of this, someone told me one cam sensor does fuel, one does spark, so it's also maybe worth trying those
  8. this may sound odd but this is why you have yearly mot's, so things like this won't happen, surely your brake pipes were advised during the last mot test? as brake pipes don't just suddenly go from fine to rotten/splitting open within a year. they can sit rusty for years before splitting/bursting. I done one of the pipes on monsween's supra a few years ago, they are really simple on a supra and took half an hour ish. a simple flaring tool for £10 and a roll of pipe £7-8 plus a top up of fluid should do the trick, new nuts are an option too but if you're stuck you can use the old ones.
  9. does anyone know anything about putting the 1j head onto the 2jz bottom end?? is it a simple bolt up job? or does parts of the 1jz head need drilled out etc? something i've been wondering for a while now.... cheers.
  10. hi folks, is it possible to buy a 3.0 non turbo mkiv supra and fit a 1jz with the manual 3.0 na box?? i've not read up about them yet so i'm unsure, just wondering. also will a tt supra loom work with a 1jz engine? i'd suppose not since the tt supra 2jz will have vvt?? cheers

  14. jevansio i'd say its pretty good to be honest once it warms up. cheers rich i do love the way the s14a front end looks!! so anyone fancy a swap at the end of the year plus cash for a facelift TT6? lol

    hi guys

hi guys i'm new here. i currently drive a nissan s14a and hopefully at the end of this year/start of next shall be either selling it or swapping it plus cash for a facelift TT manual mkIV i know a few of the guys from aberdeen well, (hate event, mark, monsween) who all have supra's and hopefully i'll join them with my next car being one. here's my nissan. its almost full stage 1a just needs the horsahm dev chip however i've been offered nismo injectors so possibly going stage 2a now haha but will see what happens depends on the guys final price. its still to get new wheels and coilovers however i'm considering not bothering and just saving the money to put towards my desired supra!! dont get me wrong i absolutely love my s14a and its great fun yet a supra's just been my all time dream car since i was young. jonny.
  17. will read this guide tonight. will help me with buying a supra later this year hopefully. cheers.
