  1. I have to just slide my thoughts in here, I drive a RHD Supra in Sweden, which is a LHD country. I've had little to no problems at all... You get used to it in a second, things like tickets, toll boots, and drive thrus aren't that big of a deal, it takes what, one minute extra? Overtaking is of course an issue, but I haven't had any problems. Just wait a bit longer until you are 100% certain you can drive past. Have some patience (or always have a friend with you) and you'll be all good to go! Good luck!
  2. I'm sure of it too, one day... One day ^^. Haha, well, then I guess your Supe isn't of much use either .
  3. ... Ventilate my mind a bit. Story is: I bought my Supra from Paul (Whifbitz) about two months ago. Drove it home, loved it, and everything seemed perfect. In fact, everything was perfect, until one day I took the car out and first thing I did was jam my right foot down. This resulted in a nasty oil leak. After some searches and a bit of begging for help here and over at Swedish Supra forums, I got an idea of what was wrong, sent the car over to the local Toyota garage, and they fixed it (I would try to explain what was wrong but my english skills doesn't really allow me too ). Along with changing headlights, adjusting them and re-filling oils. All fine. I drove the car home, it was pissing down (we're having the worst summer ever here in Sweden) so I drove reeaaally slow. Day after that, I thought what the heck, I'll go out and see if the car is all right. It wasn't. When the second turbo spooled up the engine started to misfire (I didn't know that at the time, got told later on) and the revs went up and down. I was devastated, thinking of ways how to hide the bodys of the Toyota mechanics after I've let my fists show them how to violently re-shape human facial tissue. As usual, I went straight home and made a post here, PMd Paul and asked for help at the Swedish forums. Some advices richer I went back to the car and started to figure out how to work the good 'ol Apexi BC. Took me about five minutes to realize nothing was wrong, they (the mechanics) had just turned the boost level to max, around 1.5-1.6 bar. Those darn thoughts came back. I turned it back, tested the car, all good. Now, everything is in order, time for registration so I can finally drive the damned thing! Picked up the phone, some "You're number blablabla in line, please hold" later I booked a time. Two weeks later! What the heck, better than nothing I thought. Time went by, and as my registration was coming up I did my daily Supra forum reading to keep filling up my knowledge. Then, I read a thread over at the swedish forums, about the registration process. Sentences like "Oh car must be completely stock", "Whaaat, open air filter? Never!", "Did you get those extra papers from Toyota in Sweden, to add to your V5C?" appeared. Panic. One day left, and I'm not sure what to do. Do I take a chance, do I get another time, is there someone willing to lend the missing stock parts? There wasn't. Don't worry thou, you don't need those extra papers, you can just give them the reg number of another Supra, someone said. I booked another time, waited another week, and woooah, this time it's on! But no. You really do need those papers. Bummer. Booking #2 wasted. Then, out of nowhere (or well, out of the Swedish Supra forums actually) came a frienly soul who offered his help for a small sum of money. Apparently, his business is to find, import and register cars for people, or along those lines. Why didn't I know that? So, we arranged for me to take the car over to him, about one hour drive, then he works out everything and the car will be all set the day after, Swedish plates and all. Yesterday, I left the car with him, he had an impressive garage, 3-4 Supras, a Porsche, a Ferrari. Woah. This is looking good! Woke up today. Called him. Bad news. "There seems to be a problem with your V5C..." Some genious at the DVLA had apparently misread the JZA~ chassis number for J2A. The car was all ready to go, everything taken care of. Then this. Here's where I am now. I've emailed the DVLA, Paul has offered me to send the papers back, and the helpfull soul arranging the registration will also call around to some people. Still, I'm so down. The summer is passing by in no time (a shitty one but summer none the less), soon my vacation is out, and my Supra is just standing outside, being washed now and then. I'm sure this will be all worked out, but I can't help it, it just feels so damn typhical. Oh well, rant's over. If you read all this way, congratulations! Sorry for attempting a world record in post length, I guess on the other half I don't post as often as you . Thanks for a great forum! Cheers, Calle
  4. I see, thanks for the quick replies. Is it possible to swap right off or you have to alter anything? Also, I guess the ceramic turbos desintegrate faster than steel ones even if running on lower boost, or?
  5. Yea I thought I was alone too but a friend saw another car just like mine, same Veilside kit and everything. I told him he must be blind, cause there sure as hell ain't another Supra in Sweden with my extraordinary beautiful colour, found out I was wrong thou, but didn't admit yet ^^
  6. This will sound a bit funny perhaps, but what's the difference between twin and hybrid turbos? I worked out what single means, just the hybrid left .
  7. Mine's a j-spec... I hope it's storm blue then, sounds waaay cooler
  8. Is it an original Toyota colour?
  9. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same colour I have, also seen another Supe in Sweden with that one too. Sometimes it's blue, from different angels it turns purple, green, really light blue and so on and so forth. I love it, but many advice me to repaint it .
  10. All right here comes the pictures: http://www.carldelfin.com/bc/1.JPG http://www.carldelfin.com/bc/2.JPG http://www.carldelfin.com/bc/3.JPG Hope this helps, Paul hasn't answered yet! Cheers!
  11. The car is a j-spec manual TT, no decats, only mods is a Blitz BOV. K&N airfilter and the BC, and old Apexi AVC-R BC (I'll get photos up within 30 mins) I didn't try to switch it off yet, I was told not to touch it if I don't know what I'm doing, so I didn't... Thou if the car hasn't got any decats, and the BC can't bring boost down, just up, if I switch it off wouldn't it logically bring the car back to its original boost? Or does it do the opposite, bring it to maximum? Paul told me never to drive the car if the BC didn't power up when I started the engine.
  12. Heya, gah, just fixed my oil leak problem, now it's time for the next one . When I picked the car up the other day I drove slowly home from the garage as it was raining, never got above 2-3k rpm. The day after, I took her our for a lil test drive, and noticed that when the second turbo jumps in the revs start going up and down, the car twitches and doesn't want to pull like it should. I got a lil worried, and tried about 4-5 times. The last time I covered my BC with my hand to see the numbers, and I noticed I was doing about 1.2-1.3 bar, instead of 0.9 which it's set to do. Now I've had it in for headlight change and fixing of the oil leak, which was a lil thingy in the gearbox which measures the speed (hence my speedo dying). I dunno how sensitive the BCs are if you disconnect any wires and such... I also don't want to fiddle with it myself before I know how it works, Paul specifically warned me about that when I bought it . I've sent Paul a PM but he doesn't answer, so I'll give you lot a try too Edit: Forgot to add, it's an old version of Apexis AVC-R, I'll take a pic and upload asap.

    Supras common?

I drove a thousand miles home when I collected my car from Whifbitz, and didn't see another Supra for the entire way... I did, however, pass/meet over 50 police units heading for the G8 meeting .
  14. Great, thanks for the replies guys, will check it out . Paul installed a delimiter for me when I bought the car, don't know which kind thou, will PM and ask. You're invaluable!
  15. As I'm getting my oil problem looked after I thought I might aswell get my speedo fixed . Now, as stated in my other thread, the speedo just went dead after I entered the highway, no signs of it happening before. Just like that. Does this happen to have anything to do with the oil leak or am I just double unlucky? If so, is there any easy way for me to check the wireing, connectors or other things that might lead to this? I am taking the car to Toyota as soon as I can, but would be good to have a general idea of things first, as I don't want them to fook around too much with my car. Cheers!
  16. How much of a problem would you think it is? If you could, in a way that I with my limited languange capabilities and knowledge of engines/cars in general can understand, explain a bit what seems to be the problem, I'd be more than greatfull!
  17. Say what, I thought it was in everyones best interest to be blazing down the roads putting everything you pass on fire . But no, I'll have it trailered . I'll also have someone with a bit more knowledge than me take a look at it, I checked the engine oil level earlier and it looks like it hasn't lost anything... Hopefully, I will be back on the roads pretty soon .
  18. I went to Toyota this morning, and as usual they were like "Supra, what's that?". I got some answers on a Swedish Supra forum too, so I'll take all your suggestions and have the car taken to a friends garage and let him take a look at it. Somehow I don't trust the 60 year old guy over at Toyota... Thanks everyone, hopefully this will be sorted out and I don't have to work 250 hours next month too and live off water and nudles. Cheers!
  19. Which means...? Am I looking at £10 or £1000 in repair costs here? Any educated guess will do. AndyT, actually I've talked to my friends who drive mcs, they've checked the area, I did too, I wanted to see where the leaking started... Not much traces thou, good or bad... Oh well, I'll have the car taken to Toyota tomorrow and see what happens. Bummer, Paul just sent me the registration papers , and now this. Take for the help guys, feels good to have you behind me.
  20. I'll do a search then ^^. That's what I thought. Gah. You mean the pool under the car or the entire oilish area? I'd say maybe 1-2 mins for the drips on the asphalt and about 5-10 mins for the rest...
  21. To be honest, I tried, and failed I don't want to mess anything up (that's why I ripped out the stereo and dash board and now have a bunch of gizmos all over...). Anyways, would you think it's safe to drive it there or should I have it toed? Naybad, sorry, but my english vocabulary doesn't do that well with motor specific terms... What's a crank gasket?
  22. Cheers guys and girls, I'm in desperate need of advice here... Tomorrow I have a time booked at the local Toyota garage to change my headlights to eu-spec ones. Since I haven't driven my car in over a week, I took her out for a little ten minute drive to make sure she was all right. That wasn't the case apparently. After only a few kms, at a crossing, the car died. Nevermind I thought, she's probably just cold. I continiued to the highway to drive a 10 km strip. Halfway the speedo died... Darn, I thought, and turned back. When I reached the highway exit the red exclamation mark lights up. Also I noticed my oil pressure/temp gauges going up and down. Didn't take much notice on that since my boost gauge has faulty wireing and lives its own life, so thought that the other gauges might do the same thing. I drove back home, and noticed a lot of smoke coming from underneath. I took a look under the car and saw what looks like oil dripping down. I ran to get my camera and took some pictures: http://www.carldelfin.com/help/1.JPG http://www.carldelfin.com/help/2.JPG http://www.carldelfin.com/help/3.JPG http://www.carldelfin.com/help/4.JPG http://www.carldelfin.com/help/5.JPG Can you tell anything? Any help at all would be great... I'm really lost here. Would you think it's safe to drive the car to Toyota tomorrow morning? And perhaps let them take a look at it? I can't do anything else now, I've got work in 45 mins, and don't quit until tomorrow morning when I'm off to leave the car... Thanks!
  23. It was kinda awkward for the first ten minutes, when Paul told me the car was all ready to go I wasn't so sure that's what I wanted to hear . Thou I got used to it very quick, now it feels like I've done it for ages. The trip from Calais to Sweden was very plesant, from Calais to Eindhoven it was just a straight line, then some roadworks mixed things up a bit, took perhaps an extra hour to get back on route again. It's more or less just straight ahead, the only problems occured when we entered Germany, in the area around Duisburg. They have like one million exits and signs in the matter of just one hour of driving, so got a bit off course there too. All in all I think, including the wrong turns, missed exits and two hours of sleep, it took maybe 15 hours. I drove generally slower than most, around 120 km/h (75 mph) most of the way. Thanks thanks, feels great to be here! Cheers Ivan, I try my best
  24. Thanks everyone! Really feels nice to have her home and ooh, what a lovely trip it was, despite all the missed exits, enormous fuel consumption and lack of sleep, food and maps. This for sure was a trip I'll remember for quite a while I tell you that . If it wasn't for me having to work work work and work some more, I'd already have the movie edited, so will probably take a week or two to get it done. Anyways, as I said while waiting for the registration process I'm currenly doing a dash respray. I'll throw up a thread with some picures of that adventure too (believe me, it's an adventure for me, biggest job I've ever done to a car before was refilling engine oil ). Now I'll try to catch some sleep, thanks again guys, probably wouldn't have my car if it wasn't for this community!
  25. Yeah, we're in some kind of Supra frenzy over here at the moment . Don't think any rules has changed thou, same for every car. Perhaps we're just fed up with the BMWs, Audis, Benzs and Golfs and what not german/european car that's around every corner .
