  1. Toyota's 2JZ-GE/2JZ-GTE is a square engine, with a bore and stroke of 86mm When people forge the engine they generally hone the block out to a larger bore , but is it enough to cause the engine to be Oversquare? If the bore is larger than the stroke, the engine is considered to be oversquare. What are the implications?
  2. I was told the 1JZ had no shock absorber due to the heavy duty spring
  3. Ah ok , was told the spring in the 1jz tensioner was stronger , reason why a 1jz has no shock absorber I have have no experience of a 1jz so just took them at their word
  4. I am sure Chris Wilson will love this Anybody have any experience with this and advs, disadvs http://performancetrends.com/blog/?p=5 Oversquare vs undersquare referrs to the Bore/Stroke ratio of an engine. If the bore is larger than the stroke, the engine is considered to be oversquare. How much torque an engine can make is based on its cubic inches. Torque comes from how much air the engine caningest every intake stroke. The more the cubic inches, the more air it can take in every stroke. How much HP an engine can make is based on the total valve area. HP comes from the total air the engine can ingest per unit time, like every second. The intake valve it typically the largest restriction for air flow in an engine. Therefore, an engine with more intake valve area (total valves in the engine x valve area) can ingest more air than one with less valve area. Or, it can rev higher before it runs out of breath. Higher revs mean more HP.
  5. Hey Heard it was common practice to replace the 2jz TENSIONER ASSY with the more heavy duty 1jz unit and negate the need for the ABSORBER SUB-ASSY, BELT TENSIONER 16602-46010 I take it the Timing Belt Tensioner Bracket and Upper Shock Arm would be redundant too? Any pro's or cons?
  6. Got mine done Repo steps Make sure the window seats as far back against the wall of the door card (Pic one) ,Undo the 3 bolts on the regulator and push the window towards the rear of the car, loosely hand tighten bolts (Pic 2) Fully close the window, measure it is seated close to the rear quarter window compared to the opposite window , just use you finger to get a rough measurement (mine was sitting too far forward in the regulator ) With the window fully closed , close the door, the top of the window should be encapsulated by the rubber around the door If you window is seating too high it will crush the rubber , resulting in wind noise You need to adjust the bump stops , front and rear; to lower or higher your window. As a reference I used the opposite window , fully closed , with my finger I tried to guage how far the window was up into the rubber , gives you a good reference point to test the window is seating correctly Adjust the bump stops if you need to , mine was up too high crushing the rubber , some small adjustments and visual/finger comparisons to the opposite window , the rubber looks to be encapsulating the window as it should **my biggest error was not having the window seated correctly in the first place against the wall of the door card Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 -- Bump stop Adj
  7. Thanks! Any recommendations on a breaker bar to remove them , she will be in an axel stand on the deck so not ideal http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmdMobile?srch=breaker+&action=search&storeId=11101&catalogId=15551&langId=-1&mode=search
  8. What size are they 14 mm socket?
  9. In the last couple of weeks I have the door card off about 6 times now lol I have it down to less than 3 mins to get it off
  10. What does the nut adjust ? I have the glass sitting as low as possible in the regulator , and I was adjusting the bump stops at the top of the door Didn't notice an adjusting but at the bottom Thanks for the heads up ! hopefully will sort out mine
  11. Top of the morning Quick q , I have the trd bilstein oem setup, do these have rubber top mounts or what are the serviceable parts / bushes
  12. Be careful of borewash, oil contamination from overfueling removing the oil film on the cylinder wall, causing accelerated piston ring / cylinder bore wear.
  13. I handed over a deposit too , it is very normal, just to show you are serious about buying a car ; stops the time wasters Mine was bought off a forecourt , not yet advertised online; guys in japan where collecting another car at the time, advantages to giving a deposit If I was you I would look through the two links above and pick what you like and let Jurgen know , and go from there Good few Auction pages on facebook, notify you of nice examples coming up in auction, save you hassle of looking up auctions yourself https://www.facebook.com/JDMAuctionWatch?fref=ts https://www.facebook.com/Nagista?fref=ts
  14. Same with Volk Racing ( Rays Wheels) too Alex but they supplied am aluminium ring to fit 60.1 bore , but after all the $$$ they cost, I was expecting a correctly machined bore to 60.1 not 73.1 and a spigot ring
  15. Cool, I should have mine installed in Dec/Jan , if they arrive soon; sometimes the Black Friday stuff takes a month or 2 to arrive Might put mine off the road till Jan - March though
  16. That makes no sense , if your wheel is machined to the correct bore of your car , it is centred by the wheels hub , which is metal If you seen a lot of horrors with aluminium/steel spigot rings, something is seriously amiss with the wheel/nuts or incorrectly sized rings not matching your cars bore
  17. Yes it has a hub flance aka hub centric spacer
  18. Come on Chris , never hear a T51 , I would buy the Turbo just for the noise Bit like buying a 360 CS Stradale for the orchestra
  19. The spacers are 60.1 bore (Diameter of the hub flance), Supra hub is 60.1 bore the Spacers sit on the Supra's hub flance making them Hub centric while extending the hub by 5 mm and your new hub flance is the spacers 60.1 bore
