  1. Wanted brake master cylinder with good seals to fit 94 N/A with ABS. Or if anyone has or knows where I can get a cheap refurb kit (04493-14160) then that should do. EDIT 24/08/2011: Now found. Cheers to those for the PMs
  2. Can any mods please remove the duplicate “to the floor” from the title.
  3. A short while a go I noticed that when coming to a sharp stop before a set of lights my brake pedal went to the floor and the Supe didn’t stop quite as fast as it usually did. Quite concerned I crawled the short distance home and started trying to diagnose the problem. Since then I have tried various things and read several postings on here. Listed below are some of the ones I have found useful. I thought I would post them on here as they might help someone else out some day if they stumble across this thread... Brake system manual http://www.turbosupras.com/pdfs/JZA80%20TSRM/BR.pdf Bench bleeding the master cylinder whilst still attached to the car http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?119753-Bleeding-master-cylinder&highlight=master+cylinder Bleeding brake issues and advice http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?237994-cant-bleed-my-brakes-WHY&highlight=bleed http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?169608-Bleeding-the-brake-system&highlight=brake http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?196487-Brake-Bleeding&highlight=clamp+brake Bleed nipple issues (don’t over tighten!) http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?250422-Brake-bleed-nipple-woes!&highlight=bleed New and old master cylinder innards compare http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?118304-Master-Cylinder&highlight=master+cylinder For my issue my first thought was seals in the master cylinder. I’d had the car several years and this brake issue happened overnight so I did not think it could be air in the system. No fluid was leaking either. I spoke to keron about a refurb brake master cylinder kit but they were getting on for about £100 from Toyota (part number 04493-14150). But luckily for me he had a used spare Master Cylinder which I took. Before fitting I bench bled the replacement master cylinder. Made sure there was no air left in it. Next bleed the callipers (with engine running as I have ABS). To bleed the callipers first I tried the 2 man method of pumping and then opening and closing bleed nipple. I was pretty sure I got all the air out. But no joy, the pedal still went to the floor. Next I purchased a one way valve bleed system off ebay (£4) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260826474018#ht_1098wt_1139 This works really well and makes bleeding a one man job. The only issue I found was that getting the rubber tube over the end of the nipple sometimes was a bit fiddly. But after this I still the pedal still went to the floor. I saw on here the post advising the “Gunsons Pressure Bleed Kit” at around £20 so got myself one of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001KTFIWA/ref=asc_df_B001KTFIWA1856065?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B001KTFIWA As mentioned the cap does not fit on a jsec NA reservoir. I had to fabricate and try and G-clamp a new cap on. After some trial and error I got this to work but it was a bit of a pain to do and also has the potential to spray, the not so paint friendly, brake fluid if you get it wrong. But even after that still the pedal goes easily to the floor The reservoir never went so low that air could have got back in the master cylinder. So after putting 3lts of fluid through the system I was pretty confident that there was no air in there (could there still be some in the ABS unit???) Still pretty sure there is no leak anywhere. Next I thought maybe it wasn’t the MC in the first place so took one of the pistons out from the original. Couldn’t see anything wrong with the seals but not really sure what I’m looking for. Below are a couple of pics if anyone else knows what to look for. www.photobucket.com/mkivMCpiston So when I get some spare time again I’ll give it another go. Next things to possibly try are: - Clamping brake lines. Tbh im not too sure if I have braided ones. I assume not. Anyone got any advise on this. Have not really found any info on this. - Stuck sliders in callipers. Could this really cause the brake pedal to go to the floor? - Possibly find some things to screw into and block off the two outlets on the master cylinder. If I can do this I should be able to prove whether the MC has a fault or not(??) - Someone has mentioned trying a vacuum bleed system. Maybe if there is still some air in there this would get it out. Does anyone have any advice on which to try first or any other things I may have missed? As per usually all comments/suggestions most welcome and thank you in advance for anyone that chips in
  4. Well i did see you guys are planning for a 9 setoff and a 10 arrival at pod. Google maps has this down as 1.5 hour journey. So I assumed you were planning on travelling a bit quicker than what Google thinks That’s why I picked 9:30 at Watford Gap. But 9:45 is fine by me. So me, ob1dude and anyone else setting off from Leicester Forest East can now meet a little later from 9 and set off around 9:15. If anyone is running late or wants to check where I am then they can give me (Mark) a call on 07850554862. I think the misses will be coming so she can answer if I’m driving.
  5. Yeah same here as heading from Loughborough. Maybe we could meet up at Leicester Forest East services and time the set off to meet the M6 lot somewhere. If you M6 guys are planning on going M1 and not A14 then Looking at: http://www.motorwayservices.info/list/roads ... Watford Gap just after M1 J17 looks a possible meeting point. So any of you M6 lot fancy a quick stop off at Watford Gap around 9:30? We should then be able to get to pod for around 10 which is a time that has already been mentioned on this thread. So for anyone that wants to meet up at Leicester Forest East I suggest we get there around 8:45 and plan to set off at 9. This should take us to Watford gap at 9:30 where we can meet M6 guys or anyone else that can get there. Then from that on to pod :) What does everyone think? Is the above plan and times any good? Can anyone think of any changes or improvements?
  6. Parked next to you in my new Silver spoilerless jspec Would have been good to bump into you to say hello but by the time I got out 15mins later you had already gone.
  7. Flew past me as I was joining at J23. Spent the next 2 junctions trying to catch you up but was stuck behind rush our lane hoggers and then had to exit at J21.

  11. Yep - I'm taking my N/A down. Fancy a race?
  12. Just signed up I’m running a stock(ish) N/A. Anyone else with a N/A fancy a match up? p.s I had a look but cannot see that this has been asked anywhere before... When I went earlier this year santapod were allowing 1 passenger in the cars. The passenger needed to bring their driving licence and pay an extra £10. See: http://www.rwyb.co.uk/ Section: “Now Take A Friend On The Quarter Mile!” Does anyone know if this is available for Suprapod and if so would this have to be purchased as extra on the day? I’m thinking about bringing the missus but she might get bored if she’s waiting on her own a lot.
  13. And it's up again: http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/2801829.htm This time they have put some effort into the advert and added on 2k to the price. Or could this be the original... ?
  14. It's up again in a new add http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2756981.htm
  15. I see the pics have now been added. Yeah bronze is a great colour. That’s what my current NA is. Ideally I was hoping to get a different colour to be honest. People will just think I’ve got a new set of alloys But it if all checks out I may go for it. Rob – Yeah if it’s not to far from you then please do go ahead and take a look. The info will be very useful for me or anyone else considering this one. As mentioned above the bonnet does seem to be slightly higher one the right site. Thanks to everyone who has replied
  16. So I have been keeping my eye out for a new Supe recently and looking at what’s been posted on pistonheads among other places. I’ve noticed that in around the last month or so there has been about 4 listed on private sales by a sam in Bedfordshire. This is a current example: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2749638.htm In his last few listings there has been pics. But there are none in this one. It reads like he’s selling on behalf of someone else: I did ring him a few weeks back regarding a UK speck he had listed which seemed pretty cheap. This one did have pictures up. I ended my interest when he told me it had 180,000 on the clock which was omitted from the listing. Also he mentioned viewing times would have to be during the day which again made it sound more like a business that a private sale As he’s flogging so many Supes I assume someone on here known of him. He may even be a member. But none of those cars have been listed in the classifieds on here. So has anyone been to see/buy one of his cars before and have any comments that could be useful for someone thinking about going to view one of his Supes? I’ve used the Search -> “sam Bedfordshire” but that has come up fruitless.
  17. Red Jspec - sainsburys foss park Caught a glimps of you parked up when i was out at lunch time
  18. Don't think it will be me. I've not been in east leak for over a year. I've seen the odd black Supe around this way from time to time. So i guess one of those times might have been you.
  19. I was running late for work and almost didn’t notice you queuing in traffic going the other way. Cheers for the flash
  20. Heard an engine roar and looked out my bedroom window and saw a white Supe with dark wheels pulling up to the uni roundabout on Epinal Way. You’re Supe’s looking and sounding great!
  21. Seen you the last two mornings whilst on the way to work. Your Supe’s looking good! Thanks for the waves.
  22. Recently I smashed the driver’s side skirt on my Supe. See pic: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1000107&l=523eb&id=591183224 As both skirts already had small cracks in them I decided to get some quotes to get them both repaired. I believe these are original OEM skirts I got a reasonable quote off one of the traders on here for repairing, spaying and fitting. But wanting to get a few more quotes I decided to visit a few local body shops. At the first one I went to the bloke initially started saying that some plastic can be welded and some can’t and he was not sure which type of plastic the skirts were made of. He then quoted me a good price for the repair which I thought was a bit surprising as he couldn’t tell if the plastic was weldable and that was the method he was going to use. This body shop did not get a great review from a friend who has been there before and was a small 2 man setup. I then visited a larger more professional body shop which has got a good reputation in the local area. The guy from there quite quickly came to the conclusion that the skirts were made from none weldable plastic and that if any weld job was performed on them then the crack may well re-shatter as soon as the skirt is put under any stress. He said there was no point quoting and I should try and source some replacements myself. So I’ve had conflicting reports on whether these can be repaired. I am reluctant to spend the money if the repair won’t last. I have searched the forum and found a couple of posts about skirt repairs but no real details. I’m interested to know if anyone else on here has either repaired skirts before or had theirs repaired? If so then what technique was used and has the repair lasted? Also does anyone one know if the plastic used to make original skirts is weldable? Any comments welcome
  23. Think I saw you again this Tuesday. If so the car’s black not silver. Think you went past so fast last time I didn’t get a good luck
