  1. I agree that there are better distros out there for a server than ubuntu desktop, but a jump from windows 2003 to debain or something is going to be a little hard.
  2. if you have a windows license and know how to use it then why not just rebuild it? Personally id try and get ESXi on there and then maybe run both windows and linux. Ubunutu is nice although lately I have found suse to be quite interesting too.

  4. Looks like the Silkolene SILKTRAN SYN 5 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil suggested for use in a LSD has recently been re-branded as Fuchs Titan Race Syn 5 75w-90.

  6. Does it work on the internal button for locking the doors?
  7. I would check to see if an error code has been logged.
  8. Yes I am married but fortunately my wife doesn't tend to go far in heels now that we have a little one to contend with. My post above is more of an observation of human behaviour than anything else. This thread made me recall an instance when I was driving in Redhill and stopped at a red light while a lady struggled across the crossing with a huge suitcase to the station. The lights started to flash orange and went green before she made it to the other side of the road and the guy behind me who I assume must have been blind or stupid started to sound his horn repeatedly and gesture at me to move on despite the fact that to do so I would have to run the lady over or cross the lane into oncoming traffic. After maybe 5 seconds of his abuse I gestured toward the struggling lady and when he continued sounding his horn I turned round and gave him the finger. When she finally cleared the crossing and I was able to move on the driver behind followed me for maybe 2-3 miles and kept sounding his horn and flashing. At no point was anything worse then a delay to his journey occurring yet he seemed to fly into this rage, would he get this mad while queuing in the post office?
  9. I know what you are saying but if someone doesn't look where they walk could they not knock someone over and cause an injury? Yes the stakes are higher in cars and the result of a collision is often far far worse but people make mistakes. The only thing we can do is anticipate that people will do stupid things and take mitigating action.
  10. Oh and people who follow too close are my pet hate. I can forgive most other things, if someone is going slow or brakes for every minor thing they are just scared or not confident in a car, at worst they just waste a bit of your time. I can even forgive middle lane hoggers and they can be used for fun by simply overtaking them as normal, then pulling in front and then into the left lane before slowing down and repeating. I have managed to do this 5 times in a row before they got the idea.
  11. I have always found it amazing how when in a car people become enraged by (relatively speaking) the most minor of transgressions. Picture the scene: You are walking down an aisle in a shop and someone bends down to pick up an item, then as they stand up and move on they nearly walk in to you. you might say "Oh sorry mate." or "excuse me." and you walk on. In a car: someone performs a manoeuvre you were not expecting as they didn't indicate. Then you sound the horn at them and gesticulate to convey the rage you are feeling followed by them doing much the same and if conditions are right a physical fight ensues. I am by no means saying any anger is not justified when a road user behaves inappropriately, only that people just seem to get ten times madder when a car is involved.
  12. The couple of times I've had it is at or just after the transition point when turbo 2 comes in. It's only ever occurred on part throttle , there is a noticeable thud/bang and the triangle flashes up for a second or so before turning off. Must be the colder air.
  13. A few weeks ago I went to jump in the car and grab some bits from the shops but on attempting to start the car.. nothing. No clicks or whirs. Now I knew the battery was good as it is relatively new and things such as the electric seats and windows were whirring at a healthy pace. However having suffered at the hands of the ghastly OEM alarm, I thought it must be the immobilizer. I knew it had a lifetime warranty and was barely over a year old but things still break. I tried the fob again and heard a hearty chirp and the locks all clicked... appeared to be responding correctly, but still wouldn't start. Time to search the flat for the code to bypass it, I looked for a couple of hours before deciding to tackle the problem myself. I checked all the fuses. They all looked OK but still it wouldn't work. I decided to swap them all just in case. Still nothing. Time to search the flat even harder for the code which I found after another hour or so searching. So went outside, bypassed the immobilizer and.... nothing. S**t it must be the wiring? Started to take the dash apart to check the wires. Then I went to move the auto gear stick so I could remove the dash panels when I notice its in R. Click it into P and try again... and it started fine

    Brake bleeders

Have you used any of those bleeders? If so how were they? How about the Gunson Eezibleed: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_204645_langId_-1_categoryId_165469#BVRRWidgetID
  15. Can anyone recommend any one man brake bleeders? Pressure/vacuume/on-way valve etc? or are they all a bit useless?
  16. Working for me from the hotukdeals link. Downloading now for free. So is this EA's version of steam?
  17. I think that aside from a few cosmetics they are essentially the same car.

    Roofers

I am looking to get a quote and general advise on some roof repairs. Does anyone know any good roofers around the kent/east sussex border? TN6
  19. I'm sure I dont need to tell you the end result need not be acurate or pretty, the whole idea is to end up with something totally ridiculous. If anyone else has any other suggestions preferably involving guns, explosives, fire, blood and dangerous animals they would be most welcome. Oh and lasers, lasers are cool.
  20. Oh and thanks in advance!
  21. Maybe these images will help. Perhaps the wolf puppies could have grenades as collars?
  22. I was wondering if any of the resident photoshop gurus could produce a picture of a dolphin astronaut riding a hippo which is eating a crocodile which in turn is breathing fire. If possible maybe squeeze in some grenades and guns, but only if it looks tasteful.
