Car was never in a crash, you would see the repair if it was (as you said it would have to be a big shunt to do that) and I am sure the Supra Specialists/ mechanics would of asked me or commented.
I am not too sure if you can adjust the TRD strut but it was only a little off, we didnt try too hard to get it to fit , it was raining, dark and freezing out; I am sure with a little juggle it would fit. I might of made the mistake of putting one side on first; you might need to put the two sides down on the struts in tandem ,It is over five years ago but I do remember it was a very tight fit! But I was not too concerned about getting the struts to bolt up, but more concerned about bonnet clearence.
I had the strut bar sitting on the spark plug cover, I know it is suppose to be a few mm above but it highlighted suspected main issue; bonnet clearance. You might get away with a thinner bar, like one of the carbing strut braces
I have seen a few pictures of TRD cars with the TRD strut fitted , was always confused why the TRD website said it does not fit was just lucky enough to be able to try it before I bought one.
